Ah. I didn't vote. I loved Tobias, Ax and Rachel's books. Jake's were a close 'second', followed by Tobias, then Cassie.

I liked that Rachel came across perfectly in her narrations. I highly doubt she would have been a looney toon in her own head. Her 'crazy' was a total front/excuse for getting done what needed to be done.

Definitely Ax. The first book he narrated was classic.

Next up would be Marco, because he's just hilarious.

After that, I'd say Tobias, because something about how he talks about how much his life sucks just makes me feel bad. Obviously. Wait, that sounds really stupid. Oh well.

I'm not surprised at all to see no votes for Cassie. She was such a whiner, it was so annoying. Her family life was so uneventful too.

Easily Marco, followed by Tobias, and Rachel (though mostly the earlier Rachel books). I enjoy Ax's now, but I didn't like them as much when I first read the books as a kid.

Cassie and Jake... You know, it's funny, I like them as character's, but I didn't like their narrations. Cassie had a couple of good books (namely 19 and 29), but Jake... eh... I dunno. For some reason, his narration bothered me, ESPECIALLY the books that actually centered around him. The books he narrated that had little to do with him, like 26, weren't so bad, though.

My favorite is Ax, followed by Rachel and Tobias pretty much together, then Marco VERY slightly behind them, then Jake, then Cassie. Though it's pretty much almost five equal with the first five, then Cassie trailing behind.

Ax, above all the others, is my favourite narrator. :)
The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. The only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.

Ax. Quirkiness tops all in my book.
Not that Ax is naturally that way, but he's an alien stuffed in an alien planet so you get what I mean.

I would have to say Tobias was my favorite to read. Ax and Rachel were my next favorite. Marco did get some of the interesting stories though, like the discovery of the Chee.

I know a lotta people won't like me for this, but Marco is my least favourite narrator, although as a character probably my third fave. I prefer Tobias and Ax's narrations, although I like Jake's and Rachel's.
But! I realised that there a lotta books that are narrated by, say, Jake or Cassie, that don't centre on them. I like reading them, they're just missions. Unlike, say, #31 or #44. But with Tobias, there are none of those. EVERY SINGLE BOOK he narrates mostly centres on him. #3, #13, #23, #33... they all more or less centre on him.
Ax is cool though. "Yes Prince Jake. Toy! Toytoytoytoytoytoyt oy... sorry, Prince Jake."

Animorphs: The first 10 were light, funny, still innocent. But slowly, it got darker, more moral, passionate and mature. And then it was messy, bloody. It was chaos. It was the end.

It would be pretty interesting to go through the series and see the proportion of "normal dormal missions" to "intense character focus and/or it's all up to you" books for each character. Because you say Cassie didn't have a lot, and she certainly had some "normal dormal missions," but she also had the most tangential, independent plots of anyone and spent a lot of time whining how terrible the war is and how much she hated fighting.

And as far as Tobias, I agree, and I think that could have easily been remedied if the publishers hadn't made the arbitrary decision to give Tobias and Ax only 1/10 books when everyone else got 1/5. I still don't get that decision. Just to make it easy to keep track of which narrator got which books? How is that hard to keep track of, though? Anyway, if Tobias had gotten 1/6 books like everyone else, I'm sure we would have probably gotten the same amount of whining but a lot more normal dormal missions, too.
I go off topic on purpose.

I liked Marco's narrations best because he was a gift of a character and I felt like he got many of the wham books. Even when they weren't focused on the Visser One plot, they were still major (#10, #20). The only "filler" books that he got were #25 and #40, but I feel like those weren't as blatantly filler as #36 or #44 and I enjoyed reading them.

A lot of this comes down to personal preference, because if you really like Marco or think that Ax was hilarious, you're bound to enjoy their books the most.

I really liked Rachel's books early in the series and I've said why thousands of times. Cassie was my least favorite narrator because she's my least favorite character, but I enjoyed some of her better books like #29.

I also don't think that Tobias and Ax can be considered because they had half as many books. The only book I didn't like of Tobias' was #3, I can't decide which of his was his best because they all have his shining moments. Ax is also difficult to think about in this context because he goes back and forth between comic relief (#28) and being super-serious (#46). I think that's WHY people like Ax and while he's not as fun to read about for the younger crowd, once I read his books when I was older I LOVED them.

As for Jake, some of his books were EPIC (#26, #31) and some of them seemed kinda wasted. #36 is easily his worst and if it wasn't so early in the series, #11 would be up there too (it was too early in the series to really be considered filler). The scene in the Amazon where ants are devouring Rachel in grizzly morph is scary for that early in the series. I actually think that a lot of early Animorphs is pretty dark, but anyways...

It all comes down to who you like and who has the books with the best plots and characterizations. Rachel's characterization was inconsistent and Cassie got bad plots (#44 was obvious filler, #34 was badly-written, #39 could've been better, etc.), so that's why I think they don't get a lot of votes.
