Salem climbed onto Vlad's hovering "bike" and watched, shaking his head, as Vlad took off. Maybe "Vampire" isn't human after all, he thought. Vlad's physical abilities certainly seemed to put him more on par with the Syler, from what he'd seen.

Salem tentatively ran his hands over the controls, then, shrugging, hunkered down and gunned the throttle. The bike shot forward, and Salem was nearly thrown off. The acceleration and the sensitivity of the controls were greater than he'd been expecting. He let up on the throttle and allowed the bike to slow down a bit, before gunning it again and taking it into a wide circle around the area.

Not exactly my old skimmer, but not bad, he mused. He looked around, trying to get his bearings, and realized he was pretty far east of where he'd started. He could still see Vlad making his way into the woods. Salem angled the bike towards him, opened the throttle slowly, and easily caught up to him. He braked and slowed down, holding pace beside Vlad.

"Pretty nice machine you've got here!" he called to Vlad over his shoulder with a grin.

Vlad grinned and nodded, ''I built it from scratch. See the red button next to the throttle? Press it and it activates the weapon controls, press it again to shut it off. And just as a warning, the bike is programed to my voice and can selfdestruct if you choose to betray me. But if not then we can both leave happy.''

He then decided to show off is agility and flexibility by aiming himself towards a larger tree. Once close enough he lept straight up and grabbed the branch closest him. Flinging himself forward, but mainting grip, allowed him to soar till he was doing a handstand on the branch, he then proppelled himself off the branch and onto another where he barely touched down before leaping again, dodging any that would slow him down

Corliss glances at the door to the pool room again, then commands the computer to open the Skimmer's hatch and extend the ramp.

"Thank you again, Ossanlin," he says, a bit stiffly.  "I'm...going to see if I can communicate with her."  He rubs the back of his neck.  "And I'll probably need a stiff drink, myself, after all of this."

He pats Ossanlin on his thin shoulder, giving Efaen a last wary look before heading toward the pool room.

Salem was about to say something along the lines of 'I don't betray my partners' when Vlad leaped into the canopy above. Salem in slowed down to avoid hitting any trees and watched Vlad's little acrobatics show. The guy was definitely more physically capable than any human Salem had seen. Decently technically skilled, too, judging by the fact that he'd built this bike "from scratch." Salem resolved to keep an eye on him.

Salem caught sight of something in the woods in front of him. It was a shimmering silver- almost definitely an Andalite spacecraft. Or what was left of one, anyway.

"Hey! Over there!" he called to Vlad, pointing. He turned the bike towards it and moved closer.

Corliss steps over to the computer console in the pool room, bringing up the glowing holoscreen and sliding icons along.

He bites his lip, frustrated.

<Cat's got your tongue?> Mike asks.

"I've never tried to access the pool communications on the Skimmer," says Corliss, distracted.  "Ah.  This might work."

He slides an icon and hesitantly says, "Terenia?"

Vlad nods at hearin his new allies words, and flipped to the side and kicked off the tree closest him so he didnt have to slow his tragectory.

Aiming a downward spiral, Vlad slammed into the ground and rolled to an immediate run along side his ally.

''I have a feeling somethin might happen, keep on your gaurd!'' He calmly said, not even sounding slightly short of breath.

He then came to an immediate standstill a few hundred yards from the ship.

<Thank you, sir,> Efan says, a small smile lighting up her eyes despite the obvious concern in her expression. Ossanlin is far from her top choice in Prince, but she is left without a choice at the moment and is determined to make the best of the situation. Evantually, she reminds herself, this may work to your advantage. Perhaps I can use Ossanlin's wrongdoings for my benefit. She waits patiently for Ossanlin to disembark the ship first.

A long silence stretches. When Terenia's thought-speak finally penetrates Corliss' mind it is tight with restrained emotions.

<What.>

It isn't a question.

Mar nods at Salem as he leaves and watches him disappear out the door. Mar was almost glad he left. The images that Salem's machine was leaving now were even more personal than before. The machine was displaying the recovery process Mar had gone through after the incident and several other moments of weakness. Mar watches as the machine readouts display how he had felt at those times, and how the feelings still effect his larger self today.

Mar lies back in his chair. He was willing to wait for Salem. He supposed he would watch the Bar in order to see if anything interesting came his way. This was a strange place after all, full of equally strange mortals.

Keshin sighs, sitting back in his chair. "Well at least I can still get out of here. I can pilot the Bug fighter I dropped off in the Bar. You seem to be flat out of luck. So...we're not just all from different times. We're from different possible variations of the same reality...or..."

Keshin glances around the Bar. "...entirely different places as well. You have to wonder how such a Bar even came to exist."

Corliss swallows.  "You're upset about the outcome," he says, nodding although she can't see him.  "Isn't the idea that Ossanlin can perhaps give you your old body back some consolation?"

He hesitates before adding quietly, "Am I not a consolation?"

<He's lying,> Terenia says immediately. <Another false promise from the mighty Andalites. Why should I expect him to deliver when he's done such a fantastic job of it so far?> Her tone grows more bitter the more she speaks.

<And what consolation are you if I can't even see you?> she adds bitingly. <If you won't even really help me when I need you?>

"What would you have me do, Terenia?" Corliss asks, with more hopelessness than anger.  "I can't force Efaen to accept you.  I did what I could to offer you a place within our ranks.  And if you want me to feel badly that you cannot see me, you'll excuse me if I feel relatively little sympathy."

He looks away, exhaling in protest.  "Ossanlin can help you, if it is within his power.  He will help you.  As for me, I suppose I've done all I can do.  If you can't accept that I...that both of us care about you, then you're stuck with us anyway.  I would've thought that that was a better fate than living under the thumb of a creature as vile as Visser Three."

"They're called Yeerks," Illim says and then amends, "We are. I'm one, too. We're a parasitic species that can thrive in our natural state--not too different from slugs--but we prefer to have a host body. We can access our host's memories, so we can mimic well enough that you'd never know we were controlling them."

"No clue," Elayne shrugs with a sigh. "I just know I'm stuck here. There are a few perks," she says, her gaze drifting to Mar for a brief moment before snapping back to Keshin, "but it's mostly been trouble. Not that life on Earth was preferable, necessarily."

There is another pause as Terenia absorbs Corliss' words. When she speaks again the anger is still there, but it is being overrun by another deeper emotion: some combination of fear and sorrow.

<This isn't me,> she says fretfully. <I'm not this blind and deaf slug, swimming through sludge like some sort of leech. That's not who I am! I'm human! And now I've lost that and it makes me sick. I can't live like this.> Her voice shakes, an echo of tears she cannot shed in her current form.

"But what if you haven't?" Corliss demands.  "You at least have the possibility of regaining your humanity in physical form.  Take some consolation in that, and if it is impossible I promise you I will find a way to help you see again."

He takes a few seconds to stop himself from trembling, both himself and Mike awash with emotion.  "Even if it means giving up my own freedom."
