((Jax.. in response to your comment: Well I'm super super glad you still read it! :) ))

Chapter Forty

“Uh.. hi Elle” I said. “I’m just going to leave, I’m sure you don’t mind.” I sped towards her with my super speed, but she splayed out her hands and made electricity fly all around her.
I tried to be quick enough to run past it but I couldn’t, it electrocuted me.

“Yah!” I fell to my knees. Dammit, I didn’t like being electrocuted...

Elle walked over to me. “After all this damage you’ve caused, it doesn’t look like you’ll be in level 3 after all.” She shocked me again, throwing some electricity at me.

I really didn’t like being electrocuted. I stood up with my super speed and punched her in the face. She didn’t see it coming, but when I hit her I got shocked again. Stupid electricity.

I glanced around quickly. If only there was a tap or a drinking fountain, or something!
“You know, the security is really bad in this place.” I said.

I concentrated on the air again, trying to make it so I was sucking the air away from Elle.
She coughed, but she managed to speak. “The security may be bad, but at least I didn’t come without backup!”
Someone appeared out of the door to the left which I hadn’t even noticed. They shot a tazer thingy at me, and I fell to the ground shuddering. Elle stopped coughing and walked over to me.
I was still conscious, and really ticked off.

“Let’s get her in a holding cell, now.” Elle said to the other guy who had tazered me. Jerk.

“Where are you taking me?” I mumbled. Way too much electricity for one day.

We walked down the hallway towards the elevator. I watched the numbers at the top of the elevator. 1...2...3....4... what the!

“You’re more dangerous than we took into account.” Elle said. “Maybe we could put you on Level 4.. But it’s better to be safe than sorry.”

I was contemplating a witty comeback.. only to discover I had none. The elevator doors opened to Level 5.

I was still able to walk but I really didn’t feel too good. We walked past one cell, a man sitting in the middle of the room with a weird thing over his face so he couldn’t talk. The next cell there was a man throwing fire at the window over and over again.

We walked past a couple more cells. They were all a lot older than me and male.
“So I’m the first female to be locked up on this level?” I asked, not expecting an answer.

The next cell was mine. Elle opened the door. “I’ll leave you to it.” She said, and turned to walk away.

I used that moment to use all the energy I had left. I manipulated the air around me one last time.

“I don’t think so..” The guy holding my arm said. He pushed me into my cell and quickly locked up the door. Dammit. I watched through the window as he turned to walk away.

I sat down on the bed and glanced around. Bed, toilet, door, window. That was pretty much it. There was also a vent high above me, but there was no way I could reach it without having my fire so I could fly up there.

Then I remembered something. One of the only things I knew about Level 5 was that they all escaped. I didn’t know when, but at least I had that to hold on to.

I woke up in the morning and there was food in my room near the doorway. I walked over to it and glanced out of the window. I couldn’t really see any of the other inmates, but I could see two security guards wandering the halls. I ate the food quickly, then moved the bed so it was directly under the vent. I stretched out but I couldn’t reach the vent.

I jumped, and I still couldn’t reach the vent. Dammit. Was there any one of my powers that could help me escape? My fire maybe but that was the only one I couldn’t use. Well, I guess there were worse situations I’ve been in.. Maybe..

I listened to the random shouting of the other inmates.

“I’m Peter Petrelliiiii!” The man in the next cell cried out. Oookay.

I sat on the bed and drifted off to sleep through boredom.

“You come to see me, baby, or what?” An inmate shouted, waking me up.

I wiped my eyes sleepily and watched as Elle walked past my cell. I got up and walked to the window.

I heard her opening a cell and talking to someone. Something about Sylar.  I moved to the right and I could see a bit more out of the window.
Sylar was walking up from the right, and sent Elle flying through the air. I smiled coz it was awesome.

“Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!” She screamed.

I basically had front row seats to it all. Noah Bennet was out of his cell and shot Sylar several times. He looked pretty dead, but all of a sudden he turned his head and spoke.

Noah went flying through the air a second later, landing in front of the cell next to me.

“Sylar! You bastard!” The guy yelled. It was the guy who kept yelling about being Peter Petrelli.

Sylar spoke to Elle, I couldn’t really hear him through the glass. He was holding a gun, and he turned it to gold. He must have killed Bob to be able to do that.
He tossed the gun away and spoke again. Then he pointed his index finger of doom at Elle.

Elle screamed. Her power went crazy, and she sent electricity flying everywhere. Sylar was thrown a few feet away and all the lights went out.

And the best thing happened. My cell door opened. Just like that. I heard some creaking as all the other doors were opened at the same time.

I walked out cautiously. I picked up the discarded golden gun, just in case.

“Let’s get out of here!” Someone shouted.

“Get this thing off me” A black guy with a straight-jacket on said. He was walking out of his cell and trying to get it off. Some guy with glasses helped him.

A man walked past me. “Elle, it’s me, Peter. You okay?”
Elle was opening her eyes and looking confused.

“Peter?” I asked. The man looked up at me. I didn’t really recognize him. “Why do you look like that?”

“Claire.” He said. “What are you doing here-“

“Jesse. Come on, we gotta go before they lock us back up!” The black guy from before came up and grabbed Jesse/Peter’s shoulders.

“Claire, you coming?” He asked me.

I was glad that none of the inmates looked interested in a fight. They all just wanted to get out of there.

I looked around and saw Noah dragging Sylar into a cell.
“I don’t know Pete, how can I pass up an unconscious Sylar?” I grinned and ran off with Peter down the hallway.
“Now tell me, why do you look like some other guy?”

“I don’t know.. My future self did something to me.” He replied.

“Yeah, I spoke to him a while ago. Weird guy.”

We ran down a few flights of stairs to the exit.

“Wait a sec.. all my stuffs inside. My phone, wallet, keys, clothes”

“Hurry up!” Shouted the black guy.

“Just a sec!” Peter shouted back. “Okay, we’ll get the stuff. We just have to hurry.”

“It’ll be quicker if I use my super speed.” I said, and sped off to find a place it might be. I found Bob’s office. Bob was sitting in his chair with the top of his head and brain removed. Gross.

There was a room next to it that said “Confiscated items”

I saw my bag hanging up on a wall. I pulled out my jacket and put that on quickly, and ran back to meet up with Peter.

We ran out of the building and met up with the other villains nearby.

“Let’s get the hell out of here!” One of them said with a Texan accent (at least I think it was Texan). It was the pyro guy. I had heard the others call him Flint. He was playing around with fire in the palm of his hand.

“Who are you?” The black guy said.

“What, you think coz I’m a girl I’m not good enough for Level 5?” I said, manipulating Flint’s fire and stealing it so it was in the palm of my hand instead of his.

“Still, I don’t know you. You could compromise what we’re trying to do.”

“We don’t have time. Let’s go.” A guy with glasses and a German accent said.

((Sorta long coz I didn't know where to end it, but I like how I ended it now.. cliffhanger dun dun dunnn!))

Chapter Forty One

We were several blocks away from the Company when they broke in to a clothing store and grabbed some new clothes for themselves.
They went to a petrol station next.

“We’ll wait until a car comes, and we’ll take it.” Knox said. I had finally learned the black guys name.

Peter walked over to the pay phones.

“Who are you calling?” I asked. I wanted to stay with him as much as possible, coz I really didn’t trust the others.

“I gotta warn my brother about Future Peter.” He said, and picked up the phone.

I glanced back at the others quickly. Flint was playing with fire, right in the middle of a petrol station. Just great.

“Nathan, I’m not even sure if you’re alive or not, but if you get this, you need to look out for someone who looks just like me. He’s got a scar on his face and I think its me from the futu-“ Peter was interrupted by Knox.

“Come on, our ride is here.” He said.

I turned back to the others, and the German guy was beating up some dude. I heard a woman screaming, as Flint threw flames at her.

Holy sheeeeeeeet. I manipulated his flames, making them die out. I put a hologram around the woman so it looked like she was burning. The flames were gone but she was still screaming, which was good for me coz it looked convincing.

I nudged Peter and told him quietly what I was doing. He looked kinda scared. I was scared too, these guys were creepy.

“What are you doing?” Peter asked.

“Just having a little fun, that’s all.” The German replied.

I tried to look tough.. not easy when you’re about to pee your pants. I thought about RAF and I was no longer scared.
The German walked around to the other side of the car. He moved his hand and the doors opened by themselves.
Flint walked past and winked at Peter, before going into the car.
Peter glanced at me. I just shrugged back.

“You coming?” Knox asked from the driver’s seat. “It’s now or never.” I heard sirens in the background.

I quickly sat in the front seat so I wouldn’t have to sit in the back with two of the villains. Peter reluctantly sat in the back seat.

“Where are we going?” I asked Knox. He glanced at me but didn’t reply.

“I’m starvin’” Flint said with his accent.

“Alright, I’ll find a place to stop on the way there just so it shuts you up.”

Most of the car ride was boring, until we reached a diner in New Jersey. I wondered where we were actually going. We were in a town called Poughkeepsie. What kind of name is that, seriously?

My mobile started screaming out the lyrics to a song. I quickly got it out of my pocket to check it out. “Hello?”

“Claire! Where the hell are you, I’ve been trying to call you.. and I’ve texted you so much!” Leonie said frantically.

“Ah crap. Sorry, but I can’t talk right now. I don’t know when I’ll get home. See you soon.”

“Claire, what-“

I hung up and put my phone on silent.

I ran up to catch up with the others and walked into the diner.
After a short wait, we got our food.

I watched Flint eating his massive plate of food. Gross. That guy was weird.

“So.. how did you get stuck in Level 5?” Knox asked. He was sitting in front of me. “You don’t seem like the type at all. I mean, how old are you?”

“I’m 19..and, well.. I’ve been fighting the company for a while.. I shot Bob, the manager or whatever you wanna call him.  It was just too bad that I only got his arm. Plus when I got caught this time, I suffocated a company agent and a guard.”

“You haven’t killed anyone, have you?” Peter asked. He was sitting next to me.

“Nah. That’s lame. I’d ask what you guys did to get stuck in Level 5.. but I’m not 100% sure that I wanna know.” I grinned to make it look like I was just joking around.

I saw Peter glancing around, spotting a pay phone.
“I’ll be back in a second” He said, walking off.

A few awkward minutes later, he had returned to the table.

“Let’s go.” The German said once Peter was back.

I was no longer scared of these guys. So far they hadn’t tried to kill me, so I figured I’d be alright for a while longer. I didn’t really wanna leave Peter by himself, even though I was sure he’d be okay.

We all got in the car again, this time I was in the back seat with Peter and The German dude.
About 10 minutes later we arrived out front of a bank. Oh great.
The others were walking to the bank while Peter was glancing at himself in the window of the car.

“I really look like this guy.. this is so strange.” He said quietly to me.

“Yeah I know. I’m the one who has to look at you and keep telling myself that you are Peter.” I replied, before nodding my head towards the others.
We quickly caught up to Knox, as the German and Flint walked ahead.

“We should come back at night, it’ll be empty.” Peter said.

“That’s not exactly the plan now, is it?” Knox replied. “You’re terrified, Jesse. I can feel it.”
“Is that all your power is? Sensing fear? Psh lame.” I said.

“No.. I can sense fear, and use peoples fear for my own strength.”

“Ookay.” I nodded.

“Why are you so scared, Jesse. She’s not.” Knox said.

“No reason. I’m good.” Peter said quickly.

We walked into the bank as a group and looked around. The German put his hand out in the air and closed all the shutters on the windows, making it darker.
Everyone noticed and started to get alarmed.

“Light it up.” Knox told Flint.

Blue flames appeared in his hands, and he threw it around the room at the people waiting in the lines.
“Everyone on the ground, now!” He shouted.

The people screamed as the fire shot by them, and they ducked to the ground.

“Sit down and face the ground.” Knox said to the hostages.

The German looked up at the video camera in the corner of the room and raised his hand at it, to stop the video feed, I was assuming. He walked over to a safe with Knox. The German concentrated and used his power against the safe.

“Hand over your cell phones, people” I said loudly, going to each person and using a hologram to pretend to seize their phones. I whispered to each person to tell them to be quiet and that I’d help them get out.

I saw one lady about to reach for a panic button. I walked over quickly and bent down. “Hey.” I said quietly. “You want me to stop you from doing that.. or one of those guys?” I jerked my thumb towards the others.

“I’m sorry.” She said, panicking.

“Yeah, you are” Flint said, appearing out of nowhere. He grabbed the woman’s arm and pulled her up. “Maybe you can work it off.”

“Hey, leave her the hell alone.” I stood up and tried to look tough.

He laughed and let go of the woman. “You gonna stop me?” He held up his fist and covered it with blue flames.

“What are you gonna do, try and burn me extra crispy? I’m not as flammable as that person back at the gas station.” I flicked my lighters and covered my hands with flames. “Yeah. I can do it too.”

“Claire” Peter said.

“Don’t get involved Jesse. This is between me and.. where did she go?”

I used my super speed to move away from Flint. I turned back to him. “Sorry, I got bored.”

He glared at me. The German called out a second later. “This is open!”

“Let’s go collect our winnings.” He sauntered over to the safe.

Peter turned to me. “What are you doing? You could get yourself killed!”

“These guys aren’t even worth my time. A bunch of bank robbers? Here I was, expecting something exciting.”

“Jesse, come on” Flint said. Peter followed him off somewhere. I stayed outside with Knox.

Knox came over to me. “I need your cell phone.”

“What? Why?”

“Don’t ask, just hand it over.”

I reluctantly gave him my phone, and he walked over to the other side of the room to call privately.

I used that moment to go over to the hostages, with a hologram around me of course.

I put my finger to my lips and said “Ssshh.”

I spoke quietly, telling them I was letting them go.

They all stood up quietly without talking, only nodding. I walked over to the door silently, like a ghost.
“Just don’t say anything” I said, glancing back at Knox. They got to the door before Knox came walking over.

Ah crap.
He looked around and walked over to the hostages, to grab one of them. Because it was a hologram, his hand went straight through.

“Run for it!” I practically yelled, letting the hostages pass by me and out the door.

Knox came over to me, looking pretty angry.

“This is all of it, lets move!” The German said, coming out of the other room with the other two.

“We have a problem.” Knox said.

Everyone looked outside at the cop cars that were pulling up.

“How the hell did they know we were here?” Flint asked.

“That’s not the problem. The problem is, this girl here is a traitor.” Knox looked at me.

((I'm glad you liked my super awesome *cough*lame*cough* joke :P))

Chapter Forty Two

“Yeah yeah, so what?” I shrugged. “You’re just trying to distract them from the fact you called the police.” I said to Knox.

“You what?” The German hissed.

“Yeah, I called em. It wasn’t all about the money for me. In fact it was more about revenge.”
“See, he’s the real traitor here.” I quickly said.

“It was all about the money for me.” The German said, pulling out a gun from his back pocket.
For a second I thought he was gonna point it at me, but he pointed it at Knox. “I’m gonna take mine, and leave, before the Company shows up.”

“The Company was supposed to show up. While I had the hostages fear powering me up.” He turned to me. “I needed the hostages.”

“I know you did. You need fear, and they had it. Well too bad Knox, your plan is foiled, oh noes!”

“We got what we need, let’s just get out of here!” Peter said desperately.

Knox turned to look at The German and back at me. He wanted a fight, he just wasn’t sure who to pick. I could sense it.

“You’re scared too, aren’t you?” Knox said to the German. Knox looked back at me and punched me.

His fist went through my stomach. It was quite gross actually. I fell to the floor, very dead-like, and such.

Luckily for me, I had already planned it out. I had sped out of the way already, and he was really hitting the wall behind me. I just hoped he was fooled enough.

“Claire!” Peter cried out.

“What?” I said, as I made the hologram flicker and disappear. I waved from a chair in the middle of the room. Knox looked angry, and walked over to me, but I sped over back towards Peter and waved again.
“I’m not scared of you Knox. There’s no way you could get close enough to kill me.”

Flint looked over at me and threw a fireball my way.

“Don’t be stupid, Flint.” The fire blew right past me but didn’t even touch me. I didn’t even have to move. “I obviously can control fire, duh.”

Knox turned back to The German. Before he could make a move, I ran past and grabbed the German’s gun, and hit The German over the head with it. He fell to the floor, unconscious.

“That solves that problem. He was going to ruin your already failed plan.”

“Yeah.. What is the plan exactly?” Flint asked.

I rolled my eyes. “Why do you keep this guy around? He’s an idiot!”

“We stay put, raise hell, and wait for the company man to say ‘when super people do bad things.’”

“That doesn’t make sense.” I interrupted.

He ignored me and continued. “And when he gets here, beat his horn rimmed glasses right into his skull.”

“Ooh. I know him! Like seriously. Saved his life once.”

“You know, it would be best if you stayed quiet, coz you just became our hostage.” Knox said.

“Sure thing.”

Peter looked at me like I was crazy. Which I was. He walked over to the window and stared outside. A few minutes later he finally spoke. “So what if he doesn’t show?”

“He always does. He’s sent to hunt us, and then we’ll get our payback.” Knox replied.

“What if..I don’t want it anymore.” Peter said.

“You sat in that cell month after month, and this is all you would talk about. I never told you.. but it gave me hope.” Knox admitted. “Probably saved my life.”

“Yeah but we’re free now. Why do you wanna tempt fate?”

“What are you so afraid of?”

Uh oh. Knox knew something was up. I had to do something, but what?

Peter shrugged. “I just don’t wanna go back. I don’t like feeling trapped. Powerless. I just wanna go back to my life.”

“Yeah, I bet you can’t wait to get your family and friends in Detroit.”

Ah crap, I’d bet five bucks his family doesn’t really live in Detroit.

“Yeah, exactly.” Peter replied.

“Except Jesse’s family is from Vegas. And he ain’t got any friends!”

While Knox was talking, I sped towards him, and punched him in the face when he got to the word “friends”

He swung back, but missed, which gave Peter the opportunity to lunge forward at Knox. He pushed him back against the wall.
“I can explain!” Peter said.

“Who the hell are you? And how do you know this girl?” Knox used his strength against Peter, throwing him across the room. Ah crap.

I sped over to Peter and helped him up. “You can’t be scared of him. It gives him his strength. Think about something else!”

“Listen, somebody put me inside the body of this guy. I had nothing to do with it and there’s nothing I can do about it!” Peter tried to explain.

“We’re supposed to believe that?” Flint walked over from the corner. I think he had fallen asleep or something, who knows, but that guy was stupid.

I stood in front of Peter. “Can you use your usual powers by any chance?” I whispered.

“No, they don’t work.”

“Well, that’s.. um.. crap.” I turned to Knox. “Your super strength is no match for Super Claire!” I said as I used my super speed to punch him several times, and each time he tried to hit me back he missed.
“You’re just too slow see, and you have nothing to do with all that strength.”
Flint tried to go over to Peter. I stopped him and stuck my foot out in front of him. He tripped over, it was quite funny actually. Little did I know, he was just a distraction so that Knox could get to Peter.

Knox grabbed him by the neck. I stopped immediately and stood still.
“Aha, a weakness. You two obviously know each other from somewhere.”

“Stop this, Knox. I already told you, somebody put me in the body of this guy!”

“Then why’d you stick around? You had plenty of chances to bail.”

“You said you were gonna hurt people. I couldn’t let that happen.”

“Yeah, it’s easier to capture bad guys when you’re hanging out with em.” I said. “You’re going down, Knox.”

“Now I know you guys are full of it. Nobody’s that heroic.”

“Holy shizz, look! It’s HRG!” I said, pointing out the window. “He’s on his way inside.”

Noah walked to the door with his hands out in front of him.

“Sit down, both of you.” Knox said. “Thanks to your fear, you guys aren’t going anywhere.”

“Hey, I am not scared.” I protested. “Darn you Peter.” I added quietly.

Knox went over to the door, and made Noah sit on a chair in the middle of the room. Noah looked over at me and Peter/Jesse. I gave him a small wave.

“We’re hostages, isn’t it great?” I smiled.

“Shut up.” Flint said back to me.

“You ruined my life!” Knox said angrily to Noah.

“You’re a criminal, Knox.” Noah replied calmly.

“Criminals get trials. Laywers. Me, I got stuck in super-Guantanamo.”

Without meaning to, I started to laugh. In a hostage situation, I was just sitting there chuckling quietly. Yeah I really was crazy.

“You got a bum rap, is that it?” Noah said.

I laughed again, causing Peter to give me a weird look.

“I think you get off being judge, jury and executioner.”  Knox said. “Now it’s my turn.”

“Knox. You don’t have to do this, you can walk away!” Peter attempted. “You’re free now!”

“Shut up!” Knox shouted.

“Very intelligent there, Knox.” I said, and clapped my hands.

“I’m done listening to you!”

“No! No one dies TODAY!” Peter yelled. He was facing Flint, and his voice got louder, sending shock ripples through the air, knocking Flint to the ground.

“Badass.” I grinned.

((I am in super writing mode lately :D))

Chapter Forty Three

Peter was shocked at the new discovery of Jesse’s power. He stood up and faced Knox, who actually looked scared for a second.

“LISTEN TO MEEEEEE!” He shouted, sending more shock waves or whatever you wanna call them at Knox.

Knox fell backwards to the ground, and Noah’s chair fell to the ground.

“Peter, your power is awesome! Good job!” I said.

He turned to me and looked at me strangely. “Peter’s not here anymore.”

“Oh, crap.” He swung his fist at me but I easily ducked and sped out of the way.

I went over to Noah. “Sup? Need some help?” I held out my hand and helped him stand up, although he didn’t really need help, coz he’s too badass for that.
“Do you have a gun?” I asked hopefully.

He shook his head. “Well what good are you?” I said as I stepped back towards Jesse and took a swing at him with super speed.

“You can go already. We don’t need you here anymore.” Jesse said from the ground.

“Yeah? Well you… um.. suck!” I replied.

“Turn yourself in. Nobody has to get hurt.” Noah said.

“Who the hell do you think you are?” Knox said angrily.

I looked behind him and noticed Sylar standing there. My fan-girl heart was happy again. I grinned without even meaning to.

“Just a guy with a partner standing right behind you.” Noah said calmly.

Sylar held his hand out in front of him, and used his telekinesis to stop Knox in his tracks.

“Did I hear that correctly? Partner? Sylar? Whoa. I don’t get it.” I said.

Flint started to stand up, finally. His hands were covered in blue flames. I held my hands out in front of me dramatically and stole his flames. I used my air power again so he couldn’t breathe.
“You might learn something, Flint.” I said. “No oxygen, no flame.” His flames died out, and he sunk to his knees coughing.

Jesse turned to me and tried to use his ability on me. Noah grabbed a gun lying on the ground and shot his arm. He fell to the ground holding his shoulder.

“I told you to stay put!” Noah shouted at Sylar.

“You told me that to make sure I wouldn’t, didn’t you?” Sylar replied.

“Badass.” I said. I liked to use that word a lot.

The German dude stood up on the other side of the room. I seemed to be the only person who noticed.
“Um, Sylar or someone? The German dude’s awake” I said.

Sylar used telekinesis to freeze him in the spot. Well that was easy.

“All of you, sit down on the ground with your hands out where we can see them!” Noah instructed. He stood up and forced Jesse to stand up too, tying his wrists behind his back.

“So what do we do now?” Sylar asked.

“I’ll get him patched up, and tell the locals these are federal prisoners and get them back to Level 5.” Noah replied, as he started to leave the bank.

“Yeah, okay.” Sylar said. He stopped leaning against the wall and looked around. Uh oh, he had some sort of look in his eye. He was looking at Flint.

Knox took the chance to bolt, but I quickly sped past him and tripped him. I looked back at Sylar. Noooooo! I couldn’t let him kill Flint! A pyro Sylar would NOT be a good idea. I left Knox and ran back to Sylar.

“I don’t think you wanna do that, Sylar.” I said, trying to stay calm. I let Knox get away!

“Wait, what are you doing?” Noah rushed back to the door, but Sylar shut it. “He’s getting away!”

“You were right, I am just a killer.”  Sylar said.

“Oh geez. You know how many times we’ve fought, Sylar? Well it’s heaps of times and you still haven’t managed to kill me yet. I can’t let you kill Flint.”

I quickly sped towards Sylar, but he raised his hand and I went flying backwards through the air. In the commotion, Flint had actually come up with the smart idea of running for it. He was gone, but Sylar didn’t even seem to notice.

Noah was still pounding on the door and yelling at Sylar. Sylar pointed his index finger of doom at me. Nooooo!
I looked just past Sylar, there was a floating gun in the air. I raised my eyebrow. Sylar turned to look at the gun and it shot him.

Ha, I had forgotten about the German dude yet again. I stood up as Sylar healed. He raised his finger at the German instead.

I walked over to Sylar, but he telekinetically threw me backwards again. “Curse you Sylar!” I grumbled as I landed. Oh well. It was only the German dude. He had the same basic power at Sylar anyway, just only with metal things.

I heard Noah talking to Sylar, as he hesitated to kill The German. “You can fight it.”

“No. I don’t think I can.” Sylar replied. “It’s the hunger.” The German screamed as Sylar killed him. Pleasant.

I stood up and walked over after Sylar was finished wiping blood off of his hands.

Noah came inside finally. “Let’s get back to the Company.” He was angry.

“Can I come to? I can help you put the Level 5 people back where they belong. You know I don’t belong there.” I said hopefully.

“I think I’ll need help.” Noah said.

“Yeah, Sylar’s a bit of a loose cannon.” I said, looking at Sylar. “I don’t understand, why are you partners? For one, I thought you were both captured, plus Sylar nearly killed Claire..”

“I’m just trying to put these guys away where they belong.” Noah replied. “I don’t know what his agenda is.”

It was a very awkward car drive back to the company. Flint and Knox had gotten away, The German was killed, but we had Jesse in custody, and he seemed like the more harmless one.

Since Bob was dead, Angela Petrelli was running the company. She escorted Sylar back to a cell.

“I want to help find all the missing Level 5 villains.” I said to Angela. “I could’ve stopped Knox and Flint from getting away if it weren’t for Sylar. Why do you have him as an agent, doesn’t he hate the company by now?”

“He’s my son.” She replied.

“I doubt that very much, but whatever. You can go ahead and try and lock me back up, but it’s not a good idea. I can help.”

She took a few minutes to think before answering. “Come back tomorrow.”

“Alright.” I said, and turned to leave. Then I remembered something. “Wait a second. If I help you, it means I have to stay free. No more being locked up. Me or my sister.”

“No promises.” She said.

I smiled. “Then there’s no promises that I won’t burn this place to the ground.” I flicked my lighter and made a small ball of fire in my palm.
“This place is still a paper factory on the outside, right? Well paper burns easily, just remember that.” With that, I turned back and walked away.

When Angela said 'He's my son.' you should have said something like 'And I'm a can opener', would have been funny. ;D

I was wrong... THAT was badass! Way to psych out Angela! I loved that last part! ;D

I also liked the way you casually ignored the revelation that Sylar is her son. And naturally the fight in the bank was awesome, very clever using your air manipulation to put out the Flint's fire.

((Jax, you're right, that woulda been awesome! Where were you while I was writing it :P And thanks Mike for calling this badass.  8) This chapter is slightly shorter than usual.. coz I wanted to end it as a cliffhanger))

Chapter Forty Four

I arrived home a couple hours later, needing sleep so bad.

“What on earth have you been up to?” Leonie said as I walked in the door. “What are you wearing?”

I had totally forgotten I was still wearing the grey pants and grey t-shirt from the Company. I was wearing my blue jacket as well, and my normal shoes.

I put my bag on my bed before answering Leonie. “Oh, just some stuff. Stopping a bank robbery and stuff.”

I explained some more before going to bed and sleeping.

The next day I got to the company earlier than I was supposed to, and took some time to wander the halls. I eventually ran into Noah.

“Hello again.” I said. “So you’re not actually working here again? Just helping out with these villains?”

“Pretty much.” He replied.

I heard a scream down the hallway. “You hear that?” I asked, and took off running towards the scream.

The scream was coming from Angela Petrelli, in Sylar’s cell. All the action was over though.
Peter was on the ground unconscious and Sylar was asking Angela if she was okay. Bit of a change, really. It would normally be Peter in that spot.

Noah gestured for Sylar to come out of the cell, while Angela was just sitting looking at Peter.

“We got a lead on the latest target.” Noah told us.

“And you want me to come with you?” Sylar asked.

“Don’t make this harder than it already is.” Noah replied, and started to walk off, leaving Sylar there. I followed Noah.

“So who’s the target?” I asked.

“Stephen Canfield. Can create vortexes.”

“Vortexes? Riiight. Sounds kinda cool. What was he on Level 5 for?”

“He killed a man, by sending him through a vortex.”

“Is that it? I mean that seems kinda lame for Level 5, it was probably just an accident.” I shrugged. “Maybe he didn’t kill him and the vortexes actually go somewhere. So where does this guy live?”

“Los Angeles.”

“You really don’t talk much, do you?” I said,

15 minutes later, we were on our way to LA.

“Won’t this take like a million years? America is huge!” I said from the back seat of the car. Noah was driving and Sylar was in the front seat. He was wearing his suit again. And looking good, I might add.

I was totally dressed the part. I was wearing my black Rise Against t-shirt, and jeans, with my orange converse sneakers.

Sylar was choosing radio stations while eating an apple. I was bored, so I was playing Mario Kart on my Nintendo DS.

“Just… sit.” Noah said to Sylar. “Just so you know, this was her idea not mine.”

“You mean my mother?”

I laughed when he said that. It just seemed so weird. I really doubted they were related, I didn’t know why. It just seemed like a good plot device the Heroes writers would throw in for fun.

“If it was up to me, I would have left you to rot.”

“No forgiveness, is that it?” Sylar asked.

“You terrorized my daughter, you killed countless others.”

“Rehabilitation doesn’t happen overnight. I am trying.”

“Yeah, I’m still alive, that’s a good sign right?” I smiled at Sylar as he looked in the rearview mirror at me.

“I understand. Killing is just in your nature.”  Noah said.

“But it’s his ability. It’d be harder for you to understand since you’re not like us.” I said. “By the way Sylar, I forgive you! You are fun to fight against though.”

Noah looked back at me, and I shrugged. “Hey Sylar? Did the Shanti Virus take away any of your abilities? Like the freezing and whatnot?”

“How did you know about the virus?”

“According to my files, I was injected by the virus around the same time you were, Sylar. But I didn’t lose any abilities or get sick. Same thing happened to my sister. I’m surprised you’re working for the company after they did that to you.”

“You’re trying to get Sylar to switch sides again?” Noah asked.

“No, I’m just saying.” I put down my DS for a while, and started to read Stephen Canfield’s file.

He didn’t seem like a bad person, just someone who made a mistake. He sent someone through a vortex, and it was most likely just an accident.

Finally we arrived, after a long drive. We had only stopped two times on the way there. I got out and looked at the house, I saw movement inside. I crept over to the window and glanced inside. Claire was in there, talking to Stephen.

“Noah… Claire’s inside.” I said.

He looked alarmed. “Let’s go inside.” He had his gun out, and walked towards the door.

“She doesn’t look like she’s in any trouble though, should we really just barge in?”

He considered it for a second, but it seemed he had decided to just barge in. I rolled my eyes as Noah went inside with his gun, with me right behind. “Claire?”

“Dad?” Claire replied, just as confused.

“He’s your father? You set me up?” Stephen said.

“No, I swear!”

Stephen grabbed Claire and used her as a hostage. “Back off! Drop the gun!”

Sylar walked in. “Let go of the girl!” He shouted.

“Sylar? Dad, what he is he doing here?” Claire asked.

“Canfield, you don’t stand a chance.”

“It’s not over yet. Hold on to something.” He said, and held out his hand.

“Stand back, I will shoot!” Sylar yelled.
Stephen formed a vortex in the middle of the room, and it started to pull everything nearby into the centre of the room.

I sped over to Stephen. “Stop the vortex.. Now!” I grabbed his arm as he tried to run away. He only managed to get to the doorway.

Everyone else grabbed what they could around the room. The pull of the vortex was really strong. I was being dragged towards it.
“I don’t wanna have to hurt you” I said.

Whatever Claire was holding on to wasn’t strong enough, it started to break off. “Dad!” She yelled.

“Claire! Hold on!” Noah shouted.

Claire slipped and let go. Sylar and Noah tried to reach out their hands, but none of them were fast enough to help her.
She fell towards the vortex as I grabbed her arm. Of course, that didn’t help the situation at all, it just caused me and Stephen to be dragged inside the vortex as well.

“CLAAAAAAAA-” Noah started to yell out Claire’s name. It all went silent.

THE END. ;)[/spoiler]

Chapter Forty Five

I opened one eye to look at my surroundings before opening both. My eyes went wide. It was like looking through cloudy water. I could see the entire room but everyone was frozen in place. Claire and Stephen were standing beside me.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

“I don’t know!” Stephen said. “I thought if you go through the vortex.. you just disappear.”

“Well obviously not, can you get us back?”

“I don’t know.”

“Well you better figure it out, we don’t wanna stay here forever!”

“Is Dad okay?” Claire wondered, looking at Noah.

“He’s a lot better than us right now.” I said. I walked to the cloudy wall around us and tried to walk through it. It was solid, like an actual wall. It was like that all around us.

“I don’t know what to do.” Stephen said. He was sitting on the ground.

I started to get a bit worried. I might never see my family or anyone ever again! Be stuck here forever and resort to cannibalism and die here in nowhere land! I grabbed his arm to pull him up.
“Come on, you have to try, you can’t just leave us here!”

“I’ll try but I don’t know what will happen. We could disappear forever.”

“What other choice do we have? I want to see my family again, my house.. back in Aus.. what if I never see them again..”

He put out his arm and created a vortex around us.

I watched as his house disappeared. It was just fading away. I didn’t think that was a good sign. I looked at Claire who looked pretty scared, I probably did too. Even Stephen looked scared. We were standing in darkness, I could barely see them and they were right in front of me.

Finally the light started to pick up again. We were standing.. in my lounge room.

“What the hell?!” I said, confused. We still had a cloudy wall around us. I could see myself sitting at the computer in front of me. I couldn’t believe it, I was sitting there on RAF. I shook my head.
“Why are we in my lounge room looking at myself?”

“I don’t know! You were talking about your house.. and now we are at your house..”

“Then why am I over there? That’s not possible! Do something, we are still stuck!”

Stephen went over to the wall and touched it. He concentrated, and caused a vortex to appear. It basically absorbed the wall, and the cloudy wall was gone.
I looked at myself sitting at the computer. She leaped up and looked at us. She looked kinda scared.

“What the hell?! Who are you? Why do you look like me?”

“Claire, calm down. I’m you.”

She stared at me blankly. “You’re me?”

“Yeah. And this is Claire, you know, from Heroes?”

“Hayden Panettiere?” She said, looking excited and confused.

“Um.. no. Claire from Heroes. Like the character..”

“I’m so confused but I won’t question a miracle! I must be dreaming!" The other me pinched her arm. "Apparently not.. but still, it seems like a dream."

“Claire? Who are you talking to?” My Mums voice called out from the kitchen.

“Myself! Like, literally!” She yelled back.

“We have to go, Claire.” I said to her. The others were too confused to be talking at all.

“Wait! Don’t leave!” She said. She grabbed something off the desk and put it in a plastic bag. “Take this. If that’s really Claire from Heroes..” She paused and shook her head. “Well, I don’t know.. but just take it.”

I turned to Stephen, as I heard footsteps coming toward us from the kitchen. “Stephen! I know you can get us back. Try really hard, I know you can do it!”

“Okay.” He made another vortex and we were sent back to his house. The cloudy wall was back.

Claire looked at me, and noticed how calm I was. “You just met yourself, and got transported through a vortex, but you’re not fazed by that at all?”

“Nah. This ain’t too weird. I’m used to weird.. I am a RAFian after all.”

She gave me a weird look in return, but I just grinned.

“Alright, let’s do this.” I said to Stephen, as he made the wall disappear, and the room was back to normal.

“IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIREEE!” Noah finished yelling Claire’s name. He looked up at us, shocked. He hugged Claire. “I thought..” He started to say.

“I feel left out. No hug for me?” I said. I quickly hugged Sylar, resulting in a strange look. I just smiled back, kind of embarrassed.

Claire and Noah were looking at me strangely as well.

“Oh come on, Sylar is awesome.” I said, and shrugged. I looked back at where Stephen was standing but he was gone.

Sylar ran off looking for him, with no luck. “He’s gone.”

“Oh really? I wouldn’t have guessed.” I said with a grin.

Noah and Sylar turned to Claire.

“Claire? Where did Mr Canfield go?” Noah asked.

“Leave him alone, he doesn’t wanna hurt anyone.” Claire said.

“This isn’t a game.” Noah said. “He’s very dangerous.”

“But his vortexes, they don’t make people disappear!” Claire protested. “And who are you to talk. You brought Sylar here.”

“Where did it take you?” Noah asked.

“It’s really complicated to explain, but it basically takes you wherever you wanna go.” I said.

Noah turned to Claire. “You have to tell me where Mr Canfield went.”

“He’s not a killer. He’s having problems, like I had problems. He just- He didn’t have you to help him.” Claire said.

“Alright. Okay then, just let me talk to him. If what you say is true, we can make other arrangements. You can trust me, Claire. I wouldn’t send anybody to Level 5 that didn’t belong there.”

I laughed when he said that. “How did I end up there then?”

He looked at me. “That wasn’t my decision.”

“He’s at the Griffith Park Carousel.” Claire finally said.

“Thank you Claire.” Noah looked over at Sylar. “Let’s go.”

We all got in the car and drove to the Carousel place. During the car ride, I had decided what I was going to do. I couldn’t let him go back to Level 5, and I was determined to stop that from happening.

Without telling the others, I used my super speed to rush ahead of the others while Noah was telling Claire to go in by herself.

“Stephen.” I said hurriedly. “You’ve gotta get out of here.”

“They never showed. They stood me up.” He said to me.

“I’m sorry.. but you have to leave. If you don’t, you’ll go back to Level 5 and I don’t want that to happen.” I grabbed a pen and piece of paper from my backpack, and wrote my mobile phone number down. “If you ever need help, with anything, just tell me. I live in New York, by the way. Now go, while you still can.”

“Thank you.” He replied.

“Good luck with your family, I hope you can find them and speak to them.”

He created a vortex and walked into it. I waved goodbye, and then Claire came walking up behind me.

“Oh, hey.” I said. “I couldn’t find him. Maybe him and his family met up and left or something.” I shrugged. “Let’s go back to your Dad.”

We walked back quietly, until Claire finally spoke. “You let him go, didn’t you.”

“Yeah.” I admitted. “He didn’t deserve Level 5. I’ve been there, it was a short time but it still counts, and it’s not a nice place.”

“I don’t think he deserved it either.” She said.

My phone rang, just as we got back to the others, and Claire was explaining how he ran away or something.

“Hello?” I answered.

“This is Angela Petrelli.”

“Um, okay.”

“There’s a Level 5 villain in Massachusetts who has just killed again.”

“And you want me to go after them?” I asked.

“Yes, we have a partner organized for you. You don’t need to tell Noah or Sylar the specifics of your mission, just tell them it’s urgent and you have to leave.”

“Okay no worries.” I hung up the phone and said my goodbyes, before flying off towards home.
