Project AM - Concept Art, Scripts and More
« on: March 07, 2009, 09:59:49 PM »
The plan for Project AM was to create a wiki where fans could collaboratively work on the movie, and I'd post up everything we'd done so far and let everyone have at it. But that's been delayed a little bit so I think it would be a good idea to post all this stuff I have on my computer into this thread.

EDIT: Read the screenplay here!

These were done by various artists. I like some of them better than others. This is more of an "everything I have" thread than a "best of Project AM" thread.

Marco.

That's supposed to be Tobias.

The script we wrote has the first shot as an aerial view of the city that sort of swoops down, cel-shaded style, to a suburban street and zooms into Jake's window as he's getting ready for school. This is my mediocre depiction of said street.

This is Marco. I am terrible at drawing faces, but I did all the art in the teaser trailer (which I guess I will post up on YouTube soon). So I created this Poser model and traced over him (adding long hair) to make Marco.

Infestation

Disembodied heads against a black background so that we could do tests with morphing software.

Keep in mind that I was in 8th grade when I drew this in Flash. It's supposed to be the aftermath of the Yeerk pool explosion (hence the Exxon sign that was conspicuously mentioned in #53), made as part of an animated Flash music video that was a precursor of sorts to Project AM.

To answer many frequently-asked questions, this was a model rendered in Poser and has no relation whatsoever with the art style we were going to use in the finished film. It was just a teaser to get people excited and hopefully entice artists to want to help out on the project.

So the idea here was to publicize the movie on the Web with spinoff websites sort of in the vein of an alternate reality game. (This was around 2005, long before The Dark Knight brought ARGs and viral marketing mainstream.) So this is an actual screenshot of a Flash website for The Sharing that I mocked up.

This spinoff site was inspired by the "Yeerk Watch"-style webpage in #16.

More to come...

Woah, some of those drawings are way excellent. Cassie, Jake, Marco, Rachel, and Tobias are all awesome, and I really like the 3D/cell shaded rendering stuff.

LOL @ the Spice Girls and Hanson. Oh the 90s... :P

Long time no see Josh, glad to see you kept the Project going. Don't know if you remember me, I originally signed up to help with the script writing, but didn't have time to work on it due to way too much assignment work at the time.

I uploaded the screenplay we wrote to Scribd... now you can read the whole thing! It's 100+ pages, so be warned:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/13159437/ANIMORPHS-The-Invasion-Begins

There are some minor formatting errors but it's still totally readable. I remember getting really positive reviews from everyone who had read it at the time... if they weren't lying to us, I think you guys will enjoy it.

(For anyone wondering: "V.O." means "voiceover" and "O.S." means "off-screen".)
