in fact, of all the species in the animorphs world that I hate most, the andalites come second. and are only beaten by the helmacrons.

Yeah once the andalites planned on destroying earth in an attempt to destroy the yeerks I started disliking them quite a bit though I only felt that way because it was against earth I didnt seem to mind them attacking other creatures controlled by yeerks throughout the series. Moral debates, they just get so confusing

Yeah I admit that certain Andalites got damn annoying as the series went on, but remember that the Andalite public had no idea what the military was planning. In fact, I'd bet that most of the military didn't know about the plan to destroy Earth either. So it was just a few of the higher up guys in the military that were to blame.

The Andalite military sucks. I'm sure they aren't all that arrogant and deceitful, though. Surely some civilians are good?

Well Elfangor and Ax turned out well, and the two Andalites who crashed on Earth (book 40) were decent guys. Also mentioned in book 33 when Tobias first morphs Ax, is that Andalites are optimistic by nature. This suggests that they are naturally a peaceful race, and that the arrogance has been brought on by years of war (and guilt due to them accidentally starting that war).

The Andalite Chronicles supports this when it says that Alloran used to be a friendly person who used to make people laugh, but he was hardened by war.

theyre good beings as a whole, but everyone has their darkside, I would assume that most of the civillians unaware of the trials of war are a tad less arrogant then the warriors :]

Marco pointed out in Book 54 that Andalite civilians are slightly less arrogant than their military dudes. Although Marco could be sarcastic at the time.... =P

that made my day really.

yeah thats the problem with marco, i always wonder if hes being serious or not.  The impression i got for that line was that they were about | | that much less arrogant :]

I just read #54 (because I was bored) and marco says that andalite civilans are more decent. His exact words were:
Quote
Andalite civilians are about three degrees more humble and lovable than the Andalite warriors we'd always met.
although I'm not quite sure how much three degrees is...

@Espilin:

It's okay to let it be my sig temporarily, right? At least until I get a real one...  :P

Anyway, I think Marco was pretty sarcastic. I bet it isn't much of a difference, except that unlike warriors, the civilians are a tad more trusting....

yea the optomistic nature seems to be contradictory to everything else we know about andalites, i guess because of the trouble it got them into maybe they feel ashamed about it or something, so the warriors compensate by being arrogant

maybe its that civilian andalites dont really have interaction with other species, i assume, seeing as how its so difficult for the yeerks to infiltrate the homeland i always assumed things were locked up pretty tight, and i cant really see them trading with another species and admitting that they can do something better than them haha

Has anyone heard about the animorph chronicles being put into 3 separate books. I heard there were specials versions for a book club and I wanted to see the covers they made for them.
