No problem, Este! I've uh... been behind too. ;D But never fear! We will be having action soon! Yes! Action! something more than idle chitchat.... :P I *think* I have a good understanding of how this will work out, as me and Shock talked for a while today. If y'all have any questions, feel free to ask either here or in a PM to me, and don't worry about filling my inbox... It's pretty empty right now, and I check often! I'm pretty sure we'll be having lots of questions, just keep in mind... this is a work in progress! I'm not totally sure about each of you, but I know that I knew next to nothing about dice based RPing before joining here. I'm glad y'all are cool with the changes so far....

Here's Marty sheet. I'll see what I can do about getting Baron to put these on the first post when we get them all in.

A/ 6
D/ 9
S/ 11
Aw/ 13
L/ 7
W/ 8

I think these are all reasonable, but if anyone has an issue with these, make sure to mention them.

How do you pick those numbers? Diceroll +/- species bonus?
Do we individually pick them, or have them picked for us?
The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. For our characters Attack Defense and Speed, I was going to say to pick your own numbers. Keep them on a 1-15 scale, I'd say. For Willpower and Luck, Baron gave us a Base of five, and then we rolled to see what we added to that. That gave us somewhere from 5 to 15. And then, whenever either of those traits came into play, we rolled again, adding to our adjusted score (of 5 + roll).
How do you pick those numbers? Diceroll +/- species bonus?
Do we individually pick them, or have them picked for us?
Again, I'd say we select numbers that line up with our characters. For example, I think that Chris should have a higher attack rating than Marty (since Chris plays football), and Fisher should have it higher than both of them. Reli would naturally be higher than Fisher as well. For Awareness, I'd say that we do the same as we did for Luck and Willpower (5+roll), although I think Andalites (aka, Reli) would generally have a higher score than humans, due to their stalk eyes. Let's say +1 "Stalk eyes" for Andalites.

Just to reiterate:
Select Attack, Defense, and Speed based on your character's ALREADY ESTABLISHED traits.
Roll for Awareness and add five.
Keep Luck and Willpower.

Are we using d10 or d20 for our Awareness roll?
I rolled 1d10 = 9.  +5 base +1 Andalite bonus = 15
I rolled 1d20 = 7.  +5 base +1 Andalite bonus = 13

I'll assume that Reli has max speed of the group, both in terms of reflex/reaction speed and running/locomotive speed (in this case specific to flat ground).
On a slope or in trees, any Hork-Bajir would have highest speed. Leerans would be fastest in water, and humans would be fastest in any enclosed structure with stairs, narrow halls, and/or low ceilings.

[ramble] I'm probably making this way more complicated than necessary, but would it be constructive to add "situational" or "locational" bonuses to speed of each species on different terrain? Like... +5 speed for humans in human buildings, and +2 or +3 for Hork-Bajir in human buildings, since they're still bipeds and can take stairs faster than Andalites or Leerans? +5 speed for Hork-Bajir in trees and on steep slopes; +5 speed for Andalites and +2 or +3 speed for Hork-Bajir on level ground in open spaces... and so on for Leerans in water...   [/ramble]

Do Leerans get an awareness boost because of mind-reading?
Do humans get attack/defense boost because of handheld weapons and body armour when they are available?

As for Reli... I'll adjust these as per GM feedback, but-

Speed = 13 on ideal terrain (locomotive speed) and in prime fighting condition (reflexive speed)
Attack = 11 (without a handheld weapon, maybe +2 or +3 with a firearm or beam weapon in hand) while in prime fighting condition. 15 would be something insanely powerful and long-ranged, and Reli's range is still limited compared to ranged weapons, even though she can outreach Hork-Bajir and animal morphs.
Defense = 10 when in prime fighting condition. She's a large target from the sides and has no protection from firearms or beam weapons; she can only defend from direct melee attack, and only one strike at a time unless she also has a beam weapon or firearm. She's still faster and better at jumping and turning than humans, but she can't duck behind barriers as easily, and the simple act of sidestepping requires her to move more of herself than humans would need to move of themselves. Assume that defense and speed both drop by several points if she has an unarmed human rider, but that defense (obviously not speed) rises by a point or two if she has an armed rider to give cover fire.

Yeah, I'm really overthinking this way too much. :P
Time to get to class. ^_^

:drools: Yeah, this stuff has the potential to be way confusing. I understand what you mean about speed changing on different terrain, but maybe we can deal with that on a situational basis?  Maybe we could use this:

Favorable terrain: +1 speed.
Detrimental terrain: -1 speed.

For Reli, for example, this would mean that one level open terrain, she'd get +1. Indoors would be neutral. In water and slopes would be -1. I don't think an Andalite is capable of climbing and/or moving through trees. Weak arms, plus horse legs, equals no climbing.

Oh boy, what have we gotten ourselves into? :P

Things like weapons and firearms and armor would affect attack and defense... do we want to juggle those modifiers as well? And then you have the whole "prime-condition/fatigued" situation to figure in that would also change attack and defense scores. And a loud crowded room or fog or darkness would affect awareness, and... :explode: Maybe we don't adjust it for weapons, which would make them more of an accessory, with no strategic advantage. Gah, this is confusing. Or we could go by this:

stick/bludgeon/knife/shank/bow&arrows/rock +1
Dracon/firearm/Shredder/spear/sword/ax/ +2

I think that's somewhat reasonable. These would be the same modifiers for whoever wields the weapon. You'll notice I included items that we probably won't ever see.

Yes, Leerans get an Awareness boost: "I'm in your head" +4 Awareness
I say D10 for awareness, which gives Reli Aw/15. And yes, I'd agree she's fastest, generally speaking.
And again... :explode:

...I'm confused.  :P

Are we rolling for our new stats or are we choosing our own numbers?  (great, more making up things about Leeran physiology :P)

you are and your making the GM's head explode. that's never a good sign.

most of the stuff right now are dealing with the very basics.

as of right now, 5 is the average trait for everyone. it may be lowered or raised depending on what the character does or has done.

for example: a person who mainly deals with computers and doesn't get out a lot gets a 2-4 towards defense or attack due inactivity and not having training. a person who is active and undergone military training (or the like) gets a 6-7.

now like i said, we need stats for the largely mental or social characters so they aren't left out due to most of this stuff is largely based on the physical. that will be up to the GM if he wants to discuss that or leave it to his digression.

you're keeping willpower/luck. you then get a base number on how active your character is assigned to you then you roll a 10d dice which then you will add the sum of that roll to your base number to get your attribute.

Okay, since honestly, Leerans are pretty clunky on land, Mesa's base attack, defense, and speed would be pretty low, correct?  It's only really in water that she gets a huge advantage.  So would that be...like...2 for all three?   :-\  (Poor Leerans  :P)  For the base, at least.

Maybe give Leerans a sliiightly higher defense? I mean... they can lose half their head and still survive very nicely. A lot of things aim for the head.

*smack myself*  I need to reread the book where they actually HAVE Leerans in it.  That's a good point...would that bring it back up to a four?

*nod* I'd think at least four, but not more than 6. Probably on par with humans, or a teensy bit more in case of attacks involving projectiles.

Just to reiterate:
Select Attack, Defense, and Speed based on your character's ALREADY ESTABLISHED traits. ((Scale from 5-15))
Roll for Awareness and add five.
Keep Luck and Willpower.
Using this system, you would choose your own A/ D/ and S/, considering your character's abilities. For example, I assume that Chris would be stronger in all three of those stats than Marty, since he plays football, and works out, etc. For awareness, I assume that you rolled that 4, so that would be a 9 (4+5) in this system. Luck and Willpower are exactly the same as they are in the character list in the RP thread.
Do keep in mind that attack is also based on strength, not just combat skill. Also, speed isn't just based on how fast you can run, but also on your reflexes. That might help *some*......

Oooooh...thanks, Bear....God I feel dumb.  -_-  That changes things.  Scale of 1-15...

Attack: 8  She's spent her whole life swimming, which requires a lot of physical effort.
Defense: 6  She's a large target, and slow.  However, she can loose half her head and still live, so that helps.
Speed: 5  She's slow on land, but hearing thoughts has helped hone her reflexes.
Awareness: 14  Rolled a five, with a base of five and +4 bonus.
Willpower: 11
Luck: 16

Does this look good?
