Temrash obliged. He went and took a seat next to Tayliss. "Hey. I'm back. I got that thing you asked me for, but I forgot to bring it with me when I took a small detour." He said, looking around for Fiona. He didn't see her, and something told him something must have gone down. There was blood outside, and he remembered hearing a loud unfamiliar sound beforehand. Tayliss didn't look too happy at the moment either.

I stared at him...,Vetaq-Karmesh-Zaerdeq...

<Vetaq...your father?>, My hearts burned again. I felt almost like I'd rather be an Alvist again.

<We knew your father, Claxter. He lived with us on Jaegis IV for a time. It was a good thing he left. You can conjecture the reason...>

Trey starts for the third time in a row when a huge Hork-Bajir decides to take a seat at his table. He clamps his jaw tight, gaze dropping to the wood as he tries to discreetly scoot to the side. His face is as white as a sheet from the combination of attempted theft, suicide and now this.

<<She might reckon you're the worst thing ever just because you're a nothlit,>> Mike offers, <<but let's not forget that she's a bloody hypocrite, Terenia.  She might very well want to befriend Serid for her own perverse reasons.  An Andalite connection that might be able to shed some light on what it's like to befriend someone in the Peace Movement?  And a fellow Andalite-Controller, of a sort, to boot.>>

Aboard the Skimmer, in his isolated but comfortable pool, Corliss interfaces with the computer terminal via physical palp hook-up--a grooved metal surface that allows Corliss to connect to the Skimmer's communications and security systems.

He plays a sort of mental version of Pong, bored and above all worried, while keeping track of alerts the system might pop up.

I hate being stuck, defenseless, with nothing but surveillance and stupid games, he thinks bitterly.  Meanwhile my friends are out there...confronting a childish psychopath...

Salem slid back into his seat. He noticed the look on Trey's face- he was apparently more than a little perturbed by this place. Not that Salem could blame him- when Salem was that age, he wouldn't have handled the Space Bar half as well as Trey was.

"Hey," he said to Trey, smiling. "You were starting to explain to me that you're... what, a human child of two Yeerks?" He shook his head, "I don't get it. You're going to have to explain to me how that works."

He then glanced at Elayne, "And you had more news about the state of time and space in this bar? Good news, I hope. It's complicated enough already."

Temrash hadn't paid much attention to Trey, aside from noticing he was about as jumpy as he'd seen Claxter. Salem said he was supposedly the Human child of two Yeerks, and Temrash gave him an interested sideways glance while waiting for Tayliss' reply.

<Yes. I can. He had some bad experiences there.> Claxter said.

Apparently, Jasper had picked the popular people table. He'd just gone to pull out his sketchbook to work in while they chatted, but then they had company.

As a Hork-Bajir and that Salem guy took seats at the small-ish table, he wondered how many more chairs could fit. Sapttus wasn't sure how to react to the Hork-Bajir sitting across from him. Should he act casual, letting on that this wasn't unusual to him? Or act frightened by the razor-bladed lizard monster? Before he could decide, Salem started to pick up a few conversations where they'd been left off, presumably before he'd arrived. The mention of Trey's ... unique... ancestry was both a relief and a shock. It meant that Yeerks (and other such aliens) obviously weren't viewed as evil or anything necessarily evil. Or so it seemed from what he'd heard so far.

<<So... you want to say hi now?>> <<Not yet. We will, just... not yet. Don't worry Jasper, the time will come up all on it's own.>> <<Okay. Should I uh, even let on that I know what Yeerks and Hork-Bajir are?>> <<Well... we *did* come in  a Bug Fighter. That might just tip them off...>> <<Oh. Duh.>>

"That's... I've never heard of that before. I hope you don't mind me prying as well, but I'm somewhat interested in that, too." Jasper didn't agree with this really, but Sapttus extended his hand to the Hork-Bajir. "Hi, I'm new here. I'm uh, Jasper."

Ossanlin shakes his head as he continues inexorably toward the bar.  <I cannot offer an opinion based upon immortality as I am indeed mortal.  At least I was...I believe I am still.  Obviously you are more constant than any mortal's tenuous existance.  By nature you would lead a very long but lonely life.  I suppose you would've grown callous and distant over the years, no longer allowing yourself to feel so that you will not have to experience the pain of loss.>

He turns his main eyes on Mar as he continues walking.  <Death is a part of mortal life, as certainly as time is time.  Some do not accept this, but many do.  We know that every moment of existence is precious, because it will never come again, life is limited.  But for a deathless being such as yourself, I suppose it must be difficult to accept that someone you love will pass from existence, change, and forget everything about you.  I cannot make any promises as for myself or Elayne.  I am no longer completely mortal...but I do not know if my...pact did you say?  If my pact with the Ellimist will extend my longevity or not.  But I can promise you as long as I am myself, I shall count you amongst my friends.>

Ossanlin turns his main eyes back on the bar.  <And you can stop with your dark, maudlin attitude.  You may be older than the ages, but you do not know everything.  And I think you think you know more than you actually know.  Pain is a part of the risk...but is the mitigation of pain truly worth the sacrifice of joy?  And of love?>

Trey shifts uneasily as Salem's comment drew the attention of both the Hork-Bajir and Jasper. Suddenly all eyes are on him - a fact that makes him extremely uncomfortable.

"I, uh-" Trey pauses to clear his throat. He picks up his tumbler, which is almost completely empty after having spilled it, and tips it back. The small amount of water remaining trickles down his throat. Coughing, he begins again, his eyes never leaving the table.

"I probably shouldn't talk about it," Trey admits. "The whole time travel thing, you know? But, uh...yeah. So, in my time the war between the Yeerks and the Andalites is pretty much over. The Yeerk Empire lost, and the Andalites had to figure out what to do with all the Yeerks." The uncertainty in Trey's voice begins to clear as he recites the familiar story. He knew two versions; the one that he had been taught at school and the one his father had taught him. He stuck to his father's version.

"The Andalites, being power hungry and eager for control, wanted to send us all back to the Homeworld and initiate a quarantine. Or kill us all. But then, with the help of the humans, they discovered an even better option. Better for them, worse for the Yeerks.

All Yeerks were ordered to become nothlits. They were given the morphing power, given an animal and told to become that creature indefinitely. It would ensure the elimination of our race within one generation, but at the same time," he shrugs, "we would be able to watch it happen slowly. Most of the Yeerks were given awful, helpless bodies. Small birds and lizards and other useless animals, many with a shorter life span. My parents were among the lucky few granted human bodies."

He dares a glance up from the table to see the reaction of his table group. "As far as how I got here, well, pretty much the normal way for humans. But my parents are Yeerk, no matter what they look like."

Mar closes his eyes for a long while...and then shakes his head, turning to Ossanlin. "......no. It's not worth the loss of the feeling I remember. Which is why my mortal selves keep on trying, over and over again. On some level even the Mass must believe that if I just find the right person or situation, I will become familiar with love again. Mortality tends to betray me in the Games, though. Many times I have been genuinely in love with someone, but no one bothers to check. Thinking perhaps that because the rest of me is repulsive, I cannot love."

Mar then nods at Ossanlin and states, "...I know you cannot come back with me, much as I'd want you to. You have a place in this world, and I'm forced to acknowledge that fact. The Mass seeks to twist your world against you selfishly, but I refuse to be responsible for pain right now. Still...I would wish to give you something in exchange for the things you have given me. What does the War-Prince want in the world?"

The spirit opens her eyes and looks out at the bar. She notes that Carris--or at least, she assumes it's Carris--is gone. She has been sitting, or rather floating, in a tree since killing her host.

The noise, ever present when she's in this form, is just a quiet hum at the moment, reverbrating through her. It'll get louder soon, until it is nearly unbearable. For now, though, she has some time.

She floats down, and moves further into the trees, always keeping in sight of the bar.

<<....What? But... How could those filthy Andalites do that?!>> He'd become hopeful when he'd heard mention of Yeerks receiving the morphing power. Certainly not all, but many, many Yeerks would do anything to be able to see, to hear, to live without the cries and screams of some hapless host always pounding in their head. Even if it was in a different Earth - a concept which neither of them really grasped even yet - that idea.... it was the solution. Or at least, a solution, one that many would kill to be part of.

But... to be forced? To be shoved into defenseless, pitiful bodies of creatures that had markets built on their extermination? That was unthinkably evil, even for the Andalite scum. Jasper was twitching with Sapttus' anger and indignation. He didn't expect and wasn't ready for his outburst.

"We aren't snails!" He shouted. "Who do they think they are to just -" <<Whoa, whoa! Guess that time came pretty quick, huh?>> Jasper interrupted his friend's ranting.  Sapttus fumed. He continued, yet with more control.

" - bully thinking, feeling beings into locking themselves away like that. Just because Andalites have their own eyes, ears, and legs doesn't mean that Yeerks are any less sentient." Jasper tried taking control again. At least Sapttus had changed to reffereing to 'the Yeerks' rather than 'we'. With a bit of effort, He convinced Sapttus to shove off control to his host, and he grumbled and argued quietly in his head. That made it easier for Jasper to speak, being able to pick out phrases from his mental ranting.

"I mean, they have a right to live as much as anyone else, right? It isn't like they chose to be parasitic. You... well, you have to work with the cards your dealt, right? That just...  isn't fair." He scratched at his neck, hoping he could play off Sapttus' slip-up as a slip of the tongue, rather than slip of the slug. He felt very self-conscious.

"You may call me Temrash." He said as he shook Jasper's hand. Trey's story bothered him a lot. Giving Yeerks morphing power to go to new bodies, just to force them to be non sentient nothlits?

"There is nothing wrong with being a Yeerk." He said, choosing to ignore Jasper's blunder in revealing he was a controller. "Either way it is genocide. How did the Humans win the war? Surely six bandits didn't really beat Visser Three, even with the help of free Hork-Bajir. He's incompetent, sure, but he's not completely brain dead. I'm sorry this happened to your species, and hopefully it won't happen in our dimension. I'm currently trying to find an end that won't result in genocide or total infestation of either side of this war."

<He is still alive, though not in active combat.> Claxter said. <He's one of the few members of my family that's not compeltely supportive of the war effort.>

We nodded, <He was a fine associate, Claxter. Slightly pessimistic, and partially gullible, but a fine associate.>, I stated.

We smelled he fresh air, <Are there any avian species on this asteroid?>
