Animorphs Back on TV
« on: May 18, 2013, 10:10:07 PM »
So, it seems that the Animorphs television show that aired on Nickelodeon in the 90s is now in syndication on a channel called Qubo.

http://www.qubo.com/schedule

It's scheduled for Saturdays at 9:00 pm. If anything, this means new high quality video that isn't ripped from ages old VHS copies.

I never thought I'd see this happen. It is on a channel of old 90s shows so it isn't that surprising, but I am really happy to see this.

Having re-watched the first episode last night...

Fair enough, but it doesn't do the books much justice :P

It looks like Animorphs is just about the only show on there worth watching...but I still wish I got that channel.

From what I've seen of the show, it's an instructional guide on how wield an intellectual property to maximum rage. Seen for nostalgia and punishment.

Ani-TV--or what I like to call, Degrassi with the occasional shape shifting and aliens. :)

I like the argument Pop made in his last video for the episode guide: yea, it was a series with a lot of flaws, but I, too, do not regret watching the few episodes I've seen. It was a nice little experiment, and could be used as a map for how NOT to approach the series should one (idealistic hope here) ever get made.

Man, I wish I had known about this before they started airing. I would love to have the entire series on my DVR. Guess I'll have to settle for everything except the first 2. (assuming they keep it on long enough to air the full series)
two episodes a week is brutal though, why not make it a weeknight thing? It'll take a while to circle back at this rate. If they do that is.

Edit: Okay, watching now. The picture quality looks awesome. The colors really pop now.

They shortened the intro though to my disappointment. I mean come on, that was the best part. I would have rather they cut something from the rest of the episode than mess with the intro. Do they do this with all the eps? Probably.   I just want them to air the full theme, even if just once. Because there's no way we're getting dvds this is the only shot we have at seeing and hearing the intro in high quality.

I noticed at the start of the shortened intro that there's a growl that I don't remember hearing there before. Makes me wonder if a longer version of the theme exists.

Why did they shorten the opening? That was the best part of the show.

Usually that's one of the things they do when they have to show more commercials than the original station did.

Actually, you know what? That was the intro I remember from when I used to watch it on TV. I actually remember getting confused when I heard the long intro for the first time, and thought I was just going crazy and remembering it wrong, lol.

So, I'm actually kinda glad that I didn't just imagine the shorter intro?

Aparently this is what they aired on YTV. Here in the states I'm pretty sure we got the full theme every time. Until the Jake narrated version that is.

I tweeted Qubo asking if they could air the full theme at some point. No answer of course. heh

Yup, that's definitely the Canadian version. I remember seeing the same thing on YTV.
