~Raile~

Raile sighs as his fighter drops out of hyperspace, scanning the locality.  His long-range scanners had detected some technology at this locale, though all of it appeared foreign.  He only hesitates a few moments before disengaging his fighter from its hyperdrive transport ring.  Every time he did so now, it felt like an inordinate risk.  Even if he was still in transmission range of the Republic, he could not risk contacting them for a replacement if someone decided to destroy it.  He doesn't have much of a choice though as he's in need of supplies.  Perhaps this place is far enough away for him to rest or stay for a time.  His R4 unit beeps and Raile nods, "Yes, we're landing."

His arrow-head shaped Aethersprite-class fighter slices into the atmosphere of the small planetoid and he reaches out with the Force.  There's life...life and thought.  And his scanners still detect technology that must be ships of some sort.  He zeros in on a reasonably-sized if shabby construction of...wood?  Apparently this place hadn't heard of duracrete or plasteel, or had no access to proper building supplies.  And yet the ships parked outside were definitely of a higher technological level than the structure itself.

He maneuvers his fighter in deftly and lands a bit away from the other ships, opening the canopy.  He sighs again as he climbs out of the craft and seals it again.  He touches the lightsaber over his shoulder as well as the one at his waist self-consciously.  He supresses a pang of sadness at touching his former master's saber.  His old master's final action had been to push his lightsaber into Raile's hands and tell the young Jedi Knight to flee.  He allows his hand to remain reverently on the lightsaber for a few moments before removing it and squaring his shoulders, pulling the hood of his robe up over his head.  He glances at the droid ensconced in the back of his fighter, "Keep an eye on the ship, R4...we might need to make a hasty exit."  The droid beeps his acceptance and falls silent as Raile turns and walks toward the woefully dilapidated-looking structure.

Raile doesn't know what the structure is or what it's purpose might be, but it seems to be the place where all the people are located.  He glances around as he walks toward the structure and sees two aliens of a species the likes of which he's never seen before.  One appears masculine, while the other is smaller and has a feminine air.  Both are shades of blue, but they seem to posess both a lower and an upper body, the latter being humanoid while the former seems more like a slight beast of burden.  Neither wore any clothing, but the one Raile perceives as being male has some sort of cross-harness over the upper portion of his body with what appear to be curved sticks hanging down on either side, perhaps weapons of a sort.  He also notices what appear to be blasters on both creatures.  He closes his eyes and takes the opportunity to wrap himself in serenity.  The loneliness is a terrible feeling, but only if he allows it to truly touch him.

He continues on, walking through archaic swinging double doors, and uses both hands to pull his hood back, revealing his young-appearing and slightly angular face.  He looks around the room and immediately recognizes the place as a type of cantina, though none like he'd ever before seen.  There are some humans and he's glad of it, though they wear garb completely foreign to him.  His eye suddenly catches a human wearing a light brown robe...a lighter shade than his own but there is no mistaking its meaning.  He stands to his full 5'11" height, his green eyes flashing emerald fire in excitement before he schools his features and walks calmly to the bar a good distance from the other robed individual.  He supresses his features again as a new surge of hope and joy breaks through his strict serenity.  To see another Jedi...if that was what he was...he has to be...Raile shakes his head a bit, his short-cropped dirty-blond hair barely moving with the motion.  He glances at what appears to be the bartender, the humanoid staring at him stoicly, expectantly.

"I don't suppose you have any Blacknip or, Force be with me, Whyren's Reserve?"  The BT wordlessly reaches under the counter and comes up with a somewhat dusty bottle of amber-gold liquid.  Raile's eyes raise in surprise and a smile manages to break through his facade.  This was welcome indeed.  Rarely had Raile seen the liquor native to Corellia beyond the "Brothers" themselves, and what he had seen had cost a star-system and a half.  The BT produces ice from under the counter as well as a tumbler, and pours the smooth liquid for Raile, setting the bottle beside the mostly-filled glass.  Raile pulls a few credits from his belt and sets them on the bar counter, picking up the tumbler and drinking gratefully, wholly savoring the liquor.

The implications behind this establishment actually having at least one bottle of Whyren's Reserve meant that they must've had contact with the Republic at one time or another despite being well and truly beyond the outer rim.  Perhaps, Raile thought, he'd be able to find help.  The other Jedi was as much a welcome surprise as the liquor, perhaps he would have news...maybe he would know what was going on in the Republic.  For the first time in months, Raile feels hopeful as he drinks, silently watching the room and listening.

Keshin smirks a bit, noting Corliss' somewhat defensive reaction. "Touchy, touchy. It must be you who initiated this whole mess. Or at least you're involved somehow. You ought to pick less psychotic friends, rebel. I didn't shoot your buddy for the heck of it, by the way. He was trying to attack me. Either way, that's fine. I'll avoid the entire Peace Movement as targets as long as the goods are coming through. And since you're talking to the newbie, I'll avoid you in general."

Keshin waves nonchalantly and locates the front of the Bar, calmly sitting down next to the Bartender. <Okay, no rebellion members and no Zorish. That is half our clientele. What do we do?>

<Well, somebody in here's gotta want someone dead. Hard to find a dry spot in a Bar like this.>

<Please. I think we might have hit one.>

Keshin lets out an annoyed sigh. It would happen. Either things would get crazy, or he would find someone to talk to. It had been a few days, and the Bar couldn't go that long without exploding. Once it did, they'd almost certainly find work. Chaos attracted bounty hunters.  ****************************************************************************************
Mar looks up and frowns slightly as another brown-robed person passed by. He wasn't precisely sure what bothered him about those....people, other than their status as magic-users. There were plenty of supernaturally capable individuals in the Bar, including himself. Perhaps it was their apparent aura control, which suggested he could not manipulate them so easily. Despite his newfound sanity, he still only had access to the information he had brought with him.

"Chardonnay," he muttered carelessly. He'd check out the patrons in a moment----first, his wine. It had been hours since his last glass, and that bothered him. He wondered where his Precious had gone, and why only her stupid flunky was there.

Now that Keshin was gone, Derrel could continue his conversation with Mike. He did have a couple of topics he wanted to talk about, and he figured Keshin would be the easier one.

"So who is that lady with? She blackmailing you guys or something?" He asked quietly without looking at Keshin, so she wouldn't tell he was talking about her.

Corliss hesitates in the midst of starting the sketched, black-and-white game of Pong.

<<Someone's hailing the ship,>> he murmurs curiously.  His tone flattens.  <<An Andalite signal.>>  Inside the pool the readout gives nothing more detailed than that.

Hoping perhaps it is who he thinks it is, he answers the hail.  His ultrasonic voice translates into a textual readout.

This is Corliss Three-Eight-Two.  Who is this?

"Thank goodness for small favours," Mike snaps, watching Keshin stalk off toward the bar.

He turns sourly back toward Derrel and Illim.  "None of your bloody business, mate, it's a long story and I don't want to get into it.  Suffice it to say she's not exactly a friend, but not exactly an enemy, either."  He punctuates his irritation with a long draught of beer.

The Andalite hail cuts through Terenia's mid-game laughter abruptly. She had actually managed to forget about all of her stress for a brief moment, but now it came crashing back around her.

<You think it's Ossanlin?> she asks urgently. I was actually enjoying myself she thinks in wonder. I was having fun. When was the last time I had fun?

Zorish coughs, choking on his water. "I'm sorry," he says, setting the glass down and staring at Garreth with wide eyes, suddenly paying full attention. "Hundreds of thousand sapient citizens? How is that possible?" He ignores Garreth's own question, finding this information much more pertinent.

<<Impossible,>> he whispers internally to Tamora. <<A hundred thousand people on thousands of planets?>>

<<Maybe he's lying,>> Tamora suggests.

<<Maybe. But perhaps not...>>

<<No clue,>> Illim responds to Derrel's internal questions mildly. <<I'm going to chat for a sec, if you don't mind.>> And with that, he slides right into control of his new host.

"Hey," he murmurs to Mike, Derrel's countenance immediately sliding into an easy grin. "Derrel's been driving a while; thought I'd take back over for a few." He slides into a seat at the table and leans back, elbow draped casually over the back. "He's inquisitive, hope it's not bothering you."

Serid shifts uncomfortably in his seat. "My own people are... not blameless," he murmurs to Simon, folding his hands on the tabletop. "I will admit such a thing. War is complex, and I imagine that intergalactic relations remain difficult, even in times of peace." He sighs, shaking his head. "In any case, if you wish to negotiate directly with the rebellion, I cannot help you."

"Okay." Derrel said. "It kind of bothers me the way Corliss treats Efaen. Does he treat any other non Yeerks like that, or does he just treat Andalites that aren't Ossanlin like dirt? Look, neither she or I are joining this rebellion because we really want to. It's just that we don't want to go home or join the Empire. We don't want to join the Empire because we don't want to be treated like property, which is pretty much how Corliss has been treating Efaen. I'm getting some mixed signals here." Derrel said before Illim took over.

"Alright. Thanks anyway." Simon said. He left the table, and took a look around. A few people had walked in while he was talking. He settled back down to his own table and watched the crowd. He wondered who the guy in the worn uniform was, but he didin't seem to be in a happy mood just now.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin reads the text response with some befuddlement...the only explanation was that the text was pool-originating...and the only explanation was that Corliss was not in Mike.

<Yes, I'm simply letting you know that I will be beginning the procedure upon Terenia shortly.  Efaen and I are currently on our way to the Skimmer.  We will be there shortly.  Please prepare your med-bay and let Terenia know.>

Corliss listens to the reply with a mixture of emotions.  Elation and excitement for Terenia's procedure, fear, and frustrated irritation.

She's heard you, Ossanlin, comes the text reply, but I'm afraid I can't prepare the med bay at the moment.  I'm in the pool.  If I unlock the ship for you, can I trust you to know what to do?

He pauses before adding, More pertinently, can I trust Efaen?

Mike smiles into his beer.  "Don't worry, Derrel, you won't be treated like cattle," he says.  "I can assure you of that."

He looks up as Illim takes control.  "Nah, mate, it's only natural he wants to know what he's getting into."  Mike huffs a laugh.  "That's more than most of us got, before all this, you know.  Reckon you'll fit in just fine."

Mike starts a little as his link trills.  He pats his uniform and fishes out his link.  "Sorry, half a moment here."  He brings up the holoscreen.

Myitt glares at him on the flickering visual.  "Where the hell are you?" she snaps.  "I'm almost home."

Mike raises his eyebrows in surprise.  "Yeah, erh, it's Mike, love.  Corliss is having a bit of a feed.  You got there fast."

"Time distortion," Myitt says off-handedly.  "Probably only a few hours' worth.  Just get your butts back here, Reven wants to handle the new recruits.  Like, pronto."

Mike shrugs.  "He's already talked to a few of them, he can wait another bloody day," he says, heat rising in his cheeks.  He loved Myitt almost as much as Corliss did, but she had a way of irritating Mike himself that never seemed to faze her brother quite as much.

Illim's eyebrows shoot skyward and he grins at the sound of Tara's familiar voice. <<There she is,>> he declares to Derrel, without explanation.

He leans over Mike's shoulder. "Hello again, Myitt," he interrupts the conversation in Derrel's most cheerful tone. "It's Illim again, but now with a shiny new host. Reven told you I'm gonna be tagging along with your bro?"

Serid nods and folds his arms against his chest, watching Simon go with a sigh. His eyes drift back towards Illim, who now seems enthralled with the human's comm link. How much longer? he wonders, his thoughts drifting to the Andalite War Prince.

<<No man, I think someone slipped you a clunker, hoping you wouldn't hold out for a better deal.>> Derrel said, joking about the fact that he was a scrawny dirty man. Poor Corliss and Mike, trapped between a rock and a hard place. Maybe we could slip Mr. Ossanlin an energy drink or two.>>

Garreth was amusedly surprised by Zorish's reaction to his response. She didn't respond at all to his inquiry, she merely began a new line of questioning. He took in a breath to respond, until he felt a disturbance in the Force. It was someone reaching out to sense others. Another Force-sensitive was now here at the cantina. Garreth ignored the feeling and began answering Zorish's questions, "Yes, it has been this way before recorded history. How many planets in your galaxy contain sapient creatures?"

It was after this, he felt the presence grow. A cloaked figure entered the bar. The robes were obviously Jedi. Garreth became elated at the sight of another Jedi. The Jedi lowered his hood and had shown his face. This particular Jedi wasn't familiar to him. Hopefully this "anomaly" didn't bring him from another time. It would be good to not have to worry about causality in regards to Time. Conversing with this comrade would be much easier.

Not wanting to be rude, he returns to his conversation with Zorish, however continues to sense the Jedi's movements. He follows up his question, "There can't be that many seeing your reaction to my statement.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin sighs a moment before sending a reply.  <I can't say I'm an old hand at Yeerk script...I know enough, but I cannot say I'm particularly well-versed in Yeerkish medical terminology.  And I was under the assumption that you trusted neither of us.  I will not harm Terenia or yourself and Efaen is under my command, she will not disobey me, but I would really prefer it if you could prepare the facilities yourself.  I suppose I could carry Terenia to the Mirage and use facilities I am familiar with if you both would rather.  In fact that would probably be a better solution, but I was under the impression that Terenia would be uncomfortable aboard my ship.>

Claxter finished approaching the two. they hadn't responded to him, and Ossanlin was talking into the communicator. He stood quietly nearby, and listened. He gave Efaen a friendly acknowledgement.

Ossanlin nods to Claxter as he waits for Corliss' response.  He opens a second hail to Serid's communicator on a secondary frequency.
