Cow morph?
« on: December 03, 2009, 04:40:53 AM »
This has been bothering me for a while, but I never thought to ask it here until now.

Why did they show ax morphing a cow and not a bull on #28? why did ax even morph a cow? it wasn't important to this plot or a later plot. it was never seen again. it wasn't even intentional, and the story would have been pretty much the same without it...

Cow and Bull are just the male and female the same species (Cattle) but they are more commonly to most people as just Cows. They probably showed Ax morphing a Cow because they are more recognisable to most people.

Because the illustrator was too stupid (or thought viewers were too stupid) to tell the difference.

I always assumed the cow morph was for a comedic value.  Nothing more, nothing less.  The illustrator probably preferred cows to bulls, or something along that line of reasoning.

I had more of a problem with Ax thinking cows were the dominant species in MM4 after he'd already said in like #8 that he used to watch MTV in school!

It's possible he forgot. The Andalites obviously didn't know a lot about Earth and Ax didn't always pay attention in class.

It's also possible he got a lobotomy, or tripped and hit his head on a rock and got amnesia. Any excuse you choose to make, it's stupid.

ETA: And besides, if he'd forgotten, how could he bring it up in the first place?

that must be why I hate the rule of funny so much. That, or I have an arrested sense of humor.

I wasn't making an excuse, merely stating the facts. I said it was possible he forgot, not that he definitely had. It's definitely not possible for him to have been lobotomised or to have received a serious head injury that we are unaware of. My suggestions were not stupid, ridiculous or outside the realm of possibility; yours were.

We also have a Modify function for a reason, please use it instead of double posting.

Actually I just don't like being insulted for having a perfectly valid opinion. And it's beneficial to you knowing about the Modify function.

Now if we can get back to the topic, while I'll admit that it's possible Ax simply didn't recall that humans were the dominant species of Earth, it's far more likely that it was a minor mistake in continuity or that it was done intentionally for comedic value.

It wasn't valid though, that was my point. THEY WATCHED MTV. They may not know a lot about Earth, but they know enough to see that cows do not normally appear on information channels.

Yeah, it was maybe a little overly sardonic, but you kind of do this a lot, where you just repeat what other people say:

I had more of a problem with Ax thinking cows were the dominant species in MM4 after he'd already said in like #8 that he used to watch MTV in school!

RULE OF FUNNY DOES NOT COVER OVERT INCONSISTENCIES!

You guys are so stringent about not double posting and staying on topic to the point where the only thing you can do in threads anymore is reiterate what has already been covered.

I know this isn't the place to do this and ban me if you want or whatever, but this system is really, really flawed.
