Chad had had nightmares all night long about crabs. In it, he had morphed a giant crab and went around killing people aimlessly. When he woke up, he staggered to the bathroom to look at himself. Terrible. After dressing, he went outside, looking strange. He saw his father and Jo and Brian, but didn't want to talk to them right now.

Chad walked into the room a couple minutes later, looking like he hadn't slept, which probably was the case. Sean moved over to the buffet line, and then to where his son was. He said, "Take a seat; I grabbed something for you already." Sean tossed him an apple. It was an attempt to keep him from seeing the crab legs. Seriously, who has crab legs for breakfast???, he thought. That was just too much. "How're you this morning?"

Chad took the apple and gave it a look. Red. Crab. He shuddered and put it on the table. "Well, considering that yesterday was the weirdest day of my life, I'm ok." He sighed and looked around. "I'm wondering if this is really even real. I mean, this could all be a prank..."

Jo stomach turned at the sight of the legs in Mr. Black plate.  Then she smiled to herself, "A prank! That's what this is, a prank.  Chad was the only one morph.  He's in on it."  She didn't mean anything she said but it felt good saying it.

(((btw, I was trying to keep Chad from seeing the crab legs at the buffet line. Sean's feeling like being vegetarian today like Jo is.)))

"A prank, by who? The bird?" Sean said. "Speaking of our feathered friend... have you seen him anywhere?"

"I saw him." Brian had come from his corner to sit beside the two. "He was way up in the rigging, just a little red dot. I don't think he noticed me...." Of course, I was avoiding him, he thought. "There is one way we could find out for sure...." He figured they'd know what he meant.

"You mean morph gulls to fly up to him and ask, 'Are you that crazy alien that got us in to this war?'"

"I mean, figure out if we are just hallucinating. Which really doesn't make sense if we're all dreaming it. But still..." Brian replied to Josefina.

Chad looked at everyone. "I don't feel so keen on morphing, you know. But if we had to, I guess I could." He sighed, "If they're better than the crab one, that is."

Jo sipped at her milk.  "You mean something with two arms and two legs."  Or something that doesn't taste so good when buttered, Jo thought to herself.

Olivia slammed the break as a bus cut her off.  She didn't bother to yell or even honk at him because he would never change his ways.  Just another scum bag, she thought.  People will do what they think they need to do no matter what happens to others.

Ultor sat in the office of 'The Futuristics Company', it was a large, yeerk controlled corporation that provided funding for the empires Texas Operation. In fact, this corporation was the reason Ultor had a human host, his host was the owner and CEO. The yeerk sub-visser spent much of his time here and found it fascinating. The humans did have a knack for business. Ultor was alone for the moment, he had just been through a meeting with his human board of directors. "Who would have betrayed me? Betrayed the Visser? Betrayed the mighty yeerk empire?" Of course Ultor was no fool, he knew the empire had enemies. Ultor stood and closed the blinds in his office. The room was darker; the plants, furniture, and coat rack all looked more sinister in the dark. As if they were plotting against him as well.
<Don't start loosing it on me,> his host said, <The Visser is just as likely to kill me as he is you.> Edward, the human Edward, had just as much to loose as Ultor did.
<You don't have to remind me,> Ultor told his host, <Besides, I know how to hand Esplin. He is a fool.> Ultor pulled a communicator from his desk and placed it on top. After a few moments Visser three's Andalite face appeared. "My visser, I have news." For the next twenty minutes Ultor told the Visser of his 'victory' over the traitors.
Meh.

"I'm guessing that we don't really need to prove this to ourselves though, do we?" Brian said, "I mean..."

"Well of course not. We observed for ourselves that the parrots ate fruits and seeds, not insects like the guide said. No need for debate here" Sean said while the others stared blankly. He looked over Chad's shoulder and smiled. Mrs. Johansen was standing nearby, definitely within earshot. "Enjoying the cruise so far, ma'am?" Sean asked.

"Certainly, Mr. Black." She said, returning the smile. "I couldn't help but overhear; you went bird-watching yesterday?"

"Oh, yes. These kids and I took a rental boat out to some of the eastern islands yesterday morning, and spent the day watching the wildlife. It was great! It almost sounds cheesy, but it was very educational as well." He said with a nod.

"That sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day!" She said. "So you kids are enjoying the trip, it seems..."

Brian looked confused for a second, then he suddenly understood. Mr. Black said that we checked out the east islands... we went northwest... Oh! If someone wasn't watching them, he would have smacked his forehead. That's what he'd realized... even if these people weren't the enemy, that didn't mean they were safe. Trust no one.

Chad looked around for a few seconds, but quickly understood. "Yes...it was so much fun..." his voice trailed off for a second. "But why are you interested? I mean for all we know you might be a Y--" his voice dropped off quickly, and he shook his head.

"---you might be thinking of giving us essays, is what he's saying." Brian filled in quickly. "We sure hope not, 'cuz that make it be a lot less fun..." He put on a fake concerned expression.

"Oh, no! Of course not! I'm sure that you've learned a lot exploring with Mr. Black. And you know what? Lots of professional educators say that discussion is a far better method of evaluating comprehension than worksheets and other written work."

"Fascinating!" Brian said. He would have rolled his eyes, but then she wouldn't have believes his act, of course.

"Yes; Mrs. Johansen is here to have fun. Just like the rest of us regular tourists, Chad. She is not going to worry about passing out homework, or filling your head with anything other than the memory of a good time." Sean sat with his arm over the back of the chair, and one leg resting on top of the other. He looked very casual. He hoped Chad would do the same.

Chad glared at his father, though inwardly, he knew he was right. He sighed at the weird lady and said, "Yes, I'm sure that it was very wonderful. That sounds amazing. But, you know,  I really need to get out of here. The food is making me sick." He grimaced and walked out.

Sean followed his son out with his eyes. He was concerned for him. It was hard to imagine what he was feeling right now. It had to be a little nerve-racking to became a main course. Was he going to be alright? Or rather, would any of them? Sean fidgeted for a moment as he debated what to do, then pushed his chair back nervously and went after his son.

Mrs. Johansen left after Brian and Jo reassured her that Chad was fine and they were entirely enthralled by the trip. "That was close." Brian said.
