Dream Actress for Rachel's Role
« on: October 27, 2010, 07:59:14 PM »
Hey guys! I'm really new here and this is one of the first few threads I've started. Anyway, my question is who would be your dream actress to cast to reprise the role of Rachel should there ever be another movie re-make. Now although the focus is on Rachel, feel free to state your dream actress for Cassie's role or even any of the other guys, Jake, Marco, Tobias, Ax, the whole lot. Do provide reasons for your choice!

I'll start with mine.

I know it's a bit of a common choice but I feel that Emma could bring out the soft side of Rachel that Brooke Nevin never really did. Plus, she's a great actress and I do feel she's capable of giving Rachel the aggressive edge, albeit a calculated form of aggression. Another plus point is that with the current level of technology, Emma will probably look pretty epic morphing into all sorts of animals and of course having Emma Watson in your cast will definitely help with marketing and publicity. :p

I'd disagree with your assessment of Brooke Nevin. Brooke Nevin had plenty of softness. Brooke Nevin was nothing but softness. Brooke Nevin had so much softness that she took Rachel all the way into gutless territory.

I don't know how I feel about Emma Watson. From the HP movies I don't think she's a very good actor, but given that so many people do badly in that film I'm not sure if the cast is weak of if they've had a string of bad directors. What else has she been in?

well to me, when i first watched the series, i had the images of the nook cover models in mind. the actors turn out to look different. only the actors to play tobias and rachel resembled the cover models to a certain extent.

that being said, brooke nevin was n ok rachel because she had the blond hair goin on. but as for her face shape, it was too round i reckon. too ordinary girl next door appearance. dont get me wrong, i think brooke is attractive, but but just not having the rachel faceshape.

now in the books, in the characters narration, when they talk about rachel they always go on about how amazingly beautiful and attractive and model like she is. i think emma, now looking more grown up and defined and with the blond hair now and her faceshape - sharp and angular, is a really suitable rachel. she certainly resembles the book cover model more than brooke.

I always thought Aly Michalka would do well in it. She plays a slightly aggressive character in Easy A, she's tall, pretty, and witty. I know it would take more than that, but it's a good starting point.

It would be hard for me to see anyone else play her other than Brooke, she's just so engraved in my mind as this character. but I dont think they should pick anyone who's instantly recognizable like Ema. They need to be up and coming actors, no one too famous for anything. One of my picks I guess would be Emily Vancamp.

None of those people have Rachel's "icy blue" eyes. For me that breaks any deal (sorry contacts just won't do). Then again I can't really picture anyone playing Rachel...
And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.

Actually 11:11 has got some sort of a point, the thing about characters written in books is that sometimes they're so well-described that no one in reality(or in this case, no actress) could really resemble Rachel 100%. Then again, I guess it's part of the challenge trying to find the perfect compromise. Getting an actress who looks exactly like Rachel is one thing, but can she pull off Rachel's personality and make it believable? That's another story altogether.

I just thought of another girl, Anna Sophia. This one's is more age appropriate, she's 16 so it wouldn't be as much of a stretch to play 15.  I think a lot of us, the older fans anyway, pick older girls, us guys especially because its easier to relate and because its nice to be legally allowed to be attracted to them. heh. But if we really want to cast accurately, you have to go younger. I first saw this girl in Bridge to Terribithia, so I know she's got great acting chops.

She might not have blue eyes, but work with me here. Blue eyes aren't the most c'mon. at least their blond. I have a pet peeve about hair dye, and Hollywood is really bad about dying hair when they can just as easily cast people who are naturally the right color.  Eyes aren't as big of a deal to me.

that being said, Brooke Nevin was n ok Rachel because she had the blond hair goin on. but as for her face shape, it was too round i reckon. too ordinary girl next door appearance. don't get me wrong, i think brooke is attractive, but but just not having the Rachel face shape.

I cant agree with you there... she has an angular jaw.

Ok, so this a more recent pic, and her jaw has gotten more angular as an adult, but this was always a distinguishing trait Ive noticed.  And I had the biggest crush on her in 98. (heck I still do, wish she could get bigger roles)

But back to the topic...

Yeah.  I don't know why anyone thought they were "perfect."  Mostly they just sucked.
