Genie hesitated, considering. "There's nowhere that I really want to go at the moment." Home, unfortunately, couldn't be an option, no matter how much she wanted to go. She tapped her foot against the bar stool. "We have a ship, that has some... personal items that we... mostly Priton, need." She doubted Priton would feel too comfortable with her saying things like "portable kandrona and yeerk pool."

Belzar came to a rickety stop when the other creature spoke. He understood it, though it was a strange way of speaking. His upper torso turned while his lower torso stayed still, as his design allowed him to do that.

"I am Belzar. I am designed as a shock trooper for my military, and have survived a very large battle. My enemies were designing a transteleportationa l machine to take them swiftly from planet to planet to expand their military forces. I believe the battle had been won, but I fell through the portal and am in need to repair. due to the circumstances, the jump was rather random and I don't know where I am. Thnis place looks to be full of plantlife, which is...different from what I am used to."

"I would appreciate directions to the nearest repair facility, if you can understand my speech."

Initially, the words coming from the machines mouth are completely incomprehensible. About halfway through his speech, when he reaches the words "am in need of repair" the translator chip embedded in Efaen's skull kicks in.

<Ah, that's better,> she says, <repair facility, eh? Well, I don't know about that. There doesn't seem to be much of anything on this planetoid beyond that bar back there,> she gestures to the bar in the distance, <but if you're lucky, you may be able to find someone who knows how to fix you up. I know a fair amount of mechanics come through these parts. Dunno if they've ever dealt with the likes of you, though.>

Lucan realized he was being over-zealous and probably making Genie slightly uncomfortable by his forwardness. “My apologies Genie I did not mean to be so forward, but my species is like that. My species, the Reln are very truthful about emotions and in Relnian society it is accepted to be forward.”

He took a deep breath and continued. “I am learning that other species regard emotions as private and intimate and should be shared with discretion. If you wish I will accompany you instead.”

Keshin shrugs, glancing at the creature with a more studious look. He still has no idea where it came from, but it is apparently sentient judging from Terenia's end of the conversation. "So it's looking for some way to get repaired? Well..."

Keshin glances toward Terenia. "We're kind of in a hurry, you know? We can't just screw around and help this guy. We have no idea when Myitt and company are coming back from their bizarre little mission, and I do not want to tangle with them or Ossanlin the mutant Andalite. Tell the machine that the Bartender should at least have sustenance or replacement parts for him. I have no idea how it works, but that creepy stoic guy always has whatever you need. I got emergency medical supplies once. But whether he'll give it to you or not on any given day is vague."

Mar shakes his head, patting Elayne's shoulder as soon as he sees that she looks worried for his safety. "No, no. You have no need to be frightened, sweet Elayne. My Higher self records every personality I have ever used, and even sometimes the minds of those who carry a high concentration of Dark matter in their souls. Although I may not consider this mind important, it will not cease to exist."

Mar shrugs awkwardly. "And I suppose he must. But I personally think those reasons seem very bizarre. Perhaps he has another way of sustaining himself, or expects that the mass panic of genocide will sustain him for many years. It isn't my business, but I still think it's stupid. Fear and panic are stronger emotions when they exist in vast numbers."

Priton chose that moment to butt in. "Theoretically speaking. Back to that whole... destroying my enemies business. How exactly do you intend to do that?"

<Way to interrupt, P,> Genie muttered.

<You can be disgusting together on your own time.>

She immediately changed her tone. <You could, you know, take an early swim...>

<Forget it.>

Lucan thought for a moment and then a plan formed in his mind that would benefit them all. “Priton you are able to infest humans. Why can’t we capture another Yeerk-infested human and force the Yeerk to leave the human. You could then infest the human and infiltrate your enemies.”

Lucan didn’t voice it, but he knew that would mean that Genie would be free. He couldn’t be sure if Priton would approve of that, but he felt that Genie would appreciate being free again.

<I thought the point was not to get yourself killed.> Genie was torn--she wanted to be free, but she didn't want Priton back in the situation they'd just gotten out of. He was her friend, in a weird sort of way.

<You do what you have to do. I'll do what I have to do.> He paused. <Genie?>

<I know. If it comes down to it, I won't let you starve.>

Priton nodded. To Lucan, "I suppose this means we're going to have to go to Earth."

Terenia hesitates, unsure. For some reason she is drawn to this robot, probably from simple curiosity more than anything. That, and the way it is staggering towards the bar so close to complete collapse is utterly pitiful and awakens an emotion that Terenia has not felt in a long time - sympathy.

<Let me just help it as far as the bar,> Terenia says to Keshin, <I need to collect my personal items anyway. I left my Dracon Beams there, as well as the transponder that Zorish may use to contact me. I'd rather not lose either of those items.>

Turning back to the robot, she says, <I'm sorry, I did not catch your name. My translator chip only works after you have been speaking for awhile. Come on, let's go see if we can get you fixed up.>

"I am Belzar. I am grateful for the assistance. It disheartens me that this spot has no basic repair facility, especially when I don't even know if I'll completely fall apart or not." He said. There was no worry in his voice when he said he might fall apart, as if dying didn't really trouble him. Being the robotic equivilent of mortally injured seemed like more of an irritance than a crisis.

"I do not mean to offend, but the two of you lifeforms seem to have traces of radiation in what I believe is called a brain. Though perhaps that is normal? Radiation is usually unhealthy for lifeforms, though, is it not?"

He continued trying to make it to the bar, shifting from suide to side like a drunkard. His visor light had been flashing from orange to red, and the red color was becoming more frequent.

Keshin rolls his eyes, waving his hand. "Alright, alright. I didn't think we were going to get very far anyway. Besides, I guess we can't just let this thing crash in the middle of nowhere or leave your stuff."

Keshin then wanders towards the robot and states, "Ask him if he wants us to help him over there. And...what could he be talking about? ...wait. Does he mean..." Keshin frowns and then states, "Ask him if he's referring to the two creatures inside the brain. If he is, tell him that that's healthy for a member of my...our...species."

Lucan nodded and replied "Would you prefer to take your ship or mine Genie?"

"Our ship is fairly small." Priton rubbed his chin. "It can fit three people at the most, and I'll need some space. It's crowded in there as it is at the moment. How large is your ship?"

<Belzar,> Terenia nods, moving forward to help him. Secretly she hopes that he does not collapse, as her weak Andalite arms will be able to do little to keep him upright. When the machine mentions radiation in the brain, she gives Keshin a sideways glance before responding.

<Are you certain that what you are seeing is radiation?> she asks Belzar, <and not another organic life-form within the one you see?>

To Keshin she adds, <Yes, I think he needs our help to the bar. He looks about ready to crumble into pieces at any moment.>

At Mar's first words Elayne nodded, wondering if the relief was reflected as obviously in her expression as it was in her mind. Wanting to get off this subject that kept pushing her to confront uncomfortable feelings, she focused the conversation on Crayak. "It's my opinion--and maybe it's a naive one, but what have you--that I can't know what another person has experienced. Maybe Crayak's methods are inefficient; maybe he'd even agree with you on that point, but if his motive is entirely different from yours, then his actions could make sense."
