Did I forget to mention that part too? That was a surprise. Also, Tobias telling Jake that excluding Cassie from a meeting afterwards was beyond wrong. I'm like, excluding her is about the least he could have done. Was the betrayal just lost on everyone in the team except Jake and Ax?

When I read Ellemist Chronicles, and it mentioned someone dying, I thought it would be someone on thier death bed. Dying of old age. Even when it was written "It started with six (even though it technically didn't), and it will end with five." I didn't want to believe anyone would die and stay dead.

Cassie's betrayal definitely confirmed that the girl put emotions above common sense. Which is often considered better in series, though it actually isn't. I read something online that there's a term for it. Du aux something, or whatever.

Interesting. Irrational X Rational, very subjective.
But I am interested in reading about Du aux or whatever there...

There's one thing called du aux machina. I don't know what it means, but bringing that word up on wikipedia might help get you to the right place.

I remember one. I don't remember completely, but it was during mm2 just before jake yelled stampede. I don't know why but I was completely lost about what was going on...

Are you thinking of deus ex machina?  I don't know if that really describes what Cassie did very well though.  I think of it more as, for example, the Ellimist's intervention in the series, or the end of #41.

Not really. I was just using that as an example, because I don't know what the other is called. The other one is where you have someone taking a choice based on feelings over logic, and somehow everything turns out ok, somehow proving that trusting feelings over logic is best. Even though in reality it isn't.

Like when she handed over the cube. It could have gone so wrong, though some good things did happen. However, it was still a bad choice.

not really. I was more worried about tobias messing up and letting Aria/Visser 3 find out...

I read book 15 before book 5, so alas, the whole Eva thing didn't really surprise me. And before that I think I'd only read book 2, so... yeah. It was probably one of the first things I learned about Marco.

I think Elfangor being Tobias's father was one of the best moments. The kind that gave you tingles up your spine when you read it for the first time. Ax knocking out Jake and stealing the plane with the bomb was a surprise to me. I never thought Ax would take it that far.

Finding out the Animorphs were the reason that the comet killed the dinosaurs was a bit of a shock. There were a lot of suprising moments.

But I don't think Rachel dying was the biggest surprise. I read the books as they came out, so I spent a lot of time debating in chat rooms about which animorph was going to die when the teaser that one animorph wasn't going to make it was released. Most agreed the story was being set up that Rachel would not make it, what with the other characters said about Rachel. They were sure she was the one who needed the war and except Tobias they were concerned what would happen to her if it all ended.

Of course, guessing this didn't make it any better when she died... ::tear::
