I would advise not morphing into Dinosaurs within your first five posts... (or ever, actually) ... and.. maybe you should stay away from super-powerful concussion weapons.... and invisibility suits.. and... yeah, let's just say I speak from experience here. My first characters didn't go too well.

Mostly just follow my extrapolated Rule: Power is limited to what a human-Controller with a Dracon beam could reasonably dispatch except in emergency situations. Everything else is character development happeh!

This doesn't necessarily mean that one cannot have great power: they just must also be limited in the extent that it goes and must give it Fun with Drawbacks. So that the aforementioned guy with a Dracon beam can manage a shot. This is the non plot-related reason for Mar's mortality and limitations and Keshin's mutation kicking his ass every time he uses it, period.

I'm not sure what character to be. Small furry aliens lend themselves beautifully to awkward situations; which I love but I may go with a human controller. Someone without much background for once not a nothlit or a seer. Even a normal human. Not yeerk maybe.

A word of advice, Goku. Don't ever plan for things to happen that far in advance. If the bar will teach you anything, it's that all of your plans will be stomped on before they have a chance to come to fruition. Know why? Because each character is an individual who will not react how you want them to, but rather by the way their own personalities dictate.

Don't create the story, just be a part of it. There's a reason we don't have a GM in this rp, don't try to be one. You can't make things happen just because you think they'd be cool.

I know there have been instance where something just didn't happen the way I wanted it to happen. There wasn't anything I could do, though, so I just went with the flow.

Other than maybe Ossanlin, I don't think there's a single person in the whole Bar with conventional morals. Myitt's morals are unconventional for her race, and she's also a rebel. Not above making people go splodey. Terenia's morals seem to depend on whatever works for her at the time, though they follow a system. XD Keshin and Joanne are nearly amoral, doing whatever benefits them when they're in the Bar. Mar is utterly arrogant and self-centered, assisting those he calls friend (in any conceivable way, not all of them good) and saying "Screw you" to pretty much everyone else. Temrash is a former Yeerk Visser with strong principles but odd morality, and Efaen is....Efaen. XDD

That blend of varied moralities seems to go a long way in making the bar as enduring as it is ^_^ Different characters with different beliefs and paradigms about the world certainly make the interactions at the GESB more interesting than they tend to be in lots of other places.

I'm thinking of bringing in a new character too. He's from my universe. He has no special abilities. In fact, any Gedd with a shredder could take him out – provided they have good aim.

He's part of the Clangst species, one of my earliest creations. The reason he doesn't look like the scribbly drawing of a 5 year old is because I just revamped him.


The one I bring in will be Ambassador Urtahn or Ambassador Arkantau, I can't decide between the names. Anyone have a preference?

Yeah, certain characters seem to be keeping things from moving, but that happens. Sometimes it goes so slow there doesn't seem to be anything to do, and sometimes it picks up so fast that the slower posters just stop posting. Claxter's waiting for the right time to act, Derrel's options of things to do are limited, and no one is interacting with Jagill unless I missed something.
