I really don't think you should call KA an idiot around here. She doesn't alays do her research, and she obviously didn't have a lot of the series planned out before she started, but I believe she is a good writer when she's motivated.

applegate, for those of you that have not noticed yet, is, in fact, an idiot. I do not base this on tiny little insignificant science errors. you should be warned as soon as possible. if you are collecting the series, stop. now. just stop. its to late for me. but you can all save yourselves. do. not. finish. the. series.

However, you are correct. there is no star within a billion miles of our sun. applegate, for those of you that have not noticed yet, is, in fact, an idiot. I do not base this on tiny little insignificant science errors. you should be warned as soon as possible. if you are collecting the series, stop. now. just stop. its to late for me. but you can all save yourselves. do. not. finish. the. series.
Haha. You do understand that you're posting this on an Animorphs forum, don't you? Many of the people here finished the series more than a decade ago, and yet, we're still here, celebrating it, in spite of its inconsistencies :P

Also: disagreeing with the decisions of the author of our favorite series is no reason to call her an idiot. Heck, disagreeing with anybody shouldn't be cause for namecalling. All that can do is get people upset with you :P

Thanks for pointing out my math inconsistencies! Most definitely not my strong suit! Jdorsey I may not know math but I do know people and I imagine these are the LAST people you want to say that to so please try to refrain from making comments against the author here;). Yah I guess we can just chalk it up to a kid being a kid. @duck, duck, goose as a lover of the gone and Animorph books let me just say:

WOW! What an astute observation and odd connection but according to birds.com seagulls do indeed have talons but they are tiny and webbed...???

Nah not for no reason you had a well reasoned and good idea and you pursued it! That is the sign not just of a reader but an evaluator someone who isn't taking anything at face value ;)

Thanks!

On a similar note in #26 it says the Iskoort planet is 500 million light years from earth and implies it's in this galaxy when 500 million light years would be well outside this supercluster.

Seagulls have talons? Who knew!

According to Ax in Book 5 (Thanks Steph, I wasn't sure on the exact book so you saved me a lot of time and effort), The Andalite Home World is about 82 Light Years from Earth.

Clearly Ax knows the actual distance. So maybe he was just doing what I do whenever I talk about long distances. Everything is always a zillion miles away for me. Maybe he was just throwing a big number out there. Saying you're a billion miles from home does sound more impressive than saying you're eighty-two light years from home. Whether it actually is farther mathematically or not. Unfortunately that doesn't really solve the Iskroot thingy. Pry just another KASU

And Aluminator is right Jdorsey.  Name calling is uncalled for and you're preaching to the choir anyways.

I'm re-reading the series (3rd time) and I couldn't help but stop when I read this odd line from Ax:

"But still, I was about a billion miles from my home world"

Using the power of google I learned that Pluto is aprox. 3.6 billion miles away!!
And the giant Saturn is only 1.2 billion miles away!
The strangest part of all of this is the sun is about 1 billion miles away too! So according to Ax we are as close to the Sun as we are to the Andalite home world!

Just a small error i noticed but annoyed me none the less ;)

I thought that Earth only averaged 93 million miles away from its Sun!

I'm sure he meant to say lightyears.  ;D

If the Andalite political unit is 1 billion light years from Earth, then so are the Yeerks, so why are the Yeerks invading Earth?

Taxxons?  The obsessive over-eaters?  Um, it doesn't get much more American than that.  :P

Obviously, Andalites are from Canada.  They are Canadese.

. . . In seriousness, though, I'd probably put them somewhere between Japan (they have a similar concept of honor, I think), and America (the arrogance and self-righteousness).

Ax is an American. He doesn't need no un-American measurement system.
*sigh*

Which Terran nation are the Yeerks?

A need for hosts, the fact that we don't have interstellar travel, and our reproduction rate is really high.

But shouldn't the Yeerks be able to find plenty of host species closer than 1 billion light years away from their home planet?
