Gaz reluctantly stood up. As much as it pained her, Parker was right and she knew it. There would be time to bury Fletcher later when it was safe.

"I'm going back over to the Pride," Gaz said. "Gotta tell Morgan what happened."

Gaz stormed out and back over to the Pride. When she got inside, Morgan noticed something was wrong.

"What's wrong, Gaz?" he asked as he stood up from next to his wife. Who had still not woken up yet. "Where's Fletcher?"

It took Gaz a long moment before she could speak, but finally she was able to say it.

"Fletcher is...gone," she said as she hung her head.

"What?!" Morgan exclaimed. "What do you mean gone?!"

"He's dead!" Gaz yelled. "He's gone."

"What happened?" Asda asked. She was still working on Cutter's ankle. But there was a look of sadness on her face now.

"He was suffering from gun shot wounds," Gaz replied, "they were bad. Parker said it was too dangerous to move him. There wasn't time to call you, Asda."

Asda longed to comfort Gaz, but couldn't leave her patient.

Morgan walked over to Gaz and embraced her. Reluctantly, Gaz let him encircle her in a protective hug.

Parker followed Gaz around the backside of the ship. if they were lucky, the team that was approaching the ship wouldn't have catched that they were even there.

He found Silver outside of the ship, looking around, "Silver, we need to get back inide. if these guys have bad intentions, we're **** out of luck."

"I'm sorry Gaz. We should have made sure everyone was present before leaving the ship. i know you didn't get along with him, but he was family and loyal. We will bury him when things settle down." Temrash said.

~Silver~
She turned when she heard Parker call her and nodded her head following him inside. "What a party." she said sarcastically.

~Keiko~
She eyed the man suspiciously and scooted a bit away from him. "I have to leave this place." she said harshly and looked behind him at the door.

Corliss sneers right back at Efaen, following her to the controls as the communications system beeps.  His expression changes to one of alarm, however, when he sees the number of human and Hork-Bajir troops rummaging through the shipyard outside.

"Are you sure they're here for her?" he asks, swallowing against the sick feeling in his throat.

<Who else would they be here for?> Efaen asks pretentiously, examining the Yeerk controls, <We're cloaked, but eventually they'll get a read on us. The cloaking system isn't meant to mask itself from other Yeerk ships. We need to act now,> it is clear that she is not speaking directly to Corliss, but rather thinking out loud, <I can position the weapons to fire all at once. That may be enough power to destroy the ship and a large number of the centralized forces. Of course the repercussion of using that amount of power will likely kill us.>

<What!?> Terenia cries from in the Yeerk Pool, where she had been listening in on Efaen's side of the conversation, <like hell. Corliss, don't let her near the weapons!>

----

Trey nods, allowing Elayne to drag him along through the back rooms of the bar. It is only as they are pushing through the back hallway that Trey regains enough sense to gasp out, "Not....not the NAT. Wrong uniforms. They don't use Hork-Bajir. I've....never seen a Hork-Bajir look like that before. They looked....evil."

"I'm afraid it isn't safe outside, little one." Temrash said to the feline looking girl. "The safest place for you is here. We rescued you and another prisoner. You can relax here. Maybe have something to eat or drink. I can take you to the commons area if you'd like."

Corliss, hearing Terenia, steps as close to Efaen as he dares.

"Hang on, then, you're going to destroy half the bar and us in the process," he says urgently, almost breathing down the right side of Efaen's neck as he places his hands in front of what controls he can reach.  "Let's be rational, Efaen.  They may find us soon enough, and then what?  Surely they won't destroy this ship without attempting to board it first, and then..." He holds up his Dracon, waving it a bit from side to side.  "Then we can use the broad cannon on the ship, as well, and fry some of these bastards slowly without blowing us all to kingdom come."

((Holy crap, Scott!  How many dudes can even fit into a Bug fighter?  I was imagining a Bug clown car XD;...aren't they smaller than that?  The Animorphs had a hard time fitting into one all at once...oh well, maybe they're newer models, I don't know...just saying.))

Efaen stiffens noticeably at Corliss' close proximity, her tail twitching dangerously.

<Fine,> she scowls, begrudgingly admitting that perhaps remaining alive is a beneficial thing, <we will fry the Yeerks slowly. At least that will allow them the chance to witness their own demise. Now kindly remove your hands from the controls before I remove your hands.>

Corliss steps back slowly, his eyes more on the screens than on the Andalite herself.  "Efaen, isn't that a cloak disruption warning, there?" he says worriedly.

((Haha... no, not on a Bug. The Yeerks landed a larger transport ship, escorted by a couple of Bugs. The transport's still got enough people on it to man its external cannons, and the Bugs have landed, but they're still powered up. These guys are nervous as all hell, a lot of that simply because they're not totally sure what they're looking for, but their commander wants to keep casualties down. And yeah, I know I've got a heck of a lot of bodies running around here. My guy brought a full-scale manhunt down on top of him ::) Anyone can feel free to Yeerk the teams of humans and Hork-Bajir running around. They're basically just running a search operation at this point, and are probably well trained enough not to fire unless fired upon... that would just turn this whole area into the OK Coral ;D.))

The team of Yeerk forces searching the ships continued to look around. They weren't having much luck- the ships all seemed to be empty. When they could, they'd pry open the hatches to look inside. When that wasn't an option without firing weapons, they'd request a detailed scan from their transport ship. The transport began slowly painting one area with a low-level Dracon beam until the air in one spot seemed to distort, like heat rising on a hot day. It looked like there was a cloaked ship here after all. Three Hork-Bajir and one human fanned out around the craft, standing uneasily and wishing they'd been allowed to draw weapons. The rest of the team carefully kept their distance, though it was clear they wanted to keep the cloaked ship in sight. One Hork Bajir walked closer to the area. She wasn't sure if anyone was onboard, but she called out anyway.

"We know you're there. We don't want to fight. We're looking for someone. Lower your cloak and your shields and this won't have to get messy."

***

The rest of the team moving towards the large, grounded spacecraft moved on, carefully, trying to keep the man walking towards Paul in view.

The man called out to Paul with a thick Ukrainian accent, his voice audibly shaking, "Please lower your weapon. If you fire, we will be forced to kill you. I only want information. We seek a fugitive. Human. Have you seen any suspicious humans lately?"

***

A small team finally arrived at the Pride. After watching from the trees for a moment as people went in and out, two of the members- a human female and a larger than average Hork-Bajir- walked steadily towards the ship. They kept their hands ready to draw their weapons, while two Hork-Bajir watched them from the trees. The Hork-Bajir was obviously very nervous, but the woman seemed calm, almost bored. ((I assume you guys still had the hatch open? If not, would it be plausible that she just walked up and knocked on the door?))

As they neared the ship, she called out, "'ey! You, in the ship! We're looking for some'un! The quicker we find 'im, the quicker we'll leave. Think y'all could give us some 'elp?"

***

The commander's pace slowed as he neared the bar as he strained to see inside. Finally, he stepped cautiously through the doorway and looked around at the patrons, many of whom looked very unnerved. He sighed. What did he expect, landing a small army in this otherwise-quiet corner of the galaxy?

He yelled into the bar, "I apologize for the rude entrance. We believe a dangerous fugitive may have landed in this area. He's a human male, about six feet in height, with brown hair, and he'll most likely be carrying weaponry unique to you. There's a reward being offered for any information leading to his capture. Has anyone noticed any new human arrivals besides my team lately?"

***

Thienal, the gray-skinned boy, and Ikakek, the giant, fierce-looking insectine creature, held a quiet discussion as they followed the commander towards the bar.

"I must come back here," Ikakek said with a tone of wonder. "Do you know how many wanted people a place like this will attract?"

"I only care about our friend. He shot down my ship."

"You know better than to engage him without Serin present."

"How did we get stuck working for these slugs anyway?"

Ikakek shushed him and assumed a ready stance as the commander called something through the door of the building. Unlike the Hork-Bajir and human searchers, Ikakek drew a pair of guns- rather plain-looking ones at that- and began to uncoil the five razor-wire-like appendages alongside his body. They snaked through the air with surprising dexterity, some of them touching and overturning rocks and leaves several yards away from where he stood. Thienal used his antigrav-boots to hover to a spot on the roof, and drew his nearly-invisible rifle, using the scope to watch the searchers around the area.

"I doubt that anyone we have in here is the one you are after." Temrash said as he walked to the hatch to meet more of the search team. "Hey Morgan! You mind letting these guys take a quick glance so they'll be content to leave afterwards?"

Belzar watched the person who just came in, and he had noticed someone enter and take a seat in the corner. Should he expose the newcomer so the other patrons would be spared? trey and Elayne had gone out the back way, so diverting the troops that way may not help. He walked up close to the person with the weapons, and spoke softly.

"I don't want a fight to break out here, but I believe you may find your person in the far corner of the room." He hoped that this would minimize any casualties.

Elayne sagged in relief at Trey's words. "You could have told me," she shook her head. "I thought they were here for y--" she cut herself off as an unfamiliar voice called into the Bar, declaring he was searching for a young human man.

She slowly drew her bottom lip between her teeth, and then whispered, "They're not looking for you, but you fit that description a little too closely for my comfort. Let's see if we can find a quiet spot back here to hide." Stepping as quietly as she could, she walked deeper into the back rooms of the Bar.

The commander watched as the large robot approached him. Five years ago, he would have recoiled at the sight of something like this, but now it seemed like business as usual. As the robot spoke quietly, he smiled.

"If you're right, there's a reward in your future. Thank you. I'll keep this as quiet as possible," he spoke softly to avoid drawing the attention of the cloaked man the robot had indicated, though if it was his target, his eyes would already be on the commander anyway.

"I believe I have him. Covering team, draw weapons and move into the bar," he said softly into his wrist communicator as he crossed the room casually towards the figure.

Four Hork-Bajir entered the room and immediately fanned out. Their weapons were drawn, and their "monocles" were flashing as they analyzed the room.

***

The cloaked man watched nervously as the robot he'd noticed walked over to the Yeerk commander. There appeared to be some sort of exchange, and the commander glanced his way. He cursed silently. He should have known this wouldn't work. He'd hoped they wouldn't have the presence of mind to turn him in when the Yeerks arrived, but the commander had surprised him by not ordering them to keep everyone at gunpoint.

The commander walked casually towards him, and four Hork-Bajir filed through the door, keeping their weapons drawn.

So, you're not taking chances this time, the man thought, smiling to himself.

He stood, stumbling a bit, as the commander reached him. Two tiny, silver capsules fell out the bottom of his cloak. Knowing his face was obscured by his cloak, did his best impression of a drunk giving a salute to the commander.

The commander glanced questioningly back at one of the Hork-Bajir, before stepping closer and whispering, "Tobias, is that you? We've won. Come with us. I don't want to hurt you."
