"Alright. We can talk about something less sensitive." Though he wasn't sure what else to talk about if they weren't going to discuss the rebellion. He ordered a drink and some food so he could occupy himself while listening, and maybe he could think of something else later.

"Another turelek?" Gene asks sharply, glancing around as if one were about to appear.

He clears his throat, turning his distracted attention to Parker. "No, I'm not a Yeerk," he says with a wry smile. "I'm pretty darn human. But I...was once very close to one. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with this 'spartan' designation, outside of...like...Greek culture on Earth."

"There was a bounty hunter I was having conversations with earlier, but she ran off. There's also someone trying to assassinate another person, though the fight was taken outside some time ago. I don't know if he was a bounty hunter, or just a guy with a vendetta. This isn't exactly the safest place in the galaxy, and part of me wants to call a bodyguard or two, but that may be intimidating."

~Rathien~

Rathien tries to sneer, but the expression fails.  Then he spots movement off to the side of the tree, looking very real.  The indicator dot was still overlaid on the tree...but his ARC could be fooled too.  He turns toward the flash of movement and walks with purpose, fighting blades ready at his sides.  The movement resolves into Salem, and a very real-looking one.  A flash of anger flares up and his walk turns into a quick stride.  He growls, baring his fangs, and then yells as he swings one of his fighting blades at the somewhat-bewildered looking Salem.  He aims for the neck, but barely stops himself before the blade would've touched the "trader."  "You..you just couldn't die, could you?  You had to keep fighting.  Look at the mess you're in."  He growls.  "Why the Hell didn't you just run away like usual?  Better yet why didn't you just die?!"  He nearly swings the blade again in anger, but visibly fights off the urge, his blades vibrating with barely-constrained rage.

Rathien grimaces, wanting nothing more than to sink his fangs into Salem, no matter the poor taste of his flesh.  But he knows he's already lost.  His adrenaline rush begins to wane and quite suddenly, Rathien's legs give out on him.  He falls to his knees in front of Salem, seeming to fold in on himself.  He hugs his arms to his chest, blades crossing under his chin as he groans sharply.  Pain shoots from every part of him.  Was this the effect of whatever Tobias had injected him with?  It must be.  Of course the fool had only been buying time until his injection could work its magic.  Rathien angles his head up, eyes squeezed shut tightly, and yells out in pain before falling onto his side in a quivering heap.  In his current condition, Rathien can't help but think that a Gedd could perform a coup de gras on him with a rock.

~Raile~

Raile shakes his head.  "But what is near enough to cause ripples and what is not?  Could it not change the Galaxy...even the Universe drastically?  Wouldn't the effect be more and more amplified over a greater time-period?  What if the information I share with you affects decisions you make in your life?  Who's to say I have not already influenced you on a subconscious level?  It seems very dangerous."

Raile sighs and shakes his head, sipping from his new tumbler.  "That particular army would've swept over the Republic like a disease had it not been for a random turn of what we thought was good luck.  The Grand Army of the Republic had already been ordered, supposedly by a Jedi Master who had died some time ago.  It was all very vague.  The Army consists mainly of clones, you see.  Grown and groomed for battle."  Raile makes a noise in his throat before drinking again.  "Now I'm almost certain, by the way the Clones turned on Master Slone and I, that the Army was ordered by a Sith Lord, not Master Dyas.  Quite likely by the very Sith Lord who now rules the 'Republic' as an Emperor."

"The droids were built by the millions at the behest of the Trade Federation, and then production was increased when the Trade Federation joined with other factions in the Seperatist Movement."  He waves his free hand.  "Droids in my time are capable a reasonable facsimile of intelligence and autonamy.  They're cheap and expendable.  They don't require food or rest.  They are programmed not to fear their own destruction and will wade in anywhere they're told to without trepidation."

Garreth shrugs, "See? I have no idea what any of that means. Clone army, Trade Federation, Master Dyas. They mean absolutely nothing to me. Four thousand years is a very long time. There is nothing I can do in my Time that would impact yours short of leaving a message to the far future. I'm not going to do that."

Parker glared at Jocun, "It was that very bounty hunter that almost killed Terenia. You have a habit of picking just the right topics to talk about don't you?" Parker gave a sarcastic tone to the word "right".

Parker turns back to Gene, "Well, we were named after those Spartans. We soldiers were trained starting from six to eight years old. Raised to be the ultimate soldier. So how many non-hosts are in the rebellion if I may ask? I thought it was mostly a Yeerk organization?"

"I was attempting to make allies, and help Keshin to leave her way of life. I find oftentimes mercenaries are in the business due to circumstances, and not because they enjoy being hitmen and gofers for people. Keshin decided to remain a bounty hunter, though. I don't know the story behind why Keshin attempted to kill Terenia, so I won't comment on that. I certainly would never hire a mercenary of any type to harm a rebel, or stand by and let one do it. That would be screwing up my past, and I rather enjoy my current life."

"There are a few unhosted humans and Hork-Bajir on base, it's a complicated dilemma with so many good soldiers stuck in the pool. But, ah...most of us come to the rebellion because of a Yeerk, of course." He glances at Terenia, wondering if perhaps he's saying a bit too much.

"Uh." Gene's light brown eyebrows shoot up. "Wait a minute, you've been a soldier since you were six years old?" he blurts. "Man...I knew this bar place was something else, but I didn't expect human super soldiers." He grins excitedly. "So you must be from some kind of future Earth?" He barks a laugh. "Don't suppose you could tell me my lottery numbers?"

Parker smiled appreciatively. He had never met someone who was any kind of excited to see him. Most of the time he was sent in to babysit platoons that resented him. Most of the military saw the SPARTANs as freaks of nature, rather than an important ally. Although Master Chief SPARTAN-117 made an impact on that front when the SPARTAN program was made public, Parker himself still had never left the shadows or battlefield to take part in any PR stunts. He nodded his head and replied, "Unfortunately no. In my Earth, we didn't make first contact until the twenty-sixth century; and it wasn't as friendly as yours."

Terenia scowls a little at Jocun. "You must not have known many bounty hunters," she says. "Every turelek I've ever known has been in the job because it's what they love. They would have to, to live on the fringe like that. They're sick, the lot of them."

She looks as though she is about to say more, but instead Esreth steps into control, before Terenia can go off the handle.

"I'm sorry, Jocun," the Yeerk says with a small smile. "Keshin is not the only turelek that has caused Terenia harm. We rebels as a whole don't particularly hold them in high regard." She presses Terenia's lips into a thin line. "You are from a future line, then? Terenia observed earlier that you introduced your host, so I suppose that your timeline treats them a bit differently from how the Empire would prefer nowadays."

"I suppose we could have had different experience with mercenaries. And yes, in the future our people treat hosts quite differently. This is in no small part to the influence of the rebels. Slavery is illegal, and there are departments for host aide if they have complaints about Yeerks. The Council's power has also been diminished, due to most of their loyal vissers dying in the last battles and the loss of the fear of being wiped out once the Andalites lost the war. Though not perfect, it is a new and better Empire."

"The rebels are noted historical figures, and the thought of talking to someone like Reven, or even any other well known person would be akin to a Human getting to see Abraham Lincoln or great historical figures of other countries. Though I'll probably never get to."

Parker rolls his eyes and lands them on Jocun, "Bounty Hunters and Mercenaries are not the same. Bounty Hunters use kid gloves and capture rather than kill. Mercenary kid gloves are made of radioactive titanium. They don't know the meaning of the word 'subdual'. Sure, Bounty Hunters kill; but they're cubs compared to momma bear Mercenaries. Get your titles straight."

"A bounty hunter is a type of mercenary, and I have dealings with more types of mercenaries than just bounty hunters. That's why I used that word instead of just what Keshin is. It's possible that the reason I have better dealings with them is because first they'd have to be able to get past security, and if they were the worse type, chances are my bodyguards would have killed them before they got to me."

"A turelek kills, captures, maims and whatever else the person paying requires," Esreth murmurs darkly. "Perhaps it is different where you are from, Parker, but I would hardly refer to any turelek as a 'cub'. They are evil creatures."

She gives him a small smile to show that she means no disrespect for their difference in opinion, then turns back to Jocun.

"I have a hard time picturing Reven as an Abraham Lincoln figure," she says, her smile growing a little. "Besides, the Reven from your universe is likely not the same Reven from mine, though it would be nice to think that our little rebellion manages to make a significant impact on the war."

"I don't know if I'm from your future or not, really. I have little information to go on so far. Maybe it would be better if our timelines weren't quite on the same road. Less risk that I negatively effect my own personal present. Talk of your rebellion is sensitive, and talk of bounty hunters is not very pleasant. What better topics would you like to talk about?"

Parker gave Esreth a playful grin and replied, "Oh I didn't compare cubs to Bounty Hunters, I was comparing the relationship between the two as far as ruthlessness and danger. Though I will say I'm sure our two terms don't translate well. Sometimes you just have to pick the best term that's close enough to yours."
