Warning: Extrapolated supposition ahead. Don't take my word for it, capisce?

Maybe morphing tech. comes from nano-tech. in the cells. The first morpher injected himself with the nanites (smaller-than-cell-robots that are self-replicating), then used the blue box to convey those nanites to the next person.

The box would act as a 'code', telling some of the nanites that is is okay to transfer to the new host. That way, they won't transfer through simple touch (thus preventing the acquired animals from becoming morphers).

Meh. Just a thought.
The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. The only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.

Here's a question:
Where would you hide the Morphing Cube Escafil Device if you could?

I think Cassie was pretty creative with her hiding.
Surprisignly, I would hide it underneath the lowest draw on me desk. Never had any problems with anyone in my family ever finding my piggie cash stashed there. And it is big enough to store a something the size of a Rubik's cube.

hmm...it'd depend on just how small it is. four inches doesn't really mean much to me. but if I knew it could be taken apart, I'd take it apart and hide each piece somewhere different.

if I didn't know, i'd hide the whole thing in the space behind my bed. You'd have to move the bed to put your hand back there.

Hmm thats a good question.

In the tv show Dexter, he hides his important things inside of an airconditioner. I think thats a pretty good hideout, unless of course it breaks down... also, you can hide things in your VCR player as not many people would ever want to use it :P

Hmm, I'd be very surprised if you watched this show, Morfowt.

Are you thinking of the same show? In one of the first episodes, Dexter puts the blood on a slide and then hides it in a box inside his airconditioner.

Basically any old electrical appliances are good hiding spots for the box, who'd think to look in an old tape player or whatever?

Where do people get the idea that an Andalite or someone morph-capable has to be touching it?
Elfangor held the box because he it was his and he was the only one who knew what it was;
Ax held the box for David because the Animorphs figured he knew how to handle it better;
Ax held the box for James and the gang because, well, leave-it-to-the-Andalite! :P

To become morphcapable anyone can just touch the box and concentrate on it.

They probably both thought it was food so they were focused on it when they touched it.

who knows? maybe David DID have the morphing power, just never acquired anything/used it until he 'got' it again from the Animorphs?

if i touched a random blue box, i certainly wouldn't think to morph. (well, maybe i would, not the average joe)

I dunno about this one, guys.
It seems out of character for an intelligent Andalite to create a piece of tech that wouldn't have appropriate security.
Even if before the Law of Seerow's Kindness, I am sure they wouldn't want to have random animals crawling on some blue surface and morphing some other random creature.
Considering it's a piece of military tech and that nothing that was said about Escafil seemed to point at him being faulty and ill-adjusted, I'd have to go with the fact that the box wasn't designed to transfer a 'piece of technology' by the act of a plain touch.

And I am of the belief that K.A. WOULD HAVE mentioned SOMETHING HAD David had the power to morph all along prior to meeting the Animorphs. I mean, like, she would have dropped a line about him 'feeling a tickle' or something when he first grabbed the box or something. Plus he had that cat and the cobra, which would have fitted perfectly fine to this plot.
As cool as it sounds as a 'twist' to the story of the 'Judas-Animorph', I'm gonna boldly state that I think it's a 'no'.

If someone with the morphing power needs to touch it, how did the Andalites use it when it was first built, and no one could morph yet?
-- J.P.

An inventor invents and an invention is an invention, I guess.  ::)

maybe the box builds up a charge after a morph capable person has touched it, cause before the buffalo and ant touched it cassie had just touched it, and then once its been sitting for too long it loses it

i personally just think 39 was a kasu but whatever, we need something to fill our days lol

Hahaha! Everything Duff said there sounds plausible to me. This smells like a K.A.S.U. to me, too.
The morph-capable person has morphing energy and the box could possibly tap into it to ignite and transfer. And yeah, I confess uni is making a maniac out of me, so I do need some sort of stimulation to preserve my mentality. Hehehehe.

then david just randomly thinking about the box would be enough to make him morphcapable, wouldn't it?
