Hello there. It's been a while since I've done this--meaning I haven't been on forums like this in ages.

I know it's been a while from my original join date to my first post. I originally joined with the intention of scoping this place out for a few weeks, getting to know the people, understanding the politics unique to every forum, etc. And then I got lazy. And forgot about this place. And didn't get a chance to do any of my oh-so-carefully planned survelliance. Oh well. Does anyone want to be super duper nice to me and give me a run down of how things work around here?

With nothing to go on, I have composed this introduction post. You guys can call me greyscale_rainbow or any variation on that. I am a certain number of years old. I am female. I live in Illinois. I enjoy reading, sports, music, and writing (can't really get much more generic than that, no?) Depending on how this post is received, I might stick around here for a while. Or this could be my last post.

One last thing--I know this is an Animorphs forum. I joined this forum last summer after boredom and nostalgia combined and I found myself rereading the entire Animorphs series. Great compiliation, by the way. I, and I'm sure many others, greatly appreciate it. However, I was just wondering how much Animorphs is discussed 'round here. I'm a vet of another long running forum centered around a young adult book series, but the mere mention of the actual book series generally indicated that you were there for the wrong reasons and wouldn't really be accepted by the community. So I'm just wondering if that's the case here.

Provided you stay here long enough to get comfortable in the place, you will find that these people will, in fact, become your new best friends. I met on this forum roughly half the people I love more than the rest of the population.

As for Animorphs discussion, there is a large subforum completely dedicated to all aspects of the series, and there are separate subfora for general life topics, art and writings by members, boredom and social games to alleviate it, and text-based role-play games that center on the series and many other canon of literature, television, and film (not to mention totally original RPGs invented by members).

Come for the e-books, kick off your antigrav boots for the discussion, and stay for the friends.

We have a fairly tight and cozy little family here, and it's wonderful to new members.
The culture here is much milder than on most internet fora due to the general consensus that it's much better to be friendly and civil than to be inflammatory, profane, and generally inappropriate. The ages of our members have ranged from 11 to (if I recall correctly) the early 30's among our human members. This means that we have our share of totally unspoken 'rules', like any other forum. Fortunately, they can be summed up in one sentence: There are kids here, too, so please play nice.

But yeah, seriously, please stick around. You won't regret it.

Hey, welcome to RAF, Rainbow!  I will call you Rainbow because greyscale_rainbow is too much to type and greyscale sounds boring all on its own.  So you are Rainbow.  

We do discuss Animorphs here, there's several boards dedicated to discussion, fan art, and RPGs, but I'm pretty sure most of the forum is other stuff.  But it is a great community, albeit a strange one.

Yeah...I'm on the younger end of the scale.  But I'm 12 now.  I'm growing up.  And I'm from Illinois too!  Woohoo!

Yeah, but you really have to stick around.  I love sooooo many people on this website, it really is like a family.  A slightly insane, twisted family, but a family nonetheless.  So, yeah, stay!  You certainly won't regret it!

Yes,  as all my fellow Illinoisians know, the weather here lately has been abysmal at best and quite terrifying at worst. Although it is sunny now, yay.

the bored board is fun at times, but you don't generally get to know people quite as well (since it consists of a lot of 'spamming' games)

Welcome, Rainbow! I'm sure you'll find the forum quite to your liking! As others have said, we have a rather friendly community that discusses a variety of topics. You could spend all of your time strictly discussing Animorphs on the Animorphs Board or you could spend your time discussing other topics on the General Board. It's all up to you!

Hi Greyscale! Welcome to RAF! Plenty of other folks have already told you about what an accepting and positive community we have here, but I'd like to reiterate it: I have only been here since December, but I have met several of my best friends through this forum!

If you're the chatting sort, you should visit RAFchat and/or hang out with us on Skype. On many nights, we get Skype conference calls going, and it's a great way to get to know your fellow RAFian.

Also, if you've written any fanfiction or enjoy reading it, be sure to stop by those sections of the forum!

We're definitely Animorphs-centered here. Even though all of us may not continually engage in discussions on the Animorphs books section of the forum, you'll find we never run out of Taxxon jokes. Far from being "openly hostile," everyone here tends to be very glad to have sucked in... I mean, attracted... a new member It's nice to know that there are still Animorphs fans out there.

As for Animorphs discussion- the series isn't usually mentioned on most of the forum not dedicated to it, but if you want to reference it, nobody will even think twice. I myself make references to it pretty frequently, because I know the people here will get them, and I'm a huge dork

Hi Rainbow, I'm Tara, welcome to RAF!  I'm sure you'll find plenty of geeky Animorphs things to discuss around here--actually, it's rather hard to find something that HASN'T been discussed, analyzed, cross-analyzed, debated, and beaten to semi-consciousness with a giant wet noodle (that takes an awfully long time, you know!)

I, personally, am a big fan of the series' "BIG MORALITY QUESTIONS" and I also really love the Yeerks, wish we'd learned more about them in obsessive detail like all those other sci-fi series seem to have.  But then again, I'd probably go and learn Galard and have even less of a life

Anyway, welcome aboard, enjoy!  Also, my boyfriend (from real life) is Dave/Pez001, be on the lookout for him.  He posts once in a while, it's kind of like finding Where's Waldo after hours of squinting in dim light.  It's annoying, possibly painful, but somehow still satisfying.
