Okay, just wanted to give a quick update of the officer positions and those who currently fill them. Most if not all of the vacant slots have characters planned for them...but I'll not spoil the surprises, if surprises they are.
Prince Prime (Captain): Ossanlin
Prince Elite (First Officer): Keshin - Joanne
Combat Elite (Tactical Officer): Aetheas
Engineer Elite (First Engineer): Firin - Rythil
Helm Elite (First Pilot): Claxter
Security Elite (Head of Security and Communications): Ferxal
Surveyor Elite (Sensors Officer): Varit - *Taxxon*
Physician Elite (First Medical Officer): Varekil
Squad Elite (First Active-Security Officer): Vacant
Flight Elite: Vacant (Not Available for current RP)
I'll list some descriptions of the responsibilities of each Offcer as well, for those that are curious.
Captain: Bridge Station (upper)
Self-explanatory....commands and directs officers and ship activities.
First Officer: Bridge Station (upper)
Sometimes referred to as "Second Prince," the First Officer serves as the second in command, assisting the Captain in the basic running and administration of the ship. He/she offers advice and assists in the decision-making process. He/she will also assume command of the ship when the Captain is absent or indisposed.
Tactical Officer: Bridge Station (lower)
Sometimes referred to as "Battle Prince," the Tactical Officer is first and foremost, a battle tactician. The TO is responsible for the coordination of sensor information, defensive systems, and offensive systems during True-Space combat. The TO runs the ship's weapons systems and coordinates actions and feedback from the Sensors Officer, Helm, and Communications Officer during combat. The TO is also responsible for plotting and managing Z-Space jumps and Z-Space navigation as well as the development of True-Space navigation routes. The TO will assume command of the vessel if both the Captain and First Officer are absent or otherwise unable to command.
First Helm: Bridge Station (lower)
Self-explanatory...the Helm pilots the ship and is responsible for maneuvering during all ship activities including combat.
Communications Officer: Bridge Station (upper)
The Communications Officer monitors all incoming and outgoing communications as well as in-ship communications. The Communications Officer is also the Head of ship and crew security, and supplies information and direction to both on-ship and off-ship security squadrons, generally from the bridge. The Communications Officer also runs the ship's Energy Shield. The Communications Officer is fourth in the line of command attrition.
Sensors Officer: Bridge Station (lower)
The Sensors Officer monitors all sensor information coming into the ship. The Sensors Officer is responsible for scanning and charting planets, stars, astronomical anomalies, enemy ships, and anything else that can be probed by the ship's sensor arrays. The Sensors Officer also monitors the ship's internal environmental systems, energy consumption, and general homeostasis. The Sensors Officer is fifth in the line of command attrition.
First Active-Security Officer: Bridge Station (upper) {when not deployed}
The First Active-Security Officer takes direction and advice from the Communications Officer, but commands the security forces as he/she sees fit. He/she deploys in situations involving security both on and off-ship. He/she stands guard at the entrance to the bridge when not deployed in a security situation, and manages day to day ship and crew security matters.
First Engineer: Engineering Station
The First Engineer is stationed in the engineering section of the ship where he can manage the ship's energy systems. The primary station exists at A2 Collider Alpha, but he/she can range all over engineering and the ship as a whole, helping with repairs and upkeep. He/she manages the entire engineering staff, and prioritizes testing and upkeep of the ship's systems as he sees fit.
First Medical Officer: Med-bay Station
The First Medical Officer is stationed in the med-bay of the ship. He/she is responsible for crew health and fitness. He/she can range all over the ship in cases of medical emergency, and is responsible for directing the medical staff. He/she is also responsible for ensuring that all crew-members come in for regular check-ups.
Flight Commander: Docking Hangar Station
Sometimes referred to as "Fighter Prince," the Flight Commander is stationed in the Docking Hangar, and is responsible for directing the fighter pilots. In combat, he/she deploys in a fighter and coordinates the actions of the fighter squadrons. During non-combat, the Flight Commander is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the maintenance and upkeep of the fighter-class vessels and the Docking Hangar. He/she coordinates exercises, test-flights, and repair, as well as the maintenance and coordination of the Hangar Bay's flight-deck.
I'm also thinking about adding another class of rank that's non-canon...but it seems like there should be at least one or two more ranks of Officer. I'm toying with the titles of Prince Lieutenant, Prince Commander, and Command Warrior...
The chain of command would be War Prince, Prince Commander, Prince Lieutenant, Command Warrior, Warrior, aristh, cadet. What are you guys'/gals' thoughts on the matter?
