I actually rather like Cassie. She really kept the Animophs together and made sure that they were not just a group that sets to kill people but a group that sets out to kill certain people. I believe that she kept up morale. Without that, the Animorphs would have likely just done themselves in.
Last night, I laid back in my bed staring up at the stars, and I thought to myself ... I probably should fix that hole in my roof.

1.  All Animorphs save one
2. Every other character in the series
3. Cassie

But seriously:

The ending notwitstanding:
1. Marco (the comic relief)
2. Tobias
3. Rachel
4. Ax (had some great moments but overall...eh...)
5. Jake
6. Cassie (boring, preachy, annoying...I could go on)
"Well, that idea might make a stupid idea feel better about itself."
"His goat killed you?"
"I love you shovel."
"Your conscience calls you on the telephone?"

Tobias: Has a moral core without being overly annoying like Cassie.  I also found his plight to be far more interesting than any of the others.

Marco:  By a fairly wide margin the character who (to me anyway) undergoes the most interesting transformation throughout the series.  His difficulties throughout the series were also compelling.  I found myself enjoying the books narrated by him more, on average, than most of the other characters, and not because they necessarily had better story lines.  I enjoyed his perspective and narrative "voice" more than others.

Jake:  The prototypical tortured leader, but the one who bore the brunt of the difficult decisions to a far greater extent than the other characters for the most part.  I always liked him.

Rachel:  Honestly, I didn't like this character all that much, personally.  She definitely had her moments but for the most part I found her to be cold, bloodthirsty, and without compassion or sympathy.  She saw everything as completely black and white.

Ax:  Arrogant and irritating.  I actually enjoyed the books he narrated for the most part and found the character interesting and at times compelling, but I didn't like him personally.

Cassie:  What can I say that hasn't already been said.  Honestly, I wouldn't really have a problem with the moralizing if Cassie's character wasn't such a one trick pony in that regard.  Every book with her in it has more or less the same inner monolog.   She agonized over killing a freaking termite, for pete's sake.

I think mine are:

1. Ax
2. Marco/Rachel
3. Tobias
4. Cassie
5. Jake

My reasons are that Ax's books are usually full of lulz. Jake's can be a bit flat.

You would rather they all have the same cool and reserved personality? I'm not sure how Ax is too emotional. can you be a fan if you hate over half the main characters?

1. Ax - I love the way he sees, observes and explains all things human. It's quite funny.

2. Tobias - For being ready to fight the Yeerks from the very moment they have been given the power to morph.

3. Marco - (I didn't like him that much at the beginning when he used to whine about fighting all the time.) Takes nothing too seriously. But pretty smart.

4. Jake - Being able to handle every situation without hesitation is a really good quality of him.

5. Rachel - I like Rachel. What I don't like about her is she being stubborn and ****y sometimes. (like mosta the times)

6. Cassie - She's endangered the whole team in many occasions trying to stick to her of her hippie beliefs and stupid morals and ethics. She never understands that it is war and sometimes you have to play unfair.

1. Marco.
2. Cassie.
3. Jake.
4. Ax.
5. Tobias.
6. Rachel.

6. Cassie - She's endangered the whole team in many occasions trying to stick to her of her hippie beliefs and stupid morals and ethics. She never understands that it is war and sometimes you have to play unfair.

She's a vet. She loves animals. She believes in the sanctity of life. She's an idealist. And you expect her to change her entire outlook on life when she's only 13?! (OK, 16 come the end of the book.) Sure, they're all hardened warriors. But I would be at LEAST a bit worried that NORMAL 13 year olds could become such hardened warriors, adapt so well to the war when they were so young.

I think it could also be put down to the fact that Cassie has the least to lose and can most afford to NOT give up her idealism and character. The rest aren't "normal" by any means. Marco's mum is Visser One and he wants to save her (and has to deal with "killing" her over and over again). Jake only fought because he wanted to save his brother (and we all know how well that turned out in the end), and he's the leader. He can't spend time being the moral compass. Rachel was a crazy schoolgirl with a higher calling who loved to fight, and we see how she got more and more violent and occasionally lost herself to battle lust over the series (#32 was enlightening). Tobias has almost nothing to lose. People  have never treated him well (except Jake and the Animorphs). Ax... is an Andalite. He's been brought up as a warrior who believes that Yeerks are the embodiment of all evil.

Cassie is the reason the Yeerks acquired morphing power and made the war way more difficult.
