"The god-damned gun is set to stun," Terenia says, scowling, "I'm not killing anybody and I wasn't aiming it at anybody either. And by the way, I didn't ask for your help. Why does everyone at this place think they have to help me? I'm sick to death of being helped!"

She still does not lower her weapon, not trusting whatever it is that The Director is wielding. She looks at Parker briefly, shaking her head ever so slightly. She has no doubt that the large Spartan could do The Director harm, but she also has no doubt that should anything happen it will ultimately get blamed on her.

"I think it's your host the Andalites are trying to help, more than you. Although I may be wrong about Ossanlin. I personally don't care either way. Why do you have the dracon out anyway? Who are you planning to shoot? Or do you think one of them will attack you?"

"That's a very distinct possibility," Terenia says icily, "I prefer to be protected should such a thing happen. Something I would think a bar full of heavily armed warriors would understand."

"Fine. Keep it out then. Just don't shoot Myitt, on stun or not. Otherwise you'll find yourself waking up somewhere else."

Terenia was already causing his mood to darken. This was supposed to be a nice reunion. He walked over to Corliss.

"Okay. Tell me what I missed that has Terenia on edge, Corliss."

(Have an idea for something, but I'll wait until things settle.)

Fletcher watched other patrons of the bar going to do something, but he wasn't too concerned over what was happening. He had alienated himself in his own universe, now he'd alienated himself amongst his crew. Though he figured in time things would go back to somewhere near normal. Fletcher knew, however, that things would never be the same.

Meanwhile, while Gaz was explaining the situation to Keshin, Andromeda sat and listened while keeping a supportive hand on Morgan's arm.

Parker gives Terenia a slight nod showing he understands. Tricky as the situation is, he stopped his progress just in range for his sword's pull. If she changed her mind, he could be by her side containing any situation in the blink of an eye.

The Director lolls his head about in frustration, "Well it wasn't set to stun to start, now was it? And it doesn't matter if you want help or not, you've got it." With those words, he spins his flashlight on his open palm and grips it facing back at him. He replaces it in his coat pocket and stands straight again. He gives her a smile and says, "Now, since you aren't going to kill anyone, nor were you ever going to, you won't mind putting away your weapon. Yes the armed warriors within would agree, but how many of them have their weapons drawn and prepared to fire?"

Parker sees the man put whatever he had in his pocket, and he relaxed his own stance. He put his sword's hilt back on his hip and resumed his slow approach.

Terenia's scowl deepens, but she reluctantly lowers her Dracon Beam, keeping her wary gaze on The Director.

<Put it away,> Efaen instructs in the back of her head.

<But->

<You will have time to use your weapon later, should the need arise. Clearly you are at an impasse. Put your gun away.>

<Fine.> Terenia growls, replacing the Dracon in its holster roughly. She keeps her right hand positioned at it's hilt, ready to draw again if necessary, and fixes The Director with a glower. "Happy?"

Corliss looks up at Temrash, a bit startled.

"Dunno, mate.  Looks like that Director fellow's got her hackles up," he says evasively, turning away from Temrash and looking up at the Mirage again.  The little holoscreen hovers around to settle about face level, as if eager for attention.  Corliss taps at it and it vanishes.

---

"Hang on a minute, it isn't exactly like switching on the kitchen light," Myitt calls, connecting the newly sterilized probes to herself once more.  "Ossanlin, can you please sedate him?  I don't want him pulling these things out in mid-stream."  Her tone belies her agitation, although now it is more at the risk of performing multiple memory wipes within the span of a few minutes than her earlier troubles.

The Director fixes a serious gaze at Terenia, somewhat puzzled, "Yes, but who do I thank?" He moves in and puts his face directly in front of hers, looking into her eyes. He brings his head back looking at her face, then forward again, looking into her eyes. He backs up a bit and says, "Either way, thank you. Both of you. Besides, if you are looking for protection, I'm sure your soldier friend behind me would be happy to help. You didn't seem too mad at having him as back-up."

Parker straightens as he's mentioned by the stranger. He walks up to both of them and asks Terenia, "Who is this?" He turns to the man, "How did you know I was behind you?"

The Director smiles, "Well, to be honest, I didn't know exactly it was you, just that there was someone behind me that she was communicating signals to."

"I don't need anyone to protect me," Terenia jerks away from The Director as he invades her personal space. "He volunteered. Now please, go away. I'm sure someone over there -" she gestures vaguely in the direction of Corliss, Elayne and Temrash, "-would be much more interested in your help."

Ossanlin takes a deep breath and trots back to the med-bay, taking out the same ampoule he used on Derrel, dialing up a larger dose.  <At higher levels, this drug will slow movements, at maximum it will paralyze muscles including the heart.  This dosage will induce you and your host with a feeling of lethargy rather than peace.  Your movements will be slow and your body less responsive than normal.  The effects wear off with time.>  Ossanlin holds the spray ampoule up to Cody's neck and presses the activation button.

The Director slipped past the tall armored soldier and stood beside Terenia, "Nope, I'm invested now. I'd like to see what's inside. Especially what's in there." He points to the ship.

Parker just stays where he is. He doesn't want to leave Terenia's side. His curiosity about the stranger and the contents of the ship also kept him in place.

Inside the medbay Tamora does not comment when Myitt enters, finding that she has no words for the Yeerk. She waits until the Andalite enters before speaking, her voice scarcely above a whisper.

"Are we there then?"

---

Terenia frowns, turning slightly away from The Director as though doing so will remove his presence. She returns her focus to the ship, realizing that Corliss is really much closer to where the hatch will open than she is. In her current position those who exit the ship will have their backs to her, and will not be visible until they have fully descended the ramp.

"Great," she mutters, trudging past The Director and Parker without a glance in their direction. She walks halfway around the ships perimeter, coming to a stop about ten feet away from Corliss, Elayne and Temrash. She does not dare move any closer, her stomach tying itself into tight little knots even at this proximity.

When Terenia walks off, both The Director and Parker follow. The Director settles in right next Terenia wordlessly. Parker walks further behind the two. He doesn't want to leave Terenia, but he also wants to keep an eye on the man beside her.

((Welcome back, Time Cops! :P ))

Keshin nods quietly, listening to the story that Gaz's crew has told him. "So you mean that he never mentioned it at any time of his own volition? You only got it out of him because you found out he was a cyborg? I..."

Keshin stares off slightly. "...I guess I can understand why he wouldn't want to tell people he considers his friends about this. If you really are his friends. But I still think what he did was wrong."

Keshin looks up rapidly at the sound of a ship landing and sits up out of his barstool. He then peers out the nearest window. The Mirage appears to have landed after all. Joanne takes control during Keshin's pause and grins widely. <So Myitt made it out after all. Guess we'll see her inside.>

<Is Myitt's survival really a good thing for us?>

<You know you love her too, Kess. You said so yourself.>

<.....>

Before Mar can formulate his response, he hears a rather loud sound coming from outside the Bar. He knows this sound. It's the sound of a ship landing. Mar rapidly runs out of his seat and out towards the Mirage. His expression is almost giddy. She survived. So did he. Nothing happened!

Mar then comes to stand beside Corliss and Elayne, looking up at the ship. His grin is unmistakable as he looks at Elayne. It's a very alien expression coming from him. "You were right, sweetie. The ship is safe. I was so terribly worried about them all. Do we know if they have all lived through the trip and if they were successful?"
