Gallant noted Haviss' appearance and the strange conversation that passed between him and Rose. These two people had made a deal, while Rose was this drunk? How distasteful--- the man had taken advantage of an intoxicated woman. Still, they might both be part of the Yeerk organization and that was something he needed to know about.
"Yes, I was intending to buy Rose dinner," he said, looking at Haviss. "You can't deny that she certainly needs food in her condition. Are you a Yeerk as well? I'm very curious about what it is you do."
