(( O.O Dang, no kidding.))

Tamora listens over the com link as shredder and dracon fire is exchanged and finally silenced with a human cry that can only be one person.

"Cody!" Tamora cries, gripping the side of the console as though she can push herself through the computer and onto the deck of the Mirage. A long silence punctuates the entire cabin.

"Computer, hail Mirage!" Tamora says desperately. The computer does not respond since there is already an open link with Ossanlin's ship. With wide eyes Tamora tries to manually open a connection, but that fails as well.

"No!" She whirls away from the screen, her eyes falling on Myitt. With a sharp intake of breath she realizes that she is very much alone with the hostage, and she is entirely unsure how to handle it.

Finally Claxter decided that he needed to know what was going on. He hailed the Mirage. Unfortunately, no one answered. That just made him worry more, so he hailed Cody's ship. He at least wanted to know that Myitt was safe. Surely a Human controller couldn't defeat a War Prince. He waited for Tamora to answer.

Myitt looks up from her steady, blank stare down at the fighter's metal floor.  She doesn't even have time to see or react to Mar's sudden flicker of appearance.

Her gaze meets Tamora's.

"He's dead," she says quietly, sure of it.  "Ossanlin.  And for what?  So a selfish human girl and her murderous lackey can feel better about themselves."

---

Corliss coughs on the billowing smoke.

"Computer!" he yells.  "Activate emergency fire containment protocol!"

((Great. Mar's unbelievable bullheadedness might cause me to lose both my characters. Might just have Keshin contact Myitt from his ship when the fire dies down. For kicks. X) And poor Ossanlin. O.O))

Mar's eyes suddenly widen in shock as he catches his breath from the teleport. Something...somethi ng terrible is about to happen right now. Something almost as awful as Myitt dying. And he was not there. And he couldn't do a thing about it. But for some reason, some force is keeping Ossanlin alive on this plane. His friend is either frozen or in incredible pain.

Mar slams his fist on the grass in front of him, shaking. His eyes have long since gone a peculiar, fiery red. He turns to Elayne and glares harshly. "Ever since I have entered this Bar, I have been able to do nothing. Instead of the glorious Highest I am, I have become a weakling fool unable to fight or to save anyone he may care for. I just recieved notice that Ossanlin is nearly dead again. I was wrong to leave his side."

He then closes his eyes stating, "All I can do now is attempt to save my Precious. That's all. Just...save her life."

Mar in response vanishes and appears on the ship this time, rather close to Myitt. Focus seems to have allowed him to make it inside. But who is he kidding? He has no idea whether or not he can actually bring another person with him. Let alone fight the hostage-taker, who is apparently in front of him. Mar glares at Tamora, putting his hand on Myitt. "Let us go in peace. I do not have time for this insanity at all."

(Question. If Tamora screams, would Sukohn be able to hear her even with Cody being unconscious? Is communication still up during lockdown? Though even if Cody woke up, there would be nothing he could do besides maybe talk to tamora.)

Tamora almost drops her Dracon Beam in surprise when Mar simply appears on board the ship.  She takes an involuntary step backwards, running into the computer console and nearly losing her balance.

"Who are you?" She demands, trying to recover her composure. Steadying herself she dials the Dracon Beam up to a higher setting - a much more deadly setting - and shifts her aim from Myitt to Mar.

((I can't remember if Mar and Tamora have interacted before. If they have and I've forgotten just pretend Tamora said "What are you doing here?" instead of "Wo are you?" and I'll change it when I get home today.))

((I don't know if Sukohn would be able to hear anything or not with Cody unconscious.  The channel has remained open, but any noises I assume would be sort of like a comatose person hearing a person talking to them..like maybe dreamlike?  Though even if Cody regained consciousness, the repressor field is designed to restrict all physical movement.  It's problematic at best as it stops bleeding but does not repair any damage.  The ship's on lockdown so I don't know...I guess Mar might be able to do his teleport trick in, or Myitt could hack it knowing enough about the ship to do so...but otherwise I guess our characters are stuck.

As for the fight...let me put it this way, if it had been Temrash fighting Oss instead of Sukohn, I think the fight would've been fair and Temrash would've had just as much of a chance at winning as Oss since he's highly trained and has a Hork-Bajir host.  But do you really think it would've been likely for a human controller in a foreign ship whom is currently covered by two shredders with no weapon drawn to beat an alert, combat-trained andalite War-Prince with a lightning-quick tail in close quarters without any natural defenses?  Either Oss would've had to have been completely and totally incompetent or Sukohn would've had to have been some kind of master combatist whom was more powerful than Temrash...Ossanlin isn't weak.  If a simple human-controller could beat him in that set of circumstances he wouldn't even deserve his rank and should be forced to retire to an invalid's home on the Home World, because that's where he would belong.))

Myitt recoils at Mar's sudden appearance, inching away from him as best as she can with her hands behind her back.

"What...what?" she gasps.  "Mar?  How did you...?"

<Come on! Someone tell me what is going on! I need to know!> Claxter yelled. Tamora wasn't picking up, and he really didn't know what to do. Was Myitt already dead? Why wasn't his Prince answering him?

(I guess it was asking too much for Sukohn to really win over Oss. Just having a draw would be more than enough. I fear I have done Claxter really wrong, and am thinking about having him run away again. Though since I like him, I'll have him pass into another dimension where time passes quicker, and have him return to the bar some pages later and five years older. Buff, cold natured, and unhesitantly ruthless. He may be able to revert back with help, though.)

((Chad, I agree with Luke. I don't think it would be possible for Sukhon to beat Ossanlin, unless he was on speed. And also Jet Li.

Regarding your idea for sending Claxter into another dimension, do what you want, but it sounds to me like a cop-out way of turning him into the character you want him to be. I'd prefer Elayne to be less of a romantic softy, so it's something I'm trying to gradually work towards. It might take several hundred pages, but if it happens, it will happen naturally and in character, in accordance with the situations she's put in. Claxter can also mature, but is sending him through a spontaneously-appearing warp-hole and into a battle really the most believable way to do it? I feel like it would dishonor his character to snap your fingers and change him into someone with entirely new traits over the course of a few pages. Role playing and character development are hard, and the more investments of time, attention, and detail we put into them, the better the output can be.))

<<I disengaged the ship's verbal controls,>> Tora tells Corliss wearily, apologetically, as she continues to morph. She is relieved when her injured leg is sucked into her body; the pain is finally gone, now replaced by the uncomfortable but familiar sensation of organs shifting, sprouting, and disappearing.

Elayne bites her lip as Mar appears and vanishes again. She doubts feeling bad for him is at all what he wants, but she can't help herself. He seems lost here, and she wonders how much of it is due to her.

She will leave him be, she resolves, when this fiasco is over... as much as she can manage it, anyway. He needs to spend time with his true Precious, needs to remember why he was here in the first place. And she? She has her own work to accomplish.

Tamora, still watching Mar with a mixture of awe and fear at his sudden appearance does not notice the small light blinking on the holographic monitor, alerting her to an incoming communication.

((Sorry, I missed it when Claxter opened the link. I'll have her get it once she has a reason to look back at the computer.

Also, I agree with Marie about Claxter. He's turned into the character he is now as a result of the situations he's been put in at the bar. That's natural character development, which is essential. I don't necessarily like Terenia as a person, but the situations she's been in over the years of role-playing her has made her the person she is today. to erase that would be a diservice to her character.))

Mar gasps, drawing in breath heavily. He's conscious and unharmed, which means he's at least getting marginally better at handling what powers he has left in this body. This is good for him, because he can't afford to get captured himself. Mar winces when Myitt edges away from him and tries to get closer. If he plans to leave with Myitt, they must be touching. He's not sure it'd work otherwise. Actually, he's not sure it'll work in general.

Mar glares up at Tamora. "So you are the one who has endangered my Precious. Let us go in peace, and I will leave you alone. Attempt to hurt Myitt or myself, and I will cause you great pain dead or alive. Do not underestimate me."

This was pretty much bull****. If Tamora shot him nearby or in the Bar, then it would take forever to draw himself back in. He might get revenge, but it wouldn't be as immediate as he was implying. And if he shot first, he might kill her but he'd also kill himself. He had to try. He could only hope her fear of what he just did outweighed her loathing of Myitt.

When the strange human appeared I jerked and started growling I made sure I put myself inbetween Tamora and the newcomer. My hackles rose and I continued to growl.
