"Hm..." Trey says noncommitally, wondering what her version of Earth must be like. Very different from 2010 on my Earth, that's certain. Trey takes another, smaller, sip of his Coke and leans back in his chair. For the first time since entering the bar he actually feels somewhat comfortable, despite the fact that he looks as though he just walked out of a losing bar brawl. As if to remind him that he isn't really in top condition his head pangs painfully. He winces, raising a hand to the bandage wrapped tightly around the right side of his head to see if any blood has seeped through.
"So," Trey says, lowering his hand, "if you're from a time where Earth was still planet-bound how'd you get here? Did the Skrit Na abduct you or something? They have a bit of a tendency to do that, though I've never heard of them taking anyone from Earth."
<Maybe...> Terenia allows. It is obvious from her tone that she does not believe him, but also that she wants to believe him. She wants to be able to think that what she did really was best for Tamora, and that others recognized her insanity too. Somehow she doubts that, though. Still, it is something to hold on to.
<Do you think...> Terenia trails off, feeling awkward about asking the question that she has been mulling over ever since she spoke to Mike following Tamora's murder. Even if he gives her the answer she wants, she isn't sure if she'll be able to believe him. She has to ask, though.
<I really...really...don't want to go back to the Empire,> Terenia begins again, her "voice" shaky. <I know it is what Efaen wants, for her own reasons. As soon as she is convinced that I am not going to go crazy and kill everyone we talk to she will try to convince me to return. I just...it's been a long time since I've been free of the Blade Ship for this long, and strange as it sounds it has been one of the most relaxing couple of days I've had in awhile.> She laughs bitterly, a series of electronic pulses. <How insane is that?>
