"Good," says Myitt, connecting the wires to Cody's ears as soon as he and Sukohn are sedated. She is too distracted, and just plain too guilty, to make eye contact with Tamora. "Just as long as he doesn't die." She sits down on the opposite gurney and her eyes track as she views Sukohn's memories. "We will have to perform the second memory wipe on Cody with Sukohn removed from his body," she says as her eyes glass over, staring at nothing. "Should be fun," she says dreamily, stepping into the moment when Sukohn and Cody first heard about the identities of the human bandits, then a bit further back, when he first met Elayne and Keshin. This would eliminate all possibility of him getting the idea to ask them for the same favor.
<Say 'sayonara',> she says, and the memories blur under her feet as they are wiped from the chemical recesses of Sukohn's stored memory centers. Everything up until the present moment.
When it is finished Myitt groans and blinks a few time, her eyes red from...well, not blinking. She rubs at them irritably, squinting, and then gently unhinges the wires a second time. She hops off the gurney and disconnects the wires from Sukohn, watching as they snake, oozing, out of Cody's head.
"Okay," she breathes, standing back. "Okay. Sukohn, you're going to have to leave your host, or I'll have to drag out out of there." Myitt glances sidelong at Ossanlin. "If that's morally acceptable."

Corliss is still facing away from Terenia, gazing back at the ship. He sighs, waiting for them to leave.
"What is taking them so long?" he says to himself, kicking at some of the gravel beneath Mike's feet.
