Andaline?
« on: June 22, 2015, 07:10:46 AM »
I was browsing Seerowpedia this morning when I came across the following.

but it is also possible that the Yeerks evolved from Yoorts that became stranded on the Yeerk homeworld (which luckily had a Kandrona Sun). It is impossible to tell given the great distance between the races (the Iskoort's planet being so far away that the yeerks would need to enslave both Earth and Andeline before coming anywhere near it.

Is this the actual name of the Andalite home world? Or did an enterprising fan just make this up? I don't remember seeing it anywhere in the books. Nearly all planets in the series were just named "insert dominant species home world" weren't they?

(Always wondered who came up with the name Seerowpedia as well. Although I suppose its to late to change it now. XD)

Yes.

Everytime Ax refer's to it, it's Andalite home world. In fact, the only alien planet I can think of that's not is Leera, maybe Anati, but I don't know if they were after a specific planet or a "system" with that
Something, something, oh crap I pissed everyone off again....

I've heard a few different fans refer to the Andalite homeworld as "Andal," over the years.  But I think that's just an agreed-upon convention for mutual convenience, as it is never mentioned in-canon.  And I've never even heard "Andaline" before.

Yeah, as far as we ever know, it's just "the Andalite homeworld."

Someone with little to no knowledge about the series. Seerow was, after all, only a minor side character.
I've also heard that wiki being criticized on this forum, maybe people with more information and love towards the series
would make better wiki.
Yet seeing your post made me think, "omg, I've never thought of that, you are an evil genius".

You can aways edit the wiki. I've been doing a bit of editing on there, and I actually fixed quite a bit. We need to make this wiki more accurate.
What page was that mistake on? I'll fix it...

Thanks guys! Should've just gone with my gut on this one instead I ended up looking like a newbie to the series XD

I tried to edit/fix it but my tablets being stubborn. It's on the main Yeerk page, in the history (2nd) paragraph.

http://animorphs.wikia.com/wiki/Yeerk

And yeah this wiki needs some editing in places. Fanon wikis always seem to suffer from things like this the most. :P

Way back in the day (late 90s) Katherine actually addressed the Andalite homeworld name in one of the official site Q&As, not directly the "Andaline" word, but she said something to the effect of she didn't bother coming up with a name for it, as whatever their word for it was would just be some equivalent of "Earth."  Like we don't call our planet "Humasia" or "Homo Sapiter" or whatever.  They'd just have some equivalent of earth/home/ground or other simile.

Person Of Interest re-watch.  Still stunning as ever.

Wow. That's actually a really good point. Thanks. Learn something new every day.
