Our Summer Vacation...

Olivia eyed Tarry.  "I'm going to assume you don't know what that means."  She thought on the other matter at hand.  "Maybe I could come as a squirrel."


Jazar answered the door and was surprised to see his guests but feared that the visit was not a friendly one.


Jo saw Chad and Kristen at the coffee shop and come over.

"Hey Jo!" Kristin said, welcoming the girl to the table.  Kristin scanned the room to make sure no one was paying attention.  Making sure the coast was clear, Kristin whispered, "I tried morphing.  I turned into my dog.  It was amazing!"

"I morphed dog too," Jo said.  "Did the dog seem very... happy to you?"

"Well, I don't happen to have a squirrel. But... there is a pet store near the mall..." Sean left that idea hanging mid-air. He knew he wouldn't want to be a small rodent or lizard.

It was now 2:04. Brian figured that everyone should be there by now. He grudgingly pulled himself out of the most awesome massage chair on the face of the planet and stretched. He slung his black backpack over his right shoulder and walked towards the coffee shop at the far side of the mall. He saw the other kids, but neither adult, and no parrot.

Kristin saw Brian walking into the coffee shop.  She gave him a small wave, trying not to draw attention to their little group.

"I wasn't entirely convinced that I could morph myself but when I tried it, it worked.  It really worked!  The dog mind seemed really happy to me!  It was almost like nothing could stop its happiness.  Did you get that same reaction?  I morphed a husky.  What kind of dog did you morph?"

Kristin took a sip of her tea, burning her tongue on the hot liquid.

"It was strange having the dog's mind alongside my own.  I lost control for a moment which I wasn't expecting.  I guess we have to be careful about that.  And when you demorphed, were you....naked?  Because I think I found a solution to that."

"How would I acquire it though?"  Olivia asked.  "Tarry said in the car that I must be in my true form to acquire animal."


"You did?" Jo said happily and quietly.  "Wish someone tolled me that a pair of pajamas ago.  How did you do it?"

"Well, I guess it depends on if you want to risk being identified or not. Which I figure you don't...." The clock read 2:06.

"You're right about that," Ovilia said.  "I could go to the pet store as Jo but I would have to demorph at some piont."

<You should be able to go to this 'pet store' and demorph to your own form in relative safety. The yeerks do not know much about our morphing technology and it is unlikely that they would waste their limited resources on infesting someone who is a keeper of animals. Also, what is a pet?>

Ultor, still standing on the porch, gave a smile that said that he was anything but happy to see Jazar. "Is daughter home?" Ultor asked, he had read that Jazar and Sandresh lived with their host's daughter who had not been taken. "I have some upsetting questions for you that she may find...odd." The other controllers around him had their hands very near their coats. Ready to protect their leader in case Jazar went rouge.

Chad nodded towards Brian. "Here he comes. I wonder where the rest are." He couldn't help but feel an edge of worry in the pit of his stomach. What if his dad and Tarry were caught in Olivia? Surely she wouldn't be so obvious. He turned back to Kristen. "So, how can you morph and not end up naked? I'm sure we wouldn't like that to happen."

Once Brian got to the table, Kristin decided to explain how she could morph without ending up naked.  "To catch you up Brian, I found out how to morph clothing.  Last night, I kept morphing and remorphing my dog to find out what clothes were possible to morph.  I discovered that tight clothing like bike shorts, tight t shirts, leotards, etc. can be morphed.  Socks and shoes don't work though."

He doesn't know what a pet is.  Well he'll have to learn what he now must pretend to play.  "If you say so Tarry.  And a pet is animal kept by a human, like you now are, for... for... cause they like it."  Olivia began to morph.  "Let's go pet shopping."


Jazar gulped back his fear.  "Jo's out.  Something to do with her primitive radio hobby.  My host's stepdad is in the barn.  Come in."


"But a wetsuit would."  This had to have to best news she had heard since the vacation.

"Yeah!  A wetsuit could definitely be morphed!" Kristin replied happily.

Jo looked around for Mr. Black and Ms. Rush.  "Did y'all hear the news today? How they what Ms. Rush for questioning."

Kristin was shocked!  "What!  How are we going to hide her?  Do you think the people who are looking for her are Yeerks?"
