Salem jumped when Vlad landed beside him. Up, he thought. Have to remember to look up in this place. Hork-Bajir, Vampires... I never had that problem on the Andalite world.

He nodded at Vlad, "There are Andalites that come and go at this bar. If you're smelling Andalite, it might not be your guy. The nature of my ship makes it a constant recording device. I've got my friend aboard checking for any S.O.S. activity lately."

As if on cue, Al's voice came on over his communicator, "Hey, I've got something, just a little while ago. Distress call, directed into space, which explains why I didn't hear it the first time around. Looks like an Andalite ship about a half mile south of you, in the woods. It's weird... it looks like it hasn't been there long, but I can't find record of it landing."

"Thanks, Al," Salem said in his communicator. Turning to Vlad, he shrugged. "I'll go check that one out. Is it the direction you were headed?" he asked, pointing behind him, south into the woods, with his thumb.

Vlad nodded, ''It is. Do you need transportation? I can let you use my bike if so, seeing as how i do not need it.''

"The aliens were blue mammals with no mouths, four eyes, two arms, four legs, and a muscular tail with a blade on the end. The Human was...you know, just a woman. At least she seemed that way to me." Derrel looked around, almost like one of them would walk into view. "Probably already left me to my own devices on this rock."

<Perhaps there is too much power in it. Is there any way to test if it's overloaded?> Claxter said.

Illim's eyebrows raise dramatically. "You're describing Andalites," he exclaims in surprise.

<A pair of Andalites kidnapping and working alongside a human? This doesn't smell right,> he murmurs to his host.

<My people work alone. They would not ask for a human's assistance, nor would they ever work with a Yeerk. If she was a Yeerk, though, then she must have been a member of the rebellion,> Serid responds, his reflexive Andalite pride giving way to thoughtful consideration. <I suppose it is possible that Ertoran and I are not the only members of our species amenable to the idea of working alongside the rebels.>

"Well that's all very interesting...." Illim says, folding his arms and drumming his fingers on them. "You know, aliens have their politics, too. Cooperation like you're describing doesn't happen much."

"I'm not totally surprised. Humans have problames getting along with each other. What are the chances of people from entirely different planets getting along much?" Derrel said.

"I'll see what I can do." Temrash said. "I don't really want to be in this war anymore either, but my leaving it won't make it go away. I don't want the Council taking over the whole galaxy, and I don't want my people being eliminated in case the Andalites manage to pull off a win."

Tamrash had a point, but she couldn't bring herself to pick a side.  <I'm not a fan of the rebels either.  I don't believe that a sentient being can be a truly willing host without being as broken as Amy is.>

Salem stared at Vlad's "bike" apprehensively. He wasn't sure what Vlad meant by not needing it. After a few seconds, he turned to Vlad.

"Sure, I'll give it a shot," he said with a shrug. He didn't need it either, but he wasn't one to turn down a chance to try out unfamiliar technology. He walked over to the bike and looked down at it. "So how do I make it go?"

And so Vlad shows him how to start the bike, and shows him the elevation lever, ''If u lift this youll raise higher. And this is the throttle, thats how u go.''

Having shown his newfound ally how to ride his bike, Vlad turned and began using his supernatural speed running towards the scent. He wasnt the fastest Vampire, only capable of toping out at 25mph. But it worked

Ossanlin nods as Reven finishes his speech and the feed cuts out.  <Well, that could've gone better.>

Ossanlin turns his main eyes on Efaen.  <What am I to do with you until we return to the Tyrennian?>  Ossanlin sighs.  <I realize you don't like the idea but I'm certain you're familiar with the law on this matter...and if you are not, I will inform you.  You have been out of the military for several years, no doubt your former Prince has reported you missing or deserted.  In either of these cases, the highest-ranking member of the military to locate you becomes your commanding officer at least until the matter has been processed through the beaurocracy.  That means I'm your Prince now, and since you've stated that you wish to return to the military, I find I must enforce this regulation.>

<When I leave you will come with me to the Tyrennian where I will find some function for you until this matter has been dealt with and you have been reassigned.  Until we return to the ship...>  Ossanlin sighs again.  <I see no way around this...I cannot leave you locked in my med-bay the entire time.  I am issuing you a standing order not to injure or impair anyone except in the defense of your own life.  I am further ordering you not to leave the general vicinity of the bar without my permission.  If I hear that you have caused injury without provocation, or have instigated an attack upon yourself in order to make self-defense necessary, I will have you immediately detained and you will face charges upon our return.  I promise you that you will not see action again for a very, very long time if you disobey this order.  If you desert, well you know the punishments in order for deserters.>  Ossanlin holds Efaen's gaze for several seconds to make sure the impact is taken to heart.  Efaen sounded much like the letter-of-the-law type, and if she was, she would know that Ossanlin was acting perfectly within legal statutes, if taking the interpretation of the law a bit more harshly than usual.

He glances up at Corliss.  <I apologize for the intrusion...I had hoped this would go much better than it did.>

Ossanlin projects his "voice" to Terenia herself, switching to private thought.  <<I am sorry Terenia, it seems I have failed in my objectives with you.  I know you won't believe me, but I honestly meant to help you, not harm you.  It seems I have wronged you not once but twice.  I do not expect forgiveness, so I will not ask for it.>>  Ossanlin pauses for a moment.  <<There is still some hope to reclaim your lost body...if my people have the technology to rid you of nothlitization, it must be possible to do so again.  And I may be able to use my abilities to isolate and copy your body's genetic information from Efaen's morph...and perhaps project that into usable biological data...I must wait before I attempt to access my abilities again, but I will attempt to acquire your morph from Efaen's morph before we leave this planetoid.  That is all I can do to help you for now, I apologize.>>  Ossanlin falls silent, feeling somewhat empty within.

"Well that's... surprisingly reasonable of you," Illim laughs. "You seem to be taking all this in stride, though I guess being abducted and dragged to some strange space bar would help cement your new reality."

He adjusts his shoulders, leaning against the Bar wall, surveying the human curiously. "So how much do you really want to know about what's going on here? Or are you just trying to get home without getting more involved?"

"I'm not a scene maker by any stretch. What's done is done, and I don't intend to try to make a fool of myself by getting in anyone's face. As for how much I want to know...I guess enough for me to understand my situation, but not enough to get me in too much trouble." Derrel said.

"To be perfectly honest, the main reason my host Jagill is voluntary is because he was broken. We started getting close to each other when we fell in love with another controller. Right now we're collaborating because I want to help my people, and he wants his planet back. I have seen numerous voluntary controllers in my time, but I don't know the full stories of why they became voluntary. It is rare for a sentient creature to find use for a parasite. Something that is worth being controlled for three days at a time." Temrash said.

Illim snorts. "You already know enough to get yourself in trouble. If you so much as mentioned Andalites to the wrong person on Earth, you'd find that... several liberties you currently enjoy would be removed." He drums his fingers on his forearms. "Suffice it to say that there are many aliens on Earth, and that you'll probably be seeing quite a few changes there in the coming years, no matter the outcome of the war."

Among all the words that Temrash said "love" stood out.  <I fell in love with Amy's husband.  Both of us tried to keep him from being infested or killed.  About two days ago he was infested and Amy and I locked him away hoping to starve out the Yeerk.  We were discovered and he was killed.>  Taylis realized that she was sharing the story for the first time.  <Sorry, I didn't mean to lay my sob story on you.>

Amy sat next to the lady with the straws again.

"If I'm screwed either way, you might as well lay it on me. At least then I'd know what to look out for." Derrel said. "How do these aliens in the Sharing pose as Humans? Or whatever they're doing."

"It's ok. I don't know if I've ever had intimate feelings for an alien, though I've heard about cases like that. Yeerks getting too involved with their host, and feeling sympathy for the same species they're controlling."

Fiona doesn't glance up as the woman sits next to her. "Back already?" She carefully places the last straw and sits back to look at it, feeling oddly satisfied. "I thought it was supposed to take longer than that."
