"Too close," Josefina said in little more than a whisper.  "I'm so glad I kept my mouth shut.  I don't do the whole lying thing well.  Oh I've been thinking of ways to know where our families go.  GSP is a little above our operation right now.  Miniature mics aren't small enough.  So I thought of smelling my family while in dog morph."

Chad saw his father come in, and he turned around, not facing his dad. In a flat, monotone voice, he said, "Don't say anything. I feel hopeless. But aren't we hopeless? We haven't even done anything, and my morale is dropping, if you want me to put it that way. This whole thing stinks."

"Dog morph?" Brian wondered why this surprised him. That had to be better than crab. "Wow. It seems like you're accepting this a lot better than Chad is. But I guess I can see why.... You got a dog? We don't; all we have at my house is a cat. Well, and some goldfish, but... no." Brian shook his head slightly. "You know what's crazy? The only thing I was worried about this summer was getting into college next year." he chuckled.

His son's direct and rather blunt statement made Sean stall before speaking. "I know you better than that. Yeah, you're right. Things are looking pretty bad. But you're not going to give up on this. I know you better than that."

Chad turned around to face his father. "Do you really know me? Do any of us really know each other? I mean, this may sound cheesy, but I don't think even I truly know what there is to all of me. If I am going to do anything, I'm going to need time. Just...just let me think, okay?"

"I might not have the guts to do it.  Its easier to think of this stuff then do it.  Also I would need what a Yeerk smells like," Jo sipped at her tea before changing the subject.  "Do you think we'll be able to go to college, I mean, with us fighting a war and all."

Sean nodded as his son spoke. I can't expect him to take all this lightly, he thought. "Take your time." He said. Chad would pull through... he just knew it.

"Gosh. I don't know, Jo. How could we? Everyone who knows me knows that I'm planning on going to Sam Houston State next year, so I can't just not go. Maybe I'll have to fake applying for scholarships and stuff, so that I can say I can't afford it yet. That's just not cool, though, lying to people. Some trustworthy scout I'll end up being...."

"I'm not answering with the whole truth when dad and Miriam ask how my vacation was," Josefina said.  "The lie we got to worry about is what we say at customs."

Tarry flapped his wings to stay aloft, flying quite high above the deck of primitive Human ocean transport vehicle. <Yes human beings are silly backwards creatures, but they have there perks too,> told himself. He had long grown accostumed to speaking to himself after being strandad on the human island. He had been quite devastated when he had first realized that he was trapped in morph. He still missed his tail quite desperately. Missed everything about the great and glorious Andalite homeworld. Tarry even missed his cramped quaters aboard the splendid domeship yeerk Bane. The andalite found a decent place to land, a flock of earth-birds still flew around him despite the fact that they were out at sea now. Tarry had realized that he may not have chosen the best morph to be trapped in on this strange alien world. He had gotten the feeling from the Human Aliens he had attached himself too that his new form was slightly extraordinary, particularly it's ability to make mouth sounds.

OoC: I hope I did Tarry justice,  if this was an F rated post, i'll give him up.

"It's not like we're gonna tell them about this alien bird we met. We shouldn't have to worry, would we?"

"Sure nothing to worry about if the cube doesn't look, for lack of a better word, alien when X-rayed."

Olivia got to work and made a cup of coffee first thing.  She poured it out of the pot and drink.  She never added milk or sweetener.

"I don't know but I'm not taking it,"  she said as she added more milk to her tea.  "I still have a Canadian passport and more likely to be searched."

"...So I should go first and if you stay in the back of the line..."  She said slowly after a pause.  Thinking was dangerous but she thought it best if they didn't know.  "I'm gonna find Tarry."

Olivia read the memos on the billboard.

Tarry had grown bored of the Earth birds called seagulls and quickly decided to investigate the practice humans called Sunbathing. Tarry quickly discovered that it was not a cleansing ritual even though sweet smelling creams were rubbed on the skin. The shipwrecked Andalite was in the process of forming a new theory when the Ocean vessel blared it's alert system. "That horn is so loud," the human benath him yelled, clutching her ears. Tarry had nearly defeated the confusion the horn had caused, when he spotted Josefina. <Why did this vessel deploy it's warning system? I do not sea any enemies, we are not being attacked?> Tarry flew to a railing nearby and perched on it, hidden from most eyes by the design of the ships walls.
Meh.

"Well, have fun with that...." Brian said. "I'm gonna go back to my cabin for a while...." Sleep sounded good.

Sean turned and left Chad and went to the deck level. He wanted to be in the sunshine for a while... It was strange how this morning he'd wanted to lock himself in somewhere. He found a place to sit, and dropped his head in his lap. Somehow, he'd come to the conclusion that they had to have an active part in preventing the human race from being entirely enslaved. How would any decent human being not try and stop this? How could you live with knowledge and do nothing about it?

But these were kids!!! Okay, two of them were legally adults, but that wasn't the point. They hadn't even gone to college yet, not to mention finishing high school. How could he expect them to make that decision? Could they handle that kind of weight? This wasn't like getting the SAT or anything.... Sean knew that most people underestimated young adults, and teenagers typically never met their potentials simply because no one ever expected them to. But was this something he could ask them to do? Or maybe the question was, was this something he could control? If there was one thing teenagers hated was when adults tried telling them how to live their lives.... Oi, what am I supposed to do...?
