Bear trotted up the ramp and saw the Hork-Bajir. <<I think that one of those his him.>>

Kevlin noticed the dog. He nudged Temrash. "Do you think that's an actual dog?"

Terenia shakes her head, her anger simmering down only to be replaced by sadness.

<<I destroyed the data when I escaped,>> she says regretfully. <<I didn't want anyone benefitting off of my pain. They may have recreated it, but there is no way for me to know.>>

She tries for an Andalite smile, but it falls flat. In her mind she is recounting the time she spent in her human form, saying goodbye to her humanity. Even if I get another human host, she thinks, it will not be the same. It is more than losing herself, it is as though she is losing Tamora all over again.

<<I hope this makes you happy,>> Terenia says to Efaen coldly. Efaen does not answer, but it doesn't take much effort for Terenia to see that it does.

<Alright,> Terenia says openly, taking a deep breath. <Here goes nothing.> She leans her upper body forward, tilting Efaen's head so that her right ear hovers just inches above the murky pool. Weak Andalite hands cling to the lip of the tub, providing extra support, determined to hold onto her body for as long as possible.

"I wouldn't make any assumptions." Temrash said. "Hello. What brings the two of you over?" He asked them.

Claxter grabbed the hypostore and exited the ship, then took a place at the table Silver chose. <If we are to help the Andalite in here, we'll have to let him out. Preferably aboard the Mirage or some other secure location.>

Mar notes Salem's conversation with the...unusual stranger, but seems utterly unconcerned. People of his type were rather commonplace due to the Source's effects on other universes and realities. They almost always crumbled at the approach of a true Highest, although Mar was hardly in a position to have such an effect. He wondered dimly what the creature wanted, however. ...I must keep an eye on Salem's device. These newcomers cannot become involved in my life.

Mar's eyes widen as he watches what the machine dredges up. It's showing a man glowing with light, screaming as his entire left side burns away into the darkness. The man hurriedly grasps what's left of his arm and presses something on it. He also seems to look out at the screen and gasp a word desperately. Possibly someone's name. Mar closes his eyes hard.

When Mar comes to look at Salem again, he says, "...avoid selling what you see until you are far out of range of my territories. You may be able to grasp where these are. I have...appearances to keep up. It seems to be interpreting some of my memories in a mortal context, though it clearly only works so well."

Keshin listens to Elayne's description of the Bar and blinks in confusion. What she appears to be suggesting is that this Bar exists in the same location at all points in space-time that it intersects. Which, as far as she knows, is impossible. Yet the fact that nearly everyone in this Bar seems to know her already gives an air of truth to the woman's words. Keshin rests her back against the table, thinking.

"So wherever you are from, the Empire did not win the war for Earth," mutters Keshin. "...how is that possible? Did the Andalites arrive sooner than we calculated? ...the fact that I'm even contemplating this is insane. I can tell you that I am not young in the Empire's service, although my position is new. Did you...personally experience our defeat? How soon was it where you are?"

Corliss cautiously steps back, out of the range of Efaen's tail, watching.

As an afterthought he draws his Dracon and sets it to stun, keeping it low at his side.

Terenia disengages from Efaen, holding on to each sense as long as she possibly can before relinquishing it. She has done this many times before, but there is a finality in this that is unfamiliar. When Terenia's eyes go dark it is with the knowledge of permanence. There is still a chance that Efaen will return to claim her, but that chance is so slim that Terenia hardly dares to hope.

The white-knuckled Andalite fingers relax as Terenia drops into the pool with an audible splash, relinquishing full control to Efaen.

Salem continued curiously watching the images that floated by, projected by the device, then looked back at Mar and nodded. "Of course. The information will stay safely locked away until I'm sure I'm outside of your influence. Like you said, this thing has its limits." He smiled, "Without more context, I can really only guess at what most of this means. From what I've seen of my own scan, it's really only capable of showing the most powerful or emotional memories clearly."

Reven shakes his head.  "No, I'm afraid her only other chance at survival would be to secure a reliable Skrit Na trader who wouldn't sell information on her whereabouts at the slightest hint of Imperial questioning," he says grimly.  "I am willing to take on the human nothlit girl, but she may remain hostless for some time.  There are enough of our good people who cannot do much more than communicate with us through the poolside computer relays, I can't just add her to the top of the list because she used to be human."

He sighs.  "I wonder what's taking them so long."

In the next room, Corliss watches Efaen regain control of her body with a mixture of apprehension and disdain.

Trey is less surprised by these questions of Keshin's. He knows now a bit more of how this place works, and even though the question was for Elayne, he offers his own version of events.

"Where - when - I am from the Yeerk Empire was defeated over twenty years ago," he says softly. "I did not see it myself, but my parents did. They fought for the Empire and lost. They would tell me stories about it, when I was small."

Efaen's eyes lost their focus briefly, torn between Yeerk and Andalite control. Now they regain clarity, her pupils pinpricks of black within green as she seeks out Corliss' face. Slowly she rises back to her full height, forcing back the shakiness that lingers from Terenia's control and her various bouts of unconsciousness. Her tail is held comfortably at shoulder-height. Not threatening, but not letting her guard down either.

She gives Corliss a cool look of superiority, but does not address him. Glancing back at the Yeerk Pool with obvious distaste she walks out of the room and back to the bridge.

Bear let his tail droop. He looked intimidated by the two large Hork-bajir. <<You respond. Remember, I'm a regular dog.>> He said to Taylis.

Corliss bites his lip and follows Efaen back to the bridge, Dracon still drawn.

<What do you make of that, then?> Mike asks.

<Clearly she's decided to become good friends with us,> says Corliss blandly.

<And you'll just let her go?>

<Why not?> Corliss snaps.  <Good riddance.  She's been nothing but trouble.>

Mike sighs, reluctant.  Then he adds, <You won't miss her, either?>

<That body is not Terenia.  It's just an echo of her past.  It's her bloody sibling!>

<Her identical twin,> Mike interjects.  <You'll excuse me if I feel little attraction to a slug, even if...>

<Even if that's all you've been attracted to this whole time.  I see,> says the Yeerk irritably.

He seems to realize he's brought Mike to a stop in front of the comm link display, glaring down at the ground with his eyes tracking unconsciously.

Reven regards Efaen without a word, and then purses his lips at his brother.

"Cat got your tongue, Cor?" he asks with an edge of humor.

Corliss looks up at the red-headed human man who has been the body of his brother and his friend simultaneously for the last ten years.

"No," Corliss mutters, shifting uncomfortably.

Ossanlin glances over at Efaen.  <So you have control again?  Do you truly think me a traitor Efaen?>

Taylis began to shack slightly, she didn't know if it was the hunger or the fear.  "I need to feed in a Yeerk pool.  My host won't give you trouble."

Vlad nods with a sigh, ''Shadow realm. Thats where Uruk originates, thats why I am a race of vampires.'' He said with a smile that revealed diamond hard, razor sharp insors, ''And as for physical marks, his tailblade is grown from his back and he has scars covering his face. He has been in several wars ya see. But on an all together level, he is a well respected mutant.''

Efaen's cool gaze drops somewhat when it lands on Ossanlin, and she gives him a customary bow of her tail and stalks because it is how she is expected to act in front of a captain. When she speaks, her thoughts are cautiously respectful.

<Prince Ossanlin, I respect your many successes,> she says slowly. Translation: You've done a lot of good things, but that doesn't mean I'm going to ignore the fact that you are breaking the law. <I would, however, be remiss if I did not say that I am concerned about your allegiances. I have no doubt that you mean well, but meaning well often has disastrous results.> Translation: don't turn into the next Seerow, you idiot. <I know that you think you can trust these things,> she gestures to Reven's face on the viewscreen without meeting his gaze, <but it is not unheard of for them to take good intentions and twist them to their own will.>

Terenia stays as still as possible in the Yeerk Pool, soaking in nutrients that she really does not need, listening to the thought-speak parts of the conversation that she can hear. She does not offer her own opinion; it is clear that at this point she is not wanted or needed.
