Sukohn thought things over a bit, then came to a decision. "Very well. Let me speak with Tamora, please. I wouldn't mind having a few words with her."

Still hoping Ossanlin didn't know about his hidden dracon, he raised his hand up to scratch his chest. He pretended to have an itch in the area where the gun was, and hopefully he'd have a chance to get it inside his shirt. All he needed was to be out of reach of the tail, and hope he was faster than Ossanlin on the draw. It was all he had, though the andalite already being at the ready with two shredders definitely lowered his odds.

Ossanlin narrows his main eyes.  <I advise you to keep your hands where they are visible or I will be forced to assume you mean me harm.>  Ossanlin commands the secure channel open with thought-speech, keeping his main focus on Sukohn.  The Mirage sends out a small-wave energy-band signal to the bug above...a hailing frequency so to speak.  <She'll have to open the channel on your ship herself.>

Tora takes a deep breath, choking on the polluted air, as she stands. Closing all four eyes, she gropes for the door's keypad, finally finding it. Her many-fingered hand fumbles for a moment as she orients herself on the buttons, and then she punches in the command for the hatch to open. Immediately, the steel hull of the ship splits open to reveal the the ship yard outside.

Not bothering to lower the ramp, Tora staggers out of the ship and falls into a shaking, gasping heap on the ground. Black smoke pours out of the newly-opened door over her head.

<This guy is not going to be easy to beat. He's not underestimating me at all.> Sukohn said to Cody.

<How are we going to beat him?>

<I don't know. He's out of our league.>

<Can you pull the dracon's trigger from outside the uniform?>

<I doubt it. It's not a loose fitting suit. If I can get my hand inside the shirt, I may be able to blast him without pulling the thing out. It will burn, and I'd have to immediately discard the shirt for any flames.>

<Well the painkillers I took are still working. If you can just slip your hand in there without getting shot...>

<Maybe if I turned my body away slightly, then turn it back to shoot him. Though I'd like to tell tamora what's going on first. Hopefully she'll pick up, knowing I'm inside the ship.>

"Well, ah..." Terenia pauses, clears her throat, then starts again, trying her best to ignore Efaen's constant verbiage. "The consequences can't be worse than five years in Visser Three's torture chamber, first of all. I have an idea of what would need to happen, yes, although Corliss has been a bit fuzzy on the details. It's been...ah...a bit hectic here," Terenia seems to grow more comfortable as she is speaking, relaxing into the seat slightly.

"Honestly, I want to join you for two reasons. I have no home. The humans, Andalites and Yeerks have all cast me aside. I quite literally have nowhere else to go. I cannot fight alongside the Andalites and I cannot fight alongside the Yeerks. There's a bounty on my head the size of a Dome Ship from the Andalites, and if I do not return to Visser Three then I'll have a bounty on that side too."

Terenia pauses for a second, realizing that it may not be a good idea to divulge exactly how much attention the Visser paid to her over the past five years. Revealing the bounty on her head alone might be too much of a security risk for Reven to accept her.

"I...can't leave the fight," Terenia says finally, with a shrug, "This war is all I've ever known. I have no love for the Empire, and my reasons for remaining with them have evaporated. I won't go back, I can't. But if I don't have a steady source of Kandrona, I'll starve. And Efaen...she wants to keep fighting too."

Terenia throws the last bit in quickly, and a bit awkwardly, hoping that the added information of Efaen's willingness to fight will help her cause.

---

"Now what?" Tamora asks rhetorically, glaring at Myitt and giving Bear a slightly softer look. Chad had disappeared into the Mirage, which was now powering its engines. Tamora was inclined to take off and make a break for it; high tailing it back to the Empire with a Yeerk rebel in tow was starting to seem like a pretty good idea. She was just about to key in the command when the communications link lit up. Checking the readout, Tamora's stomach drops when she sees that it is from The Mirage. Nervously, she accepts the transmission, opening audio only.

Ossanlin continues to stare at Sukohn like an Earth hawk, hardly even blinking.  <The computer has informed me that Tamora has opened her end of the channel, I have connected the Mirage's sonic detectors to the communications array.  You may vocalize as you so wish.  If you say anything contradictory to my offer, I will immediately cut communications and will treat the bug as I should any high security-risk.>

(sounds like Oss is properly paranoid.)

"I'll keep it honest and straightforward." Sukohn said. "Tamora. It is Sukohn. I trust you can hear me. I've been speaking with the Prince, and he has refused to let me leave this place with you. He says that you are to be treated as a prisoner of war, and intends to keep you in custody until the war ends. I'm afraid you don't have very many choices. You can land the ship, give up Myitt, and resign yourself to imprisonment assuming Terenia doesn't get to you first. He says he is willing to kill Myitt to ensure that you do not leave."

"Of course if you don't want to be under Andalite surveillance for the remainder of the war, you may exact your revenge now and take your own life instead of being taken alive. There is little that I can do for you in here." as he made the last sentence, he looked around the room while still feigning his itch. "The hostage plan doesn't seemed to have worked, though I am not too surprised. Myitt is a Yeerk, after all."

He turned his body away from Ossanlin, making sure he couldn't really see his hand. Hopefully his act was working, and the Prince wouldn't shoot him in the back just because he couldn't see one scratching hand. His usual casual demeanor helped his act. He didn't have his hand inside his shirt yet, and decided to wait to see if Oss would immediately shoot. If so, he could feign innocence unless he was searched.

"Those are the only two options I see for you. Become a prisoner, or go out and take your master's murderer with you."

(We can talk via PM about what could happen if Sukohn manages to actually stun Oss. I don't think I would have Sukohn take him away because I don't want to cause a group to go off planet again.)

((Alright, guys, I'm going on a road trip, and expecting to be out of internet contact for about a week here, so I'm going to go ahead and move Salem somewhere to hopefully keep him out of trouble until I get back.))

Salem leaned against the wall of the bar for a moment, watching the figure as it grew brighter. It was pretty clearly Thordon, and for some reason, he wasn't really all that surprised. "Crazy immortals," he muttered to himself.

He hadn't realized it earlier, but apparently all the action recently had really worn him out. He was exhausted. "Hey, Al, any chance you'd be willing to bring me a bed down here?" he asked into his communicator.

"Sure, but I'm gonna keep recording as I come down. This is just getting good. You've got Mr. Glowy over there, a burning ship over there, the big ship and the little ship facing off. It looks to be pretty entertaining."

Salem looked up and watched as the black shape of his ship descended towards the corner of the ship yard. He walked to meet it, shaking his head as he recalled that Slick Brenda, at the paint shop, had actually called that color "Soul-Scarring Black." The ship settled onto its landing struts, ramp opening, and Salem stepped inside. He yawned as the ramp closed behind him.

Ossanlin continues to stare at Sukohn.  <Try and reduce the movements Yeerk...I told you not to hide your hands...let me see your hands again or I will shoot.  Simply because I do not have a personal issue with you does not mean I will not neutralize a possible threat.>  Ossanlin leaves the communications line open to hear Tamora's response.

"Sorry. It's a nice ship." Sukohn said. When Oss started talking, he started moving his hand into his shirt. He grabbed the dracon handle and found the trigger, then turned just enough that the beam should hit the Andalite square in the chest when he fired. The beam would scorch through his clothes, and leave a burn mark on his chest, but it would be survivable. There would be a stunning effect, but not as much as Oss if he took the brunt of the blast. He kept his finger on the trigger to try his best to ensure victory. Failure likely meant death.

Corliss skids into the clearing where Tora's ship has crashed, brushing back his shaggy black hair from the instant heat of the smoldering ship.

He rushes to Tora and kneels by her.

"Tora!" he cries.  "Are you all right?  Come 'ead, we've got to get out you out of here!"

---

Myitt watches as the audio proceedings switch between Tamora, Ossanlin and Cody...or was it really Cody?  He seemed suddenly far too eloquent.

---

Reven nods at Terenia.  "And you and your host, Efaen, you would both be willing to live under our rules of quarantine, until we deem you are worthy of trusting on our missions?  You would both submit to memory dump procedures?"

Ossanlin tenses as he sees a ripple of movement under Sukohn's shirt, hand ensconced within the fabric.  He jumps to the side as much as he can in the small, enclosed room and fires the shredder set to stun at Cody's chest.

Tamora listens to Cody - or, at this point, likely Sukohn - as he tells her how hopeless the situation is. She grits her teeth and glances back towards Myitt. Just as she is about to respond the sound of Dracon and Shredder fire tears through the com system.

"Cody?" Tamora asks urgently, "Cody? Cody what's happening?"

---

<<Quarantine?>> Efaen hisses. Terenia ignores her.

"I've already had a memory dump," she says with a shrug, "Corliss and Myitt wanted to know that they could trust me from the onset." She didn't mention the circumstances under which the memory dump occurred, or the drama that unfolded afterwards. "As for quarantine...well, it would be nice to stay put for awhile, for once."

<<No it would not! You are betraying our deal!>>

<<Shut it,>> Terenia hisses back to Efaen.

The sound of Corliss's voice brings Tora out of her shaking stupor, and she opens her main eyes, less singed by the heat than her delicate stalk eyes, to look at him. <<The base comm is still inside,>> she tells him, her thought-speak voice betraying her exhaustion. <<We must extinguish the fire to salvage what is left of the supplies, as well.>>

The Andalite tries to push herself a few additional feet from the ship, but her injured leg protests too much, so she gives up the effort in favor of morphing. She finds it easier to concentrate now that she is not fighting for every breath, and the changes to her body begin almost immediately: blue fur is subsumed by tan skin, and her tail begins to fold in on itself like a broken accordion.

From what Mar has gathered, Myitt's current location appears to be...inside a Bug fighter? Mar frowns. That might be a bit of a tricky target. He supposes he'll get as close as he can before attempting to enter the Bug fighter, and work with the situation once he's there.

Mar reaches the closest location he can find fairly quickly, although something is very wrong with the setup. The Mirage and the Bug fighter are very closeby, but only one is in the air. He imagines some kind of negotiation is going on, but he frankly doesn't have time to think about it. He must get Myitt out of danger as quickly as possible.

Mar then turns to Elayne and states carefully, "I'm going to attempt to warp into the Bug fighter and rescue Myitt. The rest is not my concern. If we reappear, can you help me keep her safe from whatever might be happening?"
