5th M.M.

In the final part of The Beginning K.A. says there are five Mega Morph's books, is this a KASU or a hint at more to come?

Nope, it's not a KASU because there really were supposed to be 5 Megamorphs. The 5th Megamorph was supposed to be the series finale, which would have featured a point of view perspective from all of the characters like all the other Megamorphs, and it was supposed to be released at the same time as #54. However, it was scrapped at the end because Scholastic felt that releasing both #54 and Megamorphs #5 at the same time and marketing them both as the final book would've been a little confusing for the kids, so K.A chose to only make #54 the last book instead, which is why it plays out like a Megamorphs book with perspectives from different characters.

The contract for Animorphs still held for a book to be published for the series, so they planned on replacing the 5th Megamorph by publishing a series bible instead. That for some reason also didn't go through as a book, but was instead turned into the Anibase that we have now (It's the same information that would've been released with it). K.A at the time was also writing Everworld which was supposed to have 1 extra book in the series according to its contract, so what Scholastic and K.A ended up doing was that they moved those two unused books from the two series into the Remnants series, giving it an additional 2 books.

Actually, it might have been 3 extra books in Remnants altogether, because K.A had also planned on writing a Taxxon Chronicles as well.  It would have featured Arbon's storyline, but K.A ending up scrapping that because she chose to add him in #53 instead. I just can't remember whether the Taxxon Chronicles turned into the planned 5th Megamorph after it was cancelled, or whether the contract added the book for that into the Remnants contract like the others as well.

There's no red tape. I'm surprised Scholastic was nice enough to allow K.A to do that. It would've been worse if K.A had to write a book she had no intention of writing.

Still is there any hope that we get another book or something? That would be awesome if she wrote a new animorphs book after all these years. A new generation could be exposed. There are so many ways to continue book 54 its not funny. I know she wanted it to be for fanfiction but I have this strange feeling that she thought about what was going to happen next too. Maybe get a new group of animorphs with cassie taking the place of Elfangor or something.

I remember hearing rumours about the Taxxon Chronicles, but I don't recall there being plans for a 5ht Megamorphs book. That would've been cool!  8)

The Megamorphs books, to me anyway, seem like novelizations of theatrical movies that tie in with the on-going series, IMO. Like if the reguler series was a TV series, then those would be the theatrical movies. That may just be me though, lol.

I'd say that's an accurate theory. Maybe they'll make the Megamorphs books into movies? Obviously they can't make movies out of all the numbered books, so it is a possibility.

Well its almost as though 54 was supposed to be a cliffhanger for a 55 that would not only tie up 54 but all the loose ends that ever were.

As awesome as it sounds, I highly doubt she will ever write another Animorphs book. She made it pretty clear at the end of 54 that it was the end of the series. Besides, if she did tie up the "loose ends" then we'd end up with some boring "happily ever after" ending!  :barf:

I take exception! I enjoy happily ever afters, they make the prolouges of the sequels so much easier, its far more enjoyable to destroy a happily ever after and make the characters fight for it a second time.  >:D

Its not happily ever after if they all die or something.

Life is not a fairytale. War isn't all fun and game. That's what KA was trying to teach us by ending the series the way she did. I didn't get it at first either, but in time it started to make sense. As cool as a new book would be, I think it would destroy the ending.

Happily ever after is for fairytales. People don't tend to die in fairytales (unless you count the original versions).  :P

I agree that a "happily ever after" would be inappropriate.  Still, I would have liked a conclusive ending of some kind.  There would have been at list some closure, rather than just leaving it hanging.

After 54+ books I wanted a read ending.
"Well, that idea might make a stupid idea feel better about itself."
"His goat killed you?"
"I love you shovel."
"Your conscience calls you on the telephone?"
