"Who's she?" Michael asked Aurora about the girl who just came in. She was quite a bit older than himself. "She doesn't seem like a full member. Maybe she's new." The thought was, of course possible, but it still seemed weird to Michael that an adult would be a new member, and even weirder if younger kids were full members...

Corliss smiled coldly at Tia.  "You don't know if you can trust me," he said.  "But I reckon you have no choice at the moment."  He stopped short, gazing annoyedly at the new girl.  "Um.  It's back there," he said, pointing back at the main hall.  The little group moved outside the building easily, unaware that anyone was following them...yet...

"But I think the introductory meeting is already over" Michael called to the girl. "Doesn't hurt to check though."

Aurora shrugged and answered in a low voice that hopefully no one but Michael could hear, "I don't know, but she sure brings a new meaning to 'fashionably late', doesn't she?"

"Yeah, although I didn't know what the old meaning was so...", Michael replied. It was meant as a joke, but he was also telling the truth.

Kaitlyn quickly followed the group. They turned suddenly, and left the room from a small side door. She bit her lip, ucrsed silently, and turned back, deciding on taking a better, safer route through the main doors. When she made it outside, she headed around to the back of the building and crouched in the shadows less than thirty feet from where the four stood, listening intently. Perfect. They couldn't see her, but she could see them.

<You know, I think you're just being paranoid,> Kaitlyn thought.

<I'm not paranoid. It's quite obvious that they're trying to keep these newcomers away.>

<Maybe they're as crazy you and they're taking them to be infested.>

<Quiet. I don't have time for this. I need to concentrate.>

"Right, you lot," said Corliss quietly, nodding at Michael and Aurora.  They had paused outside The Sharing building, looking around to make sure no one was in earshot, just before Kaitlyn started eavesdropping.  Now they were walking along again, down the dark city street.  The weather was warm, even for summer, but there was a pleasant breeze.  "We need to talk.  I'm sorry to have to drag the two of you into this, but really there's no other choice.  If you want to leave, this is your last chance, and if you do--don't ever go back to The Sharing.  It's not safe.  Your world isn't safe anymore."  He paused, waiting, then continued, speaking even more softly.  "What I'm about to show you means you will have to leave everything and everyone you know behind.  If not forever, then for the foreseeable future.  I know it sounds mad, but there's a war going on, right here on your planet.  A war to enslave your world.  And I'm asking you if you want to be a part of it, on the side that's defending your people.  Every human on this planet is in danger, and some of the creatures at fault want to try to save you instead of destroying you."  He searched their faces.  "Yes, it's some bloody X-Files ridiculousness.  But it's also very dangerously real.  You have to believe what I'm telling you.  Or," he shrugged.  "Forget it and never show your faces at that damn place again."

Aurora laughs lightly, "This is bogus," She says, sounding uncertain. She glances around nervously, but makes no move to leave. Crazy or not, she's intrigued, and she'll see it through.

Denise just stood there, staring at Mike and Tia who looked to be squaring off for something. "Uh...okaaay" she said slowly as Mike told her it was back the other way. It was obvious that he was trying to brush her off, which succeeded only in annoying her.

"Look, I hate to be this ginormous so-called burden...but I'd kinda like a little more detailed instructions if it's not too much to ask" Denise replied somewhat irritably, trying to keep the better part of it in check.

She turned to face the kid who suggested to check. "Thank you" Denise called as the little group headed away from her. Obviously, whatever they were doing at the moment was more important than helping her out. Fine. Whatever. She would find the d*mned thing herself...and if not, then to hell with this club. Because they sure didn't seem very accepting as they claimed to be. More like some hypocritical school clique, especially given the way that those two supposed guides or whatever were looking like they were about to kill each other.

With another defeated sigh, Denise stormed off in the direction she came, hoping to find someone or anyone who could help her find her way. She was almost to the door that led back into the main building, when suddenly she spotted a girl that looked to be in her mid-teens, stealthily ducking into the shadows out of sight. It appeared as if she were spying on the little group.

Normally, Denise would have just dismissed it as another display of pathetic pettiness, but something about this whole thing told her that something much bigger was going on here than some little 'clique fight'. It was bad enough that stuff like this was going on at a friendly community oriented club, but if they were dragging innocent kids into potentially dangerous situations...well, Denise wouldn't let them get away with it.

Finding a suitable hiding place behind a nearby dumpster, Denise crouched down behind it, and was able to get a pretty good view of the girl. Two can play at this game thought the young Polynesian/Italian as she kept her gaze trained on Kaitlyn.

As an added precaution, Denise pulled up the hood on her slightly over sized sweatshirt, which covered most of her very long black hair and light green eyes. She knew that it wouldn't be enough to keep the little group she ran into from recognizing her, but it would shield her identity somewhat from other people including the girl who was following them.
She could just remove her sweatshirt and hide it, since she was wearing a tank top underneath it.

"Leave everything and everyone we know behind?" Michael repeated, "What are we leaving this place or something?" He also wanted to ask what X-files was but he felt now wasn't the time.

Corliss nodded at Michael.  "Yes.  You might be able to go on living your lives normally, but if the...if the aliens, the creatures who are invading this planet, capture you knowing what you know about this resistance...it would mean the end of what so many have fought and died for."  His fists clenched unconsciously at his sides.  "Some of us can still walk that line between our people and pass as normal.  That's why I'm here right now, and it's probably why she's here, too."  He nodded at Tia/Norpo.  "And Will, back there, if he hasn't turned on us...others are forced into exile because of the very nature of what we do.  We call it civil disobedience, the Empire calls it terrorism."

As he spoke he glanced back in the direction of The Sharing building, always quietly paranoid.  "Who is that?" he said, squinting toward a nearby dumpster.  Someone in a sweatshirt was crouched there, just barely visible.  Hiding themselves, and close enough to listen in.  He cursed, his hand edging toward the Dracon inside his jacket.  "Alright, mate, show yourself and you won't get hurt.  Slowly."
