Dalik's gaze falls on Myitt. "I've noticed," she says, choosing not to respond to being called a tapeworm. "She's a rebel. I don't know much about her, beyond the hefty price on her head, but I know plenty about her type. They're reckless. Her forming an alliance with an Andalite doesn't mean I should trust one."

Her eyes shift to Ossanlin. "Though, I must admit, it is...quite interesting, being so close to one. I've never actually seen an Andalite before. Only holos." Shaking herself, she smiles at Jeffrey. "Do you make a habit of killing people's dates?"

Myitt nods, rolling the sleeves of her black jacket back down.

"Yeah," she says. "Serid. Um. Serin? ****. It's been so long, I blocked his name. I remember what he did to you, and I remember what he did to us. We did have to move our base, you know." She leans an elbow on the counter. "That kind of thing is hard to forget. So somewhere after that, and before or during Rogue Element, our timelines got all muddied up." She pauses, considering.

"Or, my memories got ****ed with. That's not out of the question, unfortunately," she adds blandly.

She can't help glancing over at Dalik and Jeffrey. The Dalik the Prime she knew was supposed to be long dead.

<<Hm,>> she comments to her host. <<Stranger things have happened.>>

Jeffrey barks out a laugh. "Hah, no, not deliberately--- I'm an equal-opportunity killer," he says with an impish grin. "I might be killing somebody's date on certain occasions, but most of the time it's pretty unknowing! I value young love and romantic initiative! The long walks in the night, the dances underneath the stars......but this was..."

Jeffrey scowls. "...it was kind of a special case, okay? Prospero--- Derek's his real name---was dating a goddamn cape. A Hero. Where I'm from, he's not supposed to do that. It causes too many complications."

"Can't blame him for losing his **** after that," Merc says, not looking at anyone else in particular. "But really, I got no room to judge. Probably ruined quite a few peoples' lives myself."

Merc closes his eyes for a second to collect his thoughts. "Alright, I'll level with you guys here. I'm not exactly a good guy myself. Pretty much the opposite, actually. I'm a part-time hitman, part-time con man. That guy that shot Dani? Yeah, I kinda lied. That wasn't over some petty bull****. I scammed that guy out of every cent he had." His hand tightens around the edge of the bar. "But I do what I do to survive, and I assume it's the same for you, Jeffrey. This mother****er had no right."

Jeffrey shakes his head. "Look, man, where I'm from, everybody does what they gotta do to survive, okay? I blame Prospero for lying to me and, ultimately, betraying me--- Not so much for everything he did afterward. After all, when some crazy person kills your loved one, even if he was your best friend, you've gotta find a...new direction in life." Jeffrey chuckles a bit.

"And yeah, if the guy had a grudge against you, he still should've killed you," says Jeffrey, shrugging. "Not your wife. It's not fair to bring the outsider into it when they don't have to do with it."

"It must be pretty rough if you think you have to kill people just to survive." Verdana said.

Dalik's eyes flit back and forth throughout the conversation. "Everyone does what they have to do to survive," she concludes quietly. "It's just messier for some people than others." Her narrow shoulders lift in a shrug.

Looking bored with the conversations, William ambles up to the bar. "I'll take another round for the the lot of them," he says to the bartender, his dashing smile having absolutely no effect. The bartender solemnly sets aside the glass he is drying and begins preparing the drink of choice for each of the patrons. With a small flourish, William tosses a small parcel of coins on the counter.

Myitt overhears William and glares, arching her neck so she can try and make eye contact along the line of the bar counter.

"Hey, buddy, don't order anything for me," she warns loudly. "I've got my own drink, and it's a whole bottle's worth, and I don't need yours." She makes an impatient Italian hand gesture, a 'whaddayou thinking' toss of her hands, before turning back to Ossanlin with a bitter grumble.

Ossanlin's eyes brighten with realization as he runs his fingers down Myitt's arms, along the scars underneath the fabric.  <Serin!...yes.  I didn't know he'd scarred you in that scuffle.  You saved me from his infestation once...back in the early days.  Then from death multiple times at many different points in our history.  I'm thankful for that, I always have been...and I always will be.>

He withdraws his hands as Myitt throws hers in the air before turning back to look at him again.  He's aware of the strange man's offer to buy a drink for everyone, though he doesn't remove his main eyes from Myitt.  <I suppose you never actually met Serid now that I think about it.  He was an andalite member of my crew, my FAS officer, and a diligent member of the Rogue Element.  So...the time-alteration was a part of the reason for my confusion, though not in the way I'd expected.>

Ossanlin pauses before speaking up quietly.  <Myitt...I'm sorry for my comments.  I'm also sorry for your loss.  I knew Daniel in the other timeline, though not that well.  He seemed like a good man, and Illim a good Yeerk.>

Jeffrey shoots a sardonic look at William. "Really? You're going to buy drinks for everyone in a Bar run by a guy who never talks and seems to be able to make anything, including any drink? I hope you're ready for the ****ing consequences of that, man." Jeffrey wasn't really sure why he was assuming there were consequences, but it itched at the back of his mind. This William guy had better have a lot of money.

"And Verdana...hey, that's...kind of how it is where I'm from," says Jeffrey, shrugging. "Probably where Dalik is from, too," he said, shooting Dalik a look, and then Merc. "I think a lot of people in this Bar have some pretty ****ed up backgrounds. And as for me...My powers work better when I do some damage--- Physically or mentally. That, and I'm a supervillain. I got good at it." Jeffrey shrugged.

"Anyway, you're a flipping monster," he says, looking at Verdana quizzically. "You don't have to kill to survive? Scientists or no, you pretty much pointed out to us that the humans don't like ya."

"Some do. A lot don't. But there's a different between defending yourself, and killing people. Many of use have such control over our magics that we always know when to stop before the killing blow is made. My uncle is one of the best at that, growing up with a brother as frail as my dad. One of the problems with Humans is they like to make weapons that are lethal by design."

"I think most of the time, humans don't really know how to make non-lethal weapons like that," says Jeffrey. "I mean sure there are tasers, stunners, blocking devices, and a couple of powers that don't really strictly speaking kill people, but other humans are usually going for the kill. In that situation, it's do or die."

"As for me specifically..." Jeffrey grinned. "...while I prefer my victims alive, I've had to do my fair share of killing, yes. Depends on your goal."

"I guess you can chalk it up to me just being a child. I'm sure my parents protect me from a lot of dark things in the world. I won't judge you. I just....don't really understand how you talk about killing so casually. It's unnerving."

"I guess you become used to killing after a while," Merc says with a somewhat bitter undertone to his voice. "What's the word? 'Desensitized?' Either way, when you're a professional supervillain, or in my case, a walking, talking flamethrower, it sort of comes with the territory." He glances over in Myitt's direction. Still talking about stuff he knew nothing about. Frankly, it was rather boring to him.

"If it makes you uncomfortable, though, we can change the subject."

"My little girl started killing when she was about twelve or so, so..." Jeffrey looks over Verdana. "...based on your approximate age, I'd say that's an appropriate time to begin, but it's hard to guess since you're not human."

"As for talking about it casually....eh," says Jeffrey, shrugging. "I live in a Dome overcrowded with at least a hundred million more people than there need to be in there. We can't go Outside, so people die every day. Call the Villains a form of...proactive population control. Now if I had my way nobody would be overpopulating the place, but I don't run my world kid--- The Guardian Council does. You could say I'm throwing around ideas about how to end up running the world."
