"Yeah? Maybe they take you. You need place, and they have place. We ask them." Jagill said as he approached Myitt's ship. He wasn't sure if he should walk past the woman going in or not.

Al smiled. "Me too. I can never find anyone to play with." He shuffled the cards. "Salem, you want in?"

"Ehhh... in a bit," Salem replied. He was mulling over the things that Mar was saying. Finding out that the Ellimist- the story he'd heard of from the Andalites- was real... well, that had been surprising enough. The implication that immortals had a greater interest in this place... that, he just found unnerving. Mar's statement about immortals subtly manipulating the lives of mortals didn't really sit easily with him either. He did find the fact that immortals often use mortal avatars to be an interesting fact.

He also made note of Rayker's comments about dressing in the enemy's uniforms, and spending two decades chasing one guy. A guy that, from the sound of things, they were hoping to catch today. Rayker's guys might be useful after all. He'd make a point to ask him about it.

Al shrugged and handed out a pile of chips each to himself and to Jackson. "Rayker, or Mar, if I heard your name right, either of you guys want chips? I don't know what they can be worth in this place, but the game's only fun if you're betting."

Salem laughed at Mar' and Rayker's mentions of the bar's conflicts. "I'm pretty sure I've been held at gunpoint more often here than I thought possible," he said. "This place definitely breeds conflict." He turned to Mar. "So... you're saying the longer you exist, the farther you get from the immortal... the 'Highest' that... um... spawned you? What does that make you? Are you you? Or are you him? Is it possible for you to split off entirely?" Something clicked in his head. "That's why you can fly, isn't it? It's because you're drawing on his power?"

Rayker looked at the chips... he looked back at the people he was chatting with... and he couldn't decide what to do. It had been so long since he'd had a good game of poker.... "Okay yeah, deal me in." He said.

Jackson smiled, but kept quiet. He was going to beat the sergeant at his own game, even if it was partly because he was distracted. "I'm still listening, by the way." It was a surprising concept that not only had this guy once been almost a god, but apparently he wasn't any longer.... That idea was a little hard to understand, but then again, he was playin' poker on an asteroid in a universal intersection. "That's why you can fly..." Salem had said. This whole thing just got even weirder, didn't it? he thought.

Carson knocked again, but lightly. He didn't want to disturb Temrash if he was busy.
"Hey Lennan..." he called. A second later, Lennan was next to him outside of the door.
"Yes, Carson?"
"How long does it take to read through someone's memories? I mean, how does that all work?"
"It's very simple, actually. When a yeerk enters a host's skull, it fills into the grooves and crevices in the brain, instantly gaining complete control of motor function and memory. Even the host's conscious thought is readily available. Temrash already has total access to any and all information in Desmond's mind; he must be transferring the data to a computer storage system."

(Sorry if I missed an earlier post. I haven't been reading some posts that I think don't pertain to me.)

Temrash heard knocking, and walked over to the locked door. "Yes, who is it?"

"We - er, I - was just wondering how things were going.... I didn't know how long it could take, and was wondering if something had happened. Lennan said that you were probably trying to upload everything to a computer or something..." Carson wasn't exactly sure what it was he had wanted to say in the first place... 'Hurry up and get out of his head so I can blast him?' Obviously, he did want to finally achieve that goal of permanently stopping Desmond, and he was getting anxious with his enemy sitting calmly in the other room, but he didn't want to look like some crazed, vengeful murderer either. These people knew of the evils he was capable of, but he didn't want to take that as an excuse for blood-lust.

Temrash opened the door. "Well I'm trying to be thorough. I don't want to leave anything out. It is taking a while to compile years and years of data, though I suppose if anyone wants to just point out what they think are the most important bits, I can do that too. I know you hate Desmond, and I'm basically holding off his execution. I want to get rid of him too. All these memories disgust me."

Carson was a little surprised. This yeerk wasn't even in his head, yet he'd read his thoughts.... "I don't know if I'd be willing to do what you're doing. I think it's the others who really want the information... we kinda learned some things as we followed him." he said to Temrash as he glared at Desmond. "Actually, there is one thing. What was his reason for destroying and terrorizing Earth in over a dozen universes? I think I have a pretty good idea, but I'd be interested in hearing his perspective... if you've got the time...."

"A couple of things. Different events lead to different outcomes, and by observing different Earths he could learn how to control his own people better. he could research what worked and what didn't work in the other universes, and apply that to his own methods. The second reason being that for every Earth he found, he'd have access to more test subjects." Temrash said. "Those are the main two reasons. Other little things as well."

A crew member came up next to Morgan and said, "Everything's ready outside the ship, Captain."

Morgan nodded and stood up, still holding his side. He made a general announcement to everyone in the room.

"I'm stepping outside to lay Fletcher to rest. You're all welcome to come."

"As guilty as I feel for Fletcher's death, I think I'll wait until later before paying my respects." Temrash said.

After a few minutes, Myitt finds herself looking at Ossanlin and Tamora through Tara's eyes.

<Welcome back,> Tara murmurs.

<Someone out there must like me,> Myitt replies.

Myitt crosses her arms.  "So, Ossanlin.  She is unarmed.  What is your decision?"

<It's not my choice Myitt.  You spoke up for her, she's your problem now.  Would you like me to escort her to your ship for safe-keeping or would you care to do that yourself?  Regardless it is the last I'll have to do with her.  I wash my tail of her blood.>  Ossanlin grips a little tighter around Tamora's frame, itching to finish the deed.  He had threatened to do so...  <She deserves to die, but I'll give her life to you.  Any other problems she causes...are your problems.>  Ossanlin holds on to Tamora, waiting for Myitt's answer to his escort offer.

"No," Myitt snaps.  "You're right, I did speak up for her.  I won't kill her, but I told you, I'm leaving her life in your hands.  You brought her here, you decided it would be easier to kill her, and she's your responsibility.  If you don't have the stomach for killing her, then take her to her sister, wherever she's gone off to.  She's the one who started this whole mess in the first place."

She turns and stalks off through the woods, grumbling curses to herself.

A mangled sob escapes Tamora's lips as Myitt turns, leaving her in the clutches of the Andalite, a twitch away from her head being removed.

"Please...please...p lease..." seems to be the only word that she is able to coherently make, and each iteration is punctuated with a blubbering hiccup.

Terenia tilts her head slightly, a small smile forming on her lips, "Efaen is choosing not to respond. She has nothing but vile thoughts towards you and regards you as a traitor to your race, giving in to the Yeerk scourge." She repeats Efaen's thoughts easily; it is clear that they amuse her. In general, Terenia's spirits seem to have improved greatly since Reven's acceptance of her plea to join the rebellion. Apparently Efaen's threats are not posing a problem at the moment.
