Do you think the Yeerks and Humans ever agree?
« on: February 02, 2012, 04:24:37 PM »
I mean, come on, there's got to be a moment where the Yeerk and unvoluntary host agree with eachother, maybe without realizing it.
Aka, you know how maybe when you were in school or work, and something random, funny or weird will happen and you'll just turn around to the nearest person and go, "O...kay, that was strange..." whether or not you know them?
For example in the books: In The Reaction, when Rachel accidently changes her feet into bear's paws and she tells Chapman their actually fancy shoes?
There's an awkward pause until "Chapman" (aka Yeerk) says, "The things you kids wear..." you wonder if afterwards the Yeerk was like, "Well, that was just plain weird." and perhaps Chapman could have said, "Yeah, you'll find that with human kids." or something...
Do you think that would ever happen in the Animorphs universe?

Lol yeah. I'm sure Yeerks and theirs hosts have exchanged the occasional "WTF" face or laughed at the same joke but I'm pretty sure the hosts are two busy being trapped in their own brains to do much agreeing with the Yeerk. Unless they're voluntary hosts.

Yes I'm sure it happens. Mr. Tidwell is a good example of it. I believe he was an involuntarily host at first but he and his Yeerk became buds after a while.

Especially the lower class Yeeks I think, those who have little to no chance of getting a promotion. I think they'd try to make the best of it with their hosts because they will be stuck with each other for a long long time.

I'm sure they're bound to agree on something sometimes, considering they're stuck together 24/7.  Whether or not they'd ever admit it depends on the particular parasite/host relationship.

Agreed. And maybe they start having a similar personality as the human after a while, making them agree even more

I believe it's stated somewhere that Yeerks sometimes take on a similar personality to their hosts, so even if there's a master slave relationship going on, they're bound to hit some common ground at times. This doesn't mean they'll ever become friends, but there are bound to be moments like that.

Allison Kim and Edriss came to a point where they discussed a number of things
"We spoke a great deal. About physics. History. About biology. She was fascinated by Yeerk biology. I was fascinated by human history. All her memories were mine to command, to open or close as I chose. It wasn’t necessary for me to converse with her. But I found it pleasant. Yes, it was pleasant."
Plus the somewhat love affair they all shared

You spend that much time with someone, you almost have to agree with some things about them
Something, something, oh crap I pissed everyone off again....

*Ahem*

That would be involuntary. Once more and it's the yardstick for you. *Glances about the forum warily in case anyone wants to test him.*

As to your question yes. All but the most sadistic Yeerks would find some kind of compromise between complete domination and giving their host some kind of comfort. One thing I liked about AniTV's "The Predator" was how Edriss kept that little garden on her ship, explaining to Visser Three that it helped to keep the host calm.

Oh, that's pretty cool. It'd be awesome if the also did that in the books.

I wonder if Chapman told his daughter Melissa about Rachel's bear paw shoes.
