"...I'd said no tomatoes..." Jasper muttered under his breath.
He and Sapttus had left for the bar a short while ago, and of all things, they were suddenly overcome with a desperate need to run to the restroom. Afterwards, they'd grabbed a seat at the bar, where Jasper ordered a sandwich. Salami, ham, and turkey, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and hot mustard. And no tomato. Just like he'd always had back on earth. It was such a relief that this place had the same foodstuffs as he was used to. Neither of them were sure how they'd survive otherwise. Sapttus may have been fine with it, but Jasper would have gone insane eating nothing other than oatmeal for weeks on end. He'd called the bartender over, who'd left with a smile, without a word, to carry out his request. Jasper looked at the other bar patrons. Was... he supposed to pay this guy? He happened to have some just a bit of cash, and some change probably, but he wasn't really prepared to build up a tab. He figured that if he wanted to be reimbursed, he would say something. That made sense... but it still felt weird.
Perhaps he hadn't spoken clearly enough, but when his plate arrived, he'd found a nice thick slice of juicy red tomato. Gross. He peeled it off with a grimace, set it on the side of his plate, and tried to not let the juice left behind bother him too much as he dug in. Fortunately, it didn't.
They looked around as they chewed. The crowd inside hat shifted some even just while he'd been in the restroom. He noticed the girl sitting somewhat close to him, idly drumming her fingers on the bar. There was.. something peculiar about her look - not that that was out of place here - and he realized he'd been staring, just slightly. Realizing this, he gave a little wave with his free hand, his other taken up with the sandwich.
