"Ah," Salem said as Corliss approached Zorish. He indicated Corliss's drawn Dracon, "Corliss, I think you need to take a few deep breaths. I'll let you two talk, then."
He turned away from the pair, and to Ewa. He wasn't actually going to go far- he wanted to see how this was going to play out- but Corliss might be more willing to talk to Zorish if Salem wasn't in the vicinity. Based on their history, though, it might not matter.
"This bar attracts all kinds," Salem said to Ewa. "From what I've seen, there isn't a whole lot of pattern behind who ends up here. There's a generally anti-imperial sentiment among most of the bar's customers, but," he said, waving a hand at Zorish's imperial uniform, "occasionally an imperial will show up here too." He looked over as Illim entered the bar. The Yeerk still seemed attached to Corliss at the hip. If it looked like Corliss would be busy for a few minutes, Salem might try to speak to Illim alone again. It wouldn't do to continue trying to speak with him if Corliss was going to keep interfering.
"So," he continued, crossing his arms and smiling, "what about you? Is it safe for me to assume 'Ewa' is a Yeerk name?" The more information he could get from this one, the more he'd know how closely to watch her.
