Life is not a fairytale. War isn't all fun and game. That's what KA was trying to teach us by ending the series the way she did. I didn't get it at first either, but in time it started to make sense. As cool as a new book would be, I think it would destroy the ending.

Happily ever after is for fairytales. People don't tend to die in fairytales (unless you count the original versions).  :P

Nothing is ever fairytale happily ever after, but what I would expect is for the characters to be stronger in the face of pain, and to go above and beyond to ensure an ending in which they can take happiness if they apply their hearts to it.
A bitter-sweet ending is still partly a happy ending.
*anything* is possible, *some* things are probable, this is what is.
And I will continue to deal with what is...
Until it is no more....

Indeed, there's hardly anything sweet about the ending. The world is saved, but that could have been accomplished in many different ways.

The Hork-Bajir settled in Yellowstone, but what they could have done was fly to their home world and helped with the resistance that wasn't even mentioned later in the series. I swear I thought the whole point of a valley of free Hork-Bajir was to foreshadow a sequel to the Animorphs series. A way to continue it after Earth was saved.

The Taxxons were given morphing power, but I never liked the beasts anyway.

The ending is very bitter, and can't even be called an ending.

i think she honestly got tired of it and screwed us off on the ending somtimes but really you cant end a book good its not possible theres no such thing as a good ending what if the animorphs did stop fighting there were no more adventures to go on is that not sadder than just wondering when you think about it she put a million ideas in the heads of a million kids and probaly even some adults so much that we are still talking about books some of us started reading when we were 12 and the whole fanfic thing is great the books werent written very complicated i think someone who takes the time to write these good fanfics should take the time to send them to her tell her she can have all the money hell if i was good enough to write one i would gladly tdo it and beg and harass her just so the story never has to end

yeah which is kinda why it's sort of hard to understand what he said. I got a couple of things, but there are places here and there that make no sense...or at least not enough sense.

actually, garatron speaking has punctuations. it just doesn't have a space between words

Consider #54 a MM5... It was written in that format, just not long enough, really.

Does this mean that with a little investigation we could find the number of books she's under contract for, and if its 1 short than produced, insist that she writes another animorphs book? Sorry K.A., I know I'm evil, but come on, we're loyal as hell give us one last book. Do it EVANGELION style so its a deal with the devil.

...There is a logical explanation as to why I read this topic as the 5th M&M....I'm sure of it...

I have to agree with what most people are saying. We didn't really get an ending.
And I think I like the idea of considering 54 a megamorph. I sometimes tend to forget that they're cannon, anyway.
Though a new book would be nice. A better, less cliffie book.

If there is an MM5, it should be another time travel themed one. Those always came out superb in my opinion :).

well that would solve the problem with the ending. If you could have the animorphs get sent back in time to fight one last battle for the ellimist. I wonder how the whole Rachel thing could be resolved?

After reading the last book, I thought maybe the reason KA had Cassie stay behind was so she might use the Time Matrix to reverse Rahel and Tom's deaths somehow. However, she never did this. Even though it's possible that most of the people that emailed her regarding the ending disliked tit to some extent.
