Olivia was glad no one noticed the squirrel running around along the outside of the crowd.  Jo's dad's speech made her stop suddenly.  Oh, a real actor you are.
Jo's was unsure if a dogs face could show shock.  But she know that such a public display of sadness would get Sam to his side in seconds.  She went over and looked into her fathers eyes to see if she could see him yelling inside.  If only I could tell you that I'm here and safe.

Kristin, whose hands are now deep in bucket of iced fish reserved for the marine mammals' meals, looks up with a start. Although she has been preparing to feed the otters, her mind has been elsewhere: primarily on how to get into contact with the animals she wants to acquire.

"Oh!" she says, face heating to a shade of red that is just shy of the streaks in her hair. She hopes her uncontrolled blush doesn't look too suspicious. "My grandmother had a heart attack yesterday. We ran straight to the hospital and stayed there with her all day." Giving a wavering smile, she adds, "She's doing better now; she's stable."

Well, it's true, she tells herself defensively, trying to reduce the flush of her cheeks.

"Well we won't want anything to happen to her," the Yeerk said to Kristen.

Kristin frowns, puzzled. Odd thing for someone to say... she thinks, but gives a polite smile. "No, she'll be just fine," she answers as she dumps another handful of fish into the small bucket she will use to feed the otters.

The last she had seen the others, they had been at the coffee shop, discussing how they would go to the zoo later. Was it possible they had been captured? How would the Yeerks have possibly known their plans? Dismissing the thought, she gives her friend a small nod and turns away to head towards the otter exhibit. She knew zoo visitors would be lined up outside; everyone liked watching the playful creatures eat.

"I wish I knew what happened last night," the controller said to Kristen.  "Someone came in and scared the animals."

"What?!" It's not difficult for Kristin to feign surprise and displeasure at the thought of someone disturbing the animals she loves so much, even if it had been caused by her new friends. "Why?" she demands, righteous indignation on her face. "What did they do? Were the caught?"

She hands the fish off to the zoo attendant who is ready to feed the otters, and then she turns to walk back with her friend to scoop up another bucketful for the other marine mammal exhibits.

"We all most caught one of the kids in the bear habitat," she said.  "But he got away."

What was Jo doing? Brian assumed that the dog sitting beside Jo's father was, in fact, Jo. People began dividing into groups of a dozen or so per group, and Brian found himself drifting into one. Search regions hadn't been assigned yet though.  He was getting anxious. He tried to avoid attracting attention, or looking in anyone's eyes.

Sean sighed. What was I supposed to say? He was frustrated by their exchange. Sean figured that since he shouldn't connect himself with Jo or her situation, he decided to not go to the barn and instead went shopping. He'd be needing some groceries if he was to be having two extra 'guests' for an extended period of time. And he had a new 'pet' as well that required a special diet....

Tarry edged along on the branch he'd perched on. He couldn't see what was going on inside the barn, and hoped nothing important was happening. He was very intrigued by the two-dimensional bird that perched atop the barn. It seemed to be standing on crossed arrows, and turned every so often, as if it was watching. Tarry couldn't see it too well, and he hoped it couldn't see him too well either....

"Wow, well I hope the police catch him soon," Kristin nods solemnly, secretly thinking it had to have been her friends. Who else would have a good reason to go into something as dangerous as a bear habitat? Course remember what you're going to be doing later, she reminds herself, the thought making her a little queasy, especially now that there are Yeerks to worry about as much as the dangerous animals, themselves.

"Let me know if anything turns up," she smiles to her friend. "I've gotta get these to the other exhibits quick. Customers are waiting." With that, she takes the two additional buckets she has filled up and hurries off towards the elephant seals. There's something she's interested in over there anyway: the pelicans.

The Sub-visser and his two body gaurds stayed together and stood by Laurence and his dog. Ultor tried not to look conspicious, tried not to look like he was the leader but it seemded impossible to him. Ultor 431 was a yeerk sub-visser, a very High Ranking sub-visser at that, and his host was a millionaire that expected to be obeyed by all subordinates. The combination was not one that inspired a look of servitude.
Ultor still needed to speak with Jazar and was becoming rather angry with him, he had demanded his attention several minutes ago and had yet to hear from him.
<He has to help with the search,> Edward said to him, <He is very busy.>
Ultor smiled to himself at his host's comment, the man was usually calm and was actually very pleasent company most of the time. <I know this Edward,> Ultor told his host, <But I still expect to be obeyed immediatly. You expected no less running your corporation.>
Edward had no response to ultor's comment and the yeerk sub-visser turned to speak to his bodygaurds.
Meh.

Jazar was in awe of the scene, those present were buying Wintiums performance.  He knew that he should get back to Ultor so he got close to his family again.  "Sorry, you were saying."

"I am a very BUSY Man Merlin, I BARELY have time for this, but I do hope we find your sister." Ultor/Edward said, he hoped that Jazar got the message. "Do you have any idea where she would be? I am rather worried for her...saftey."
Meh.

Jazar bit his lip.  "All we know is that she's not here," he said.  "And she should be here with her family.  We will not rest until we find her."
Search grids were handed to the parties.

The controller at the zoo hung back and then followed at a safe distance until an other worker stopped her to talk.

Maps were handed to each group. An woman about Sean's age who introduced herself as Shelley took the one for Brian's group (who apparently was dubbed Team D5, after their area's grid coordinates they were to cover) and told everyone to move out. It was a good distance from the farm, but fortunately, someone had a 15-passenger van for them to pile into. Brian chatted with a few of the other people, but he didn't want to really get into a big conversation. He wanted to reinforce his habit of not talking to slugs. After ten minutes or so, they arrived at a heavily wooded area. He sighed inwardly, knowing that this 'search' would be unsuccessful. He wondered how long he'd have to be out here pretending to search for his 'lost' friend. Shelley explained the search pattern they'd be using, handed out individual maps, and split the group of twelve into three groups of four. Brian's group headed off towards their subsector.

((I'm guessing if Merlin or Lawrence are in the van, maybe Sam/Jo came too...))

Tarry followed the van, though it was much faster than he could easily fly. <I am following your vehicle, Brian. Do not worry; I will remain out of sight.>

Shaun follow Brian into the group he was in then was lucky enough to get put into the same smaller group as him.
Marco: Now do you see why it's crazy to think we can beat the Yeerks? I mean, come on: We can barely beat zoo security.

Tobias: (now stuck as a hawk) They'll come. The Andalites will come. And until then...
Jake: (nods and wipes tears) Yeah. Until then, we fight.
