Jas bounced around on top of his clothes with Sam's movements.  He wasn't going to say anything until he realized he didn't need to open his mouth to speak...that belt was his lifeline right now.  <I can hear that noise, what does it mean?  Some sort of alien technology it's supposed to register or something?>  Jas writhed back into a central position on top of his clothes as Sam slowed to a walk.  The image was blurry to his reptile eyes but he could pick out the shapes of buildings in the near distance...they had exited to forest now.  Jas' snake DNA told him to flick his tongue but he didn't dare let go of the belt.  <Where the hell are we going Sam?>

Kasey: Kasey's House
« Reply #496 on: May 31, 2009, 11:25:06 PM »
Kasey stares helplessly at Torrence. "I..I have no idea." As Reece and Christina morph, Kasey flings open the window, giving them room for exit. As she does this, she notices the girl, and squints at her. "Tor, is that the girl we were just looking at? I think it is! We need to follow her!"

As she begins to run through the list of morphs that she has acquired, and quickly realizes none of the morphs she has would be suitable for this task. She frowns and turns away from the window, slightly panicked, before a dog toy out in the hallway catches her eye.

Kasey sprints out of the bathroom shouting, "Reggie! REGGIE! C'mere boy! Treats!" She stumbles down the stairs, falling down the second half. She lands at the base with a crash, and lets out a loud shriek. "Son of a! I think I broke my damn ankle." She sits at the bottom of the stairs clutching it helplessly as tears streak down her cheeks.

Upon hearing the commotion Reggie approaches her, tail wagging. He nuzzles Kasey's face waiting for his treat. She glares at him before she realizes that he's her solution. She carefully lets go of the already swollen and bruised ankle, and reaches out to stroke Reggies head. She breathes deeply, trying to focus on the animal's DNA; Reggies tail stops moving soon after. Kasey scratches him one last time behind the ears before pulling her jeans and kicking off her shoes. She mutters to herself, "Should have put those shorts on. Hopefully I can at least morph my underwear this time."

She closes her eyes, focusing on the animals DNA. The first thing she feels is her fingernails hardening, and lengthening, as her hands and feet begin to shrink, and fur sprouting, covering her body. Reggie lets out a whine, and trots out of the room, hiding under the dining room table. She opens her eyes again when she hears Reggie, just in time to see her face pushing out to form a snout. She lets out a yelp as a tail pushes out from her behind and her torso shrinks. She attempts to call to Torrence as the morph completes, <Torrence, open the-> but at tha tmoment, the animal's instincts kick in.

What is that smell?! A dog!! Where?! Not in my house! She begins to run through the house, attempting to sniff out Reggie. She finds him cowering under the table, and almost immediately loses interest. Oh fooey. He won't play. OH PEOPLE! WHERE ARE THEY!? Maybe they'll play! Kasey darts up the stairs, and runs straight for Torrence. She leaps up, her front paws on the girl, and her tail wagging, a big doggie grin on her face. She tries to lick Torrence's face, leaning heavily on the girl.

Torrence

"Kasey, are you okay-"  The brunette stopped as the lab jumped up at her. "Ah! Kasey you didn't say you had a dog. Wait."

Torrence peered at the dog, holding its paws.

"Kasey?  Kasey, you morphed to meet the girl, didn't you? Did you forget?"

Christina:
<Yeah, I'm awesome.>  The fox - Christina replied, hopping up onto the window sill.
<Come on!>

She hopped out of the window onto the eaves, scurrying down to the gutters. The morphed teenager followed it to the pipe and hurtled down towards the ground.

<AAhhhh!> Christina screamed as the fox hands nimbly handled the pipe- until she seized up in fear.  With her heart in her mouth, Christina tumbled head over heels, cashing down the last five feet to the ground.

Kasey: Kasey's House

Kasey continues to grin up at Torrence, for a moment before gaining control of the morph. She drops back down to all four paws on the ground, and wags her tail, staring up at Christina. <Uh...sorry about that. Yeah, sorry.> The dog shakes it's head. <I morphed. Reggie. My dog. We need to follow that chick. Do you have something you can morph? You could morph Reggie too. I don't think we'd look too strange. Otherwise...you could walk me. We have a spare collar and a leash for him.>

She sniffs at the air, and then catches scent of something on the floor. She begins to follow a trail, straight to the toilet. Before she can gain control over the compulsion, she's drinking from the toilet.

Torrence
"Ew, Kasey! You're going to be brushing your teeth for a week."

Torrence shooed Kasey - Reggie away and flipped the toilet seat down.
"No offense, but I think I'll stay human and stick to you.  Don't want you agaonizing about eating somethings droppings."

She teased lightly.

"Where's the dog walking stuff?"

Kasey (dog morph): Kasey's House

<EW OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELEIVE I DID THAT!!> Kasey all but shrieks in thought-speak. She makes a whining noise before leaving the bathroom. <Follow me. The gear is in the back entryway.>

She goes back downstairs and trots past Reggie, barely able to keep her instincts in check. She stops at the back doorway to the kitchen, and waits patiently for Torrence to affix the spare collar and find the leash. <Torrence, are you wearing a hood? That would be a good idea, that way the girl won't be able to see you. There are a few hoodies up in my room if you need one.>

"I hope this thing is leading us toward someone friendly," says Sam tersely.  "It's reading the signals for alien technology.  So far one alien has helped us and another crew of them has followed us in a big black floating bug ship apparently with the intent of killing us, if they could find us.  Just hang tight."  She glances around.  "Where'd Alec go?  He had Jethsa's cube, I still don't know if I trust the guy..."

Reece hops out the window after Christina, and takes for the air. The Oxpecker instincts were fairly easy to control, as there were no gigantic herbivores to pick parasites off of. Seeing that the spaceship had already gone on a ways, he shot a private thoughtspeech message back to the others. <You guys'll want to hurry up, or we're gonna lose this thing.> He wrenched his wings forward as hard as he could- the Oxpecker's flight was fast and direct.

Hoping that he's not already out of range, Kasey responds to Reece, <We're going to follow the girl. See what we can find out about her. We'll find you guys later.>

I gave Kasey the data-cartridge and was about to answer the questions I'd been asked when Christina shouted from the bathroom about seeing a large roach-chaped object in the sky outside.

I immediately felt a sense of forboding - I knew what it probably was, and it wasn't good. I ramped-up my scanners to double-check, and sure enough I'd guessed right: A Bug-Fighter. "Yeerks..." I barely muttered, with dark undertones.

If anyone had heard me, they gave no indication. Indeed they seemed far too busy/interested in gawking out the bathroom window at the funny-looking UFO. I took the opportunity while they were otherwise engaged to 'morph' Cseirouna again (my 20-something Egyptian low-priestess form. That was my name, back then. It's pronounced Chy-ear-oh-ooh-naah, if you're curious.). That done, I checked my scanners to see if I could detect any other non-human technology in range, such as Dracon-beam weapons or Z-Space transponder signals, that might indicate controllers on the ground as well as in the ship...

I saw a few people morphing, attempting to deliberately carry newly-acquired skin-tight clothing into their morphs for the first time and predictably only getting partial success in the effort, as evidenced by the various shreds of fabric left in their wakes. Still, I had warned them it took PRACTISE as well as concentration to get the trick to work properly, or at least adequately. Considering they'd managed at least a partial transfer of fabric into the morphing process, I predicted they'd get the hang of it in a couple more morphs, transferring more fabric each time until they managed whole garments.

I follow Lab-Kasey and Torrence to the back entryway and move to pet Kasey's canine head while Torrence fetches the collar and leash. - It seemed absolutely natural for me to pet the dog; I was a Chee after all; Though on reflection it may seem weird to essentially be petting my best-human-friend-in-a-dog-morph... Meh, whatever. Let's see how Kasey responds; I can always stop if she wants me to.

GM states that the writer themselves or I determine how well one morphs clothes, not another player.

The device in Sam's hand beeped consistently for a few seconds- then two signatures faded. Two more quickly began to beep.  After walking a few steps, glancing up would reveal that the scanner was indicating a row of four houses in front of Sam.  The scanner wasn't precise enough to determine which house it was coming from or even relayed what it was tracking.  The two beeps also faded and the scanner became silent.

Alec was nowhere in sight.  You recall that he was behind you when the scanner started to beep and you first began to follow it.

GM note: All characters present are now in sight of each other, with exception of those not standing in the window.

"That seems too emo," Torrence decided. "- wouldn't you be creeped out talking to someone when you couldn't see their face?  Here, give me a minute."
The brunette walked over to the sink and picked up a shiny pot. Using the reflection, she began to morph.  After a few seconds, her eyes had elongated and her nose had flattened.  It was a bit disturbing to look at, as though she was scheduled for corrective surgery.

"Not very pretty," Torrence said, setting down the pot. "- but serviceable."

She leashed up Kasey and opened the door, walking indirectly towards the mysterious woman.

Christina righted herself from her humiliating tumble.  She shook her head and clumps of dirt showered off of her.

<Foxes bounce!> She determined. <Good luck with the girl! See ya!>

She began to tot after the bid in the sky- peculiar for the foxes mind.  Her head swiveled as she passed the woman.

<She has a snake!>  She reported, something her fox brain was very curious about. So curious...

Prying herself away, she began to hurry into the woods, trying to keep the bird in sight.

Jas could make out the houses better now...and he sensed a tremor in the air against the wind.  He looked and saw a fox trot by.  His instincts made him freeze....half of him wanted to slither away heavy with fear, the other half worried that the movement would give him away.  He despearately wanted to flick his tongue to scent the air, but didn't dare.  He couldn't remember why...why couldn't he flick his tongue?  He finally clamped down on the snake instincts and remembered.  The thought occured to him and he voiced it.

<Sam, there's a fox...in the middle of the suburbs...must be really hungry to come this close to humans.>  As Jas was not terribly familiar with thought-speech, the thought was not personally broadcast to Sam, so anyone within twenty feet could've heard him, though he knew none of this.

Sam glances at the fox as it scurries past.  "Yeah, that is really weird," she murmurs, still feeling like she's talking to herself.  "Jas, I don't know where Alec went, it's bothering me.  He still has that cube thing."  She looks down at the scanner device.  It's stopped beeping.  Looking back up at the row of four houses in front of her, she catches a glimpse of movement.  People?  No, a bird flickering away from one of the windows.  "The signal's coming from one of these houses," she says, feeling suddenly very exposed.  She steps to the side of one of the houses, pressing her back against it.  Great, what am I, a secret agent? she thought.  She looks down at the device again, but it makes no further sounds.

<Girl? What's going on?> Reece broadcast to the others. The Oxpecker's brain was making it difficult for him to divert his focus- it was focused on migrating towards the strange black thing that seemed just out of reach. He distantly heard Christina yell and slowed a bit- frazzled to attention, but as she continued to speak he calmed down. He heard someone below say <Sam-> in thought speech before he passed out of range. He looked down at the Fox below. <Did you say something Christina?> he asked.
