"You only live life once, controller.  Me, I don't like to screw around.  I make a lot of people uncomfortable.  Quite frankly, I don't give a damn."  He grins over at Simon, fangs showing.  "I would've been threatened a dozen times by now anywhere else.  The humans in this bar...the males anyway...seem remarkably open to my advances.  That isn't usually the case.  The women have been less receptive...this place is rather strange indeed."  He shrugs and smiles winningly at Dom.

"You may be right. This is turning into a gay bar. Not that I'd complain, of course. Are you into extreme sports, Rathien? Besides the Most Dangerous Game? That would seem right up your alley."

Rathien arches an eyebrow and runs an appraising eye over Simon.  A little older than he usually went for...but not unattractive for it.  "Well, I don't believe in limiting one's self.  I'd happily engage in activities with males or females, either one...or both at the same time."  He smirks.  "But most humans seem rather...reserved about the matter."

"Sports?"  He chuckles again.  "I've never played any sports."

Gene stalks over to Terenia and sits down across from her.

"Apparently I'm going to be introduced to a sentient hologram," he mutters, gazing miserably down at the scratched lacquer surface of the wooden booth table. He picks at the thin, peeling plastic. "And how's your day going?" He smiles half-heartedly, looking up to see where Dom is.

"Really? does it not seem real enough, or is there another reason? I believe sports are like a tamer form of hunting and war. You have contact sports like boxing and football, or sports like skiing where you're riding along mountain tops or across lakes. I find it exciting. It's a much more fun way to keep in top form than just walking on a treadmill or lifting a weight over and over."

"Perhaps I would play a sport if killing one's opponent was a method of victory."  He arches an eyebrow at Simon.  "Why limit one's self with rules and limitations?  The Dream doesn't have rules."

"Why should we be entertained by people killing each other? Why would you want to throw your life away when you can do so much before you die? I can understand wanting to go down fighting instead of laying on a deathbed until your body shuts down, but death of sentient life should not be a form of entertainment. If you want to live as the animals do, people will treat you as such."

Rathien chuckles richly.  "We are animals, controller.  Myself moreso than you, and I take pride in that."  He grins, baring his fangs again.  "Unless you're descended from androids perhaps?  And I don't care if spectators are entertained if that's what you mean.  The thrill of life and death cannot be matched.  The only thing that comes close is what I've been soliciting the rest of the time."

"Our kinds did indeed evolve from nonsentient lifeforms, but we try not to be so self serving. Your way of life is destructive. Even most of your people have noticed that. Personally I'd rather accomplish more than just a short, albeit exciting, life. I just don't see the point in seeking out life threatening situations unless they have a deeper goal than wanting to feel adrenaline running through my veins."

"Your life will be short, and soon forgotten and unmourned."

"Everyone wakes from the Dream at the pre-ordained time, controller.  Your actions in life cannot affect that.  You'll forgive me if I don't see the point of swaddling myself in infant blankets when I'll meet the same end either way."  He takes another large swig from his Miruvin tumbler.

"We all die, but what we leave behind can be vastly different. Jocun's a politician. he's doing his best to lay the groundwork for a better society and diplomatic state between Yeerks and other species. There are inventors that completely change the way we live. There are scholars and scientists that find knowledge that give us a greater understanding of the universe around us. You can accomplish so much more in your lifetime if you choose. It can still be fun and exciting, and cn even be life threatening, but the fact that it's life threatening shouldn't be the main reason you do something."

"You seem to believe in extremes. Like you think if you're not going out hunting or having sex, you'd be stuck in some boring office job shuffling papers around."

"A sentient hologram?" Terenia echoes. She glances around the bar. "Oh. Al. Yeah, if you like spending time with Dom, I'm sure he'll be right up your alley. Just stay away from his friend, Salem." She slouches irritably, staring at the scratched wood of the table. "I don't know why I come here."

Dom glances over at Gene, giving him a lazy, smirking salute before making his way up to the bar for a refill. He gives the strange reptilian newcomer a wide berth, gesturing the bartender over as he makes his order.

Rathien shrugs, chuckling a bit.  "If you feel that 'worth' is necessary in the Dream...and if you think you can have any sort of lasting effect on it, then more power to you.  As for myself, I don't think you get to keep your 'worth' when you Waken.  Your part in the Dream will have finished as it was meant to, and the Dream will sweep on without you, carried aloft by other minds and other thoughts.  If you define your own value by what others remember of you in the Dream..."  He shrugs again, not voicing how idiotic he believes that mode of thought is.  Miruvin always seems to make him poetic after awhile...usually he doesn't bother with all the artistic speech.

"I know my own worth, and I do not require others to tell me my value, nor do I require their memories to feel that my role is more important or greater than it is or ever was meant to be.  I know my role, and I perform it very well.  I pity you if you must obtain your self-worth from the minds and memories of others.  But you are who you are, I suppose.  Such a shame to give others so much power over you."  Rathien drains the glass and sets it on the table, the pleasant sensation of warmth spreading through his body.

"I could pity you as well. We have very different opinions on what makes a person important. You seem to be extremely self centered, and that's just not something I can afford to be. I suppose there are many self centered politicians, but they don't usually last very long if the public has any say about it. Unless the public is kept uneducated and ignorant."

"I don't let the opinions of others dictate everything I do, but I do like to have friends that care about me. I doubt my lifestyle would keep me from enjoying myself to the fullest. I just find enjoyment in different things than you do."

Onysa is a young adult humanoid chimpanzee scientist who had been recently given a position under the aging orangutang Dr. Zaius. Thrilled at first to be given such a prestigious job, things began to quickly change. Like others before her, Onysa forged a friendship with a human who was not like the others around her. When her human friend was captured, Onysa escaped in an old space vessel that her friend taught her to pilot. She has been forced to land outside a strange building.

Onysa stepped out of the small ship and glanced around her. It looked much like where she had come from. The young chimpanzee, in her mid-twenties, was having a hard time believing she was on what her human friend had called "another world".

She saw a building up ahead, and since there was nothing else around, Onysa decided to give it a try. A sinking feeling overcame her when she saw just how many humans were inside. She tried to push that aside. Not all humans were the way Dr. Zaius said. It couldn't be that way surely. Onysa was wearing her blue top that signified she was in the medical field along with light brown trousers and shoes that accommodated her ape feet. All she could think was that she was the only one of her kind in the bar.
