Jake followed Marco up the stairs. When he saw Cassie still alive and not in tears, he had high hopes that everything was alright for the moment. He walked up to her and gave her a hug. While still holding her he asked, "How's the place look?"
Jamal looked rather surprised by Jake hugging Cassie the way he did. He knew they were friends, but Jake always played it cool in school. He had somewhat hoped he could've gotten closer to Cassie by bringing her her cube; but this new development shot that down. As shocked as he was, his jealous side seeped out and he took a stance that oozed of disapproval.
Rachel came out of the basement/elevator after Jake she stayed near the other side of the living room. She had heard the entire story from Tobias while waiting in the basement/elevator. Knowing Cassie, she could assume the other side of the conversation. She averted her eyes from Tobias. She was too worried about him to do anything but want to hold him. But she had to keep her composure in front of everyone. She had to be Xena, she had to toughen up; she had play the role of concerned friend, rather than the worried girlfriend like she felt inside.
Ax followed suit and stood next to Rachel. He cared about Tobias as a team-member and ally. He would run along with Tobias often in the Forest, but they had yet to become too close to warrant being called "friend". Though he did feel the kinship of being the only alien stranded in a strange surrounding as he is now. Becoming a nothlit, Tobias made himself an alien to the rest of his species. He did sympathize, but again, he had to stay objective.
Shawn stayed back, still holding Raksha's hand, hoping Elayne would leave them alone for a moment.
