<I'm fine,> I replied, removing my jaws from a Hork-Bajir's throat. <Gah, where do they keep coming from?> I said to no one in particular. By now, my fur was stained and dark. One of the Hork-Bajir had left a gash in my left leg, yet I hadn't noticed it till just then. All well. It wasn't bad, and I needed to fight.

A Hork-Bajir entered from the tunnel to my left and tried to shoot me. Tseeeew! The beam sizzled past. <Bad aim,> I said, clamping my teeth into his arm, shaking it, and tearing it from the socket. As I did so, the Hork-Bajir slammed it's wrist blade onto my head. I felt it pierce my flesh and howled in pain, stepping back. Luckily, it had only been the side of the blade. I would live.

I'm not sure how many Hork-Bajir I fought after that. I eventually lost count, slipping into an easy routine, a rhythm, almost. Lunge. Swipe. Fight. Kill.

Then came the Hork-Bajir with the darts...

Three Hork-Bajir with larger weapons entered the cavern. One of them came for me.

The Hork-Bajir aimed his weapon carefully, keeping his eyes on me. He fired before I could attack. I expected to feel the fiery burn of a dracon beam, or the searing pain of a bullet, but instead, I felt only a mild stinging sensation. I looked down to see a small and thin black dart embedded in my fur. When I looked up, the Hork-Bajir began to grow, larger and larger, until it had doubled in size.

But I was still a polar bear. I could take him. I lunged forward and swiped my massive paws at the Hork-Bajir’s legs in an attempt to knock it to the ground. The Hork-Bajir lifted me by my left leg and tossed me aside like a toy. I hit the stone wall with a hard thud. Sparks began to fly from the rock beside me, so I quickly scooted away, in case it caught fire.

Why couldn’t I knock him down? I asked myself. It didn’t make any sense. Shouldn’t my attack have at least caused him to stumble backward? I glanced down. It took me a moment to realize that I was staring at a pair of small, human hands. Not paws. I grabbed the small, black dart and pulled it from my skin. Realization dawned on me.

“Ais! Edward! Other man whoever you are. Watch a out! The uh, the darts! The darts of the morphing of demorphing… The—the darts you might go out of… Morph!” I shouted. Red began to cloud my vision. Sparks of light appeared from nowhere, dancing and springing through the air. Then, the world went dark.

Montana:

It was a glorius sight, one of the seven wonders of the known universe, a Flossian in the midst of a regeneration. A giant flame erupted from his back and extended out until it encompased about 3 feet around his body. Sparks erupted like fire crackers, flying dozens of feet away from his body.

((sorry for away from web, work's been a pain. Oh and having the One is great IMO because you have the One vs the Man. ))

I felt the voice of the One, echoing down the caves to its recipient.

REMEMBER. WE WILL MEET HERE AGAIN, AFTER. IF YOU LIVE, WE WILL MEET HERE AGAIN. REMEMBER.
REMEMBER.

"One" I thought. "Why do you seek to intrude? What do you benefit from this? But never mind.........I have found those who will lead to your destruction. And my ascension."

I saw the alien lifeform erupt into sparks. Impressive, much like a mythical Phoenix. They needed to be informed about this new threat. However, battle is beautiful. I will wait for them to finish.

(I'm sorry, but I must leave for a week, beginning tomorrow. Feel free to continue the action, if you can do so without God-modding me. If you choose to leave the caves, just act as though I went back home. If you stay inside the caves, act as though I'm still there. Thanks. I'll miss you guys! Bye 'til Saturday-ish!)
The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. The only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.

(All right. See you when you get back, then. As for me... I've been having some technical difficulties. Actually, my computer just needs a defrag. But, my Dad is considering taking it out to get the hard drive cloned. If he does, I won't be on for a few days. Well, maybe. I'm not sure. Anyway, see you when you get back Este, and if I suddenly go missing, the rest of you know why. So, let's get this going again. I'll try my best to do so without god-modding. Sorry for the long post if you aren't in the mood to read a lot, btw. I seriously need to write.)

I felt myself regain consciousness, but did not open my eyes. My entire body ached and throbbed. "Whadda crazy dream," I mumbled, and opened my eyes. Blinded by an overhead light, I immediately closed them. Where was I? As far as I remembered, the cave didn't have lights. Then a thought occurred to me. Maybe I hadn't been dreaming.

I opened my eyes again and began to observe my surroundings. I was lying flat on my back on a hard, smooth surface. Straps held every joint of my body in place. The room I was in was small with bare concrete walls and a wooden door at the front.

Oh, god, you've been captured. Panic started to build inside of me. I tried to turn my head to the side, but the strap was too strong, too tight. I could barely breathe. So I began to morph polar bear.

The morph was surprisingly difficult, and took longer than I expected it to. I spent three minutes concentrating on the polar bear, only to find that a thin layer of white fur had sprouted from my skin. Over time, my coat grew thicker. Then, my hands and feet transformed into paws. I heard a series of sickening cracks and snaps as my bones shifted and changed within my body. My face bulged outward. My sense of smell improved. And, finally, when all of the other changes had taken place, I began to grow. The straps became uncomfortably tight. Tighter and tighter, until it was so much that I thought I would burst before the straps broke. When the pain seemed too much, one of them finally snapped. Then, another, and another after that, until I was completely free. The entire morph had taken fifteen minutes.

I pushed myself off of the hard table and onto the carpeted floor. Beside one leg of the table was a bucket filled with gray-green liquid. Something moved under the surface. I didn't need to look closer to guess what it was. I mentally shuddered, imagining what could have happened if I hadn't awoken and morphed in time.

Angrily, I bent low and reached my face into the bucket, taking the squirming slug in my mouth and crushing it with my teeth. Now that that’s taken care of, you need to find out where you are.

I was about to walk to the door, when something lying up against the back wall caught my attention. It was a small, metal box. Nothing of importance to me. But, as usual, my curiosity got the better of me. I walked over to the box and lifted the lid with my nose. Inside were several gun-like weapons—dracon beams.

I immediately thought of the battle. Fear pulled at my heart. <Ais? Edward?> I called in thought-speak. <Are you all right? Can you hear me? Where are you?>

(So, obviously a lot has happened since the battle. Again, I'm trying to do this without god-modding anyone. I guess Leah was carried off by the Yeerks, I don't know. Some of you may have separated. Whatever makes the most sense to you guys.)

(wow... huge post... I can't write that much... I don't have much time.. but I must move the post onwards!)

I lay in a cage, completely unconscious and oblivious to the world. Fortunately, I had morphed back - or was forced to morph back - some time after the battle. I was in a heap at the bottom of the cage, and softly I growled as an exhale.

(Alrighty then! :P)

No reply. Silence. Deafening silence. My panic was growing. I began to pace the room, going over all possibilities. Most likely, they were too far away to hear me. They were probably fine. I had absolutely nothing to worry about. <Ais! Edward!> I called again, silently praying one of them would reply.

(never mind, I'm fine... but bed soon, anyhows)

I awoke with a jolt, literally. I was surrounded by a bunch of Controllers, with one Dracon Beam pointed at me to keep me docile. I stood, shakily, hearing Leah's question, but unable to answer. I looked through a window, and saw a Polar Bear pacing around, and I realized that it was (most likely) one way glass.

Still no reply. I decided it was time to leave the room and explore. Try to figure out where I was, what had happened, and how my friends and I could escape. If they were even there.

I demorphed. Polar bears can't open doors or carry dracon beams, and I couldn't just let them go to waste. The morph took just as long as before, if not longer. Apparently, whatever poison they had used that had caused me to demorph in battle hadn't worn off.

Finally human, I reached into the box of dracon beams, grabbed one--and nearly stumbled over as a wave of diziness swept over me. I pressed my hand against the wall for support until I regained my balance.

Dracon beam in hand, I walked to the door and turned the brass knob... And gasped in shock. Edward was trapped in a cage less than ten feet away. Guards, both human and Hork-Bajir, surrounded him, dracon beams aimed. This didn't make any sense. "I--what happened? What's going on?" I demanded. "This is a trap, isn't it?!"

"Trap? How on EARTH could this be a trap?" I asked, ignoring the glares. One of the guards cursed, and kicked the cage. "Leah, don't drop the Dracon Beam." I continued, regardless of the guards around me. "Get outta here."

"What about you? And Ais? I can't just leave you here!" I exclaimed. "And do you honestly think these guys are just going to let me walk out of here? Alive, unharmed, or uninfested?" I looked to the Controllers. Their expressions were fierce and angry, but they made no attempt to attack me whatsoever. I began to back away toward the nearest door, near the back of this small room. No one moved. Amazing. They were actually letting me escape. But--I couldn't leave Edward. I raised my weapon, and the nearest Controller did the same. The message he was trying to get across was clear enough; if I tried to shoot, he would shoot. I fearfully grabbed the handle of the door, pulled down, and opened. This time, I found myself standing before the place that had haunted me in my sleep for weeks--the Yeerk pool.

(not sure where to go from here....)

I looked at Leah with desperation. "Go... tell Ais to find a new spot... They won't touch you... I kind of made a deal..."

I stepped forward, surprised. "A deal?! What kind of deal?" I asked, though I wasn't sure I was ready to hear the answer.

"Uh... Me." I said. "I kind of volunteered. Instead of taking both of us, I said I'd be a voluntary. I don't know where Ais is, I presumed she escaped."

I understood. But I didn't like it. Not at all. I sighed, stamped my foot, turned away, and left immediately, still too shocked to speak. He had sacrificed himself for us? I didn't know how to feel. Either way, I was angry.

I headed into the Yeerk pool, and instantly felt sick. In the center of the vast cavern was a large, round tub filled with gray liquid--the pool, obviously. At both ends were metal piers. On one end, people were dragged to the edge and had their heads forced under the liquid. Some of them screamed. Some did nothing. At the other pier, people calmly reached the end, knelt down, and remained still while slugs slithered from their ears. The ones that made a fuss were dragge away by Hork-Bajir and thrown in cages near the edge of the pool. There, they screamed and shouted, begged for help. Some of them cried, some of them stared into space.

I shuddered and stared ahead, unable to move, as a young woman rose from the end of the left pier after infestation, calm, and under control. All traces of fury and hate had vanished from her face. She calmly walked to the back of the complex, where several people stood in a line. A Hork-Bajir was running a scanner of some sort over their heads. Most likely to ensure they were really Controllers. After being scanned, they entered a long hallway that probably led further into the complex. And I got an idea. One that I didn't like at all. But it would save Edward.

I calmly walked to the edge of the Yeerk pool, trying not to look suspicious as I dipped my hand in the water. Something brushed my fingertips. I grabbed hold of the Yeerk and began to concentrate. In order to save my friend, I would have to play the part of an enemy. I just hoped this would work.
