What if a Yeerk Infested a Host All Ready in Morph?
« on: February 03, 2011, 01:09:31 AM »
I over think things so tonight I had a conversation that went some thing like this...

Quote
Rad:Wait, the Yeerk infested a morpher in moose morph. When that she [the morpher] demorphs... He would be in there controlling.
Bear: yep
Rad: But would he be incoprated into her human body?

And a few minuets latter...
Quote
Rad: I just thought of how fun it would be to write the demorph that my infested morpher is about to do from the Yeerk prospective.  The brain around him will be changing from moose to human and He has to maintain control.
Bear: *brain itch* but what about when he/she morphs something small that couldn't hold a yeerk?
Rad: That's my point! When morphing the yeerk is incorporated in to the morph. But I don't know about demorphing. If she demorphs on her own while he plays "don't get caught in the moving brain" he might be able to disengage normally.
Bear: why do you have to make all of this so difficult?!?!?
Rad: Because I'm DSL and you're dial-up.

I would like your thoughts on this.  What would happen to these two?

This actually happened in the Hork-Bajir Chronicles, when Aldrea is nearly infested by Esplin while she is in Hork-Bajir morph.

Because the Yeerk is its own sentient entity, I doubt it would morph itself to be permanently stuck in the demorphed form.

More than likely a Yeerk would simple feel the shifting of the host brain as it demorphed, and would remain in control of the body.  This would only apply when a Yeerk had infested a morphed host, and I'm sure if the host's natural body were, say, a fly (just as an example--a sentient, intelligent fly, okay? XD) then the Yeerk would explode out of the tiny body.

On the other hand, if a Yeerk makes its host's natural body morph, the Yeerk's mass will be extruded into z-space along with the rest of the morphed mass.

At least, that's as best as I can guess ::)

Well, Ax incorporated clothes into his human morph, right?  So it's possible that a Yeerk could be similarly incorporated into a morph.  However, I think they would remain in control of the body, because the z-space-to-body link seems to be strong enough to allow a disconnected mind to control a body (which is what has to happen every time the Animorphs morph insects; no way does an insect have a large enough brain to hold all the information that has to be held inside the human mind).

Sounds like a similar question i asked a long time ago.
Maybe reading it would help a bit?

Yeah me and a friend were discussing this the other day... came to the same Z-Space conclusion.

As for infesting a morphed body I think it makes sense that the Yeerk would stay and feel the brain change beneath them. But interestingly it should be possible for them to be absorbed as DinosaurNothlit pointed out. Although I don't know whether they'd stay in control... in fact this brings up an interesting point:

The Animorph's morphing is based on DNA so when they change their morphing outfits go to Z-Space with their excess mass - when they demorph the animal DNA simply returns to their blood, rather than a copy of the animal going to Z-Space. So, there's no logical reason that Ax is able to incorporate clothes into a morph because it means they've become part of the DNA structure of his human morph. The same reason that if a morphed person demorphed after being infested, the Yeerk should become part of that animal's DNA, not a floating slug in Z-Sace.

Does that make any sense?

how can a yeerk morph a host body and not kill  the host? i mean in #6 when Jake was a controller, the yeerk morphed a flea.but a flea is waaaaaaaay smaller than i yeerk, when the host morphs, the yeerk can't morph alone so it can't shrink, right?

Thoughts?

I thought the same. In #15 Ax says shark brains are too small for yeerks to fit in, but a flea is way too small.

Guys, this has been discussed before.  The Yeerk's mass would be extruded into z-space along with the rest of the host's mass, where the Yeerk could continue controlling the body no matter how small the morph is.

This discusses another topic, but the question is still answered in there.

merging, also try and keep your topic names (just wondering) distinguishable from other 'question' topics (quick question, question, what if etc.). people are more likely to enter the thread then. thanks.

Now lets have Tobias the hawk morph his human morph.  Then have a Yeerk infest Tobias while he is in his human morph.  When Tobias' body demorphs, what would happen to the Yeerk (who would be too big to fit in a hawk brain).
