Temrash found a table away from the crowd, and cleared off the dirty table.

"So, I guess this is the part where we make idle chat as we enjoy the atmosphere." He said after sitting.

"Thordon's just inside the Bar somewhere," says Keshin with a bit of a shrug. "He doesn't seem to do much other than sit around and sleep, but he's pretty nice. You could get him to move the ship for you. No problem. And as long as your buddies don't come back, I don't have a problem with it either. As for Joanne..."

Joanne then smirks, tilts her head, and causes her posture to slump. "Nah boyo, us hosts are still here. It's why the whole deal can get real creepy if you don' like your new boss. Kess and I share the body, with me gunnin' and him wordin' stuff right. An' gettin' us bloody jobs. Doubt Imperial hotshots'd like me much."

Corliss smiles, looking down at the floor.  "No, I didn't just 'wake up' and turn my life upside-down," he says.  "I suppose the dissent was always present, but there's simply no outlet for freedom of expression in the Empire.  If you disagree with its core beliefs, with enslaving sentient creatures for your own benefit...well.  The other options aren't very pleasant.  Exile is almost a blessing, if you have the connections to keep surviving outside of the Empire.  It also helped that I had close friends and siblings who agreed with what I was feeling and hiding for so much of my life."

He shakes his head.  "I fight the Empire for the same reasons I assume you do, in spite of my belief in the inherent goodness of my species...so many of us want a way out, and they don't have that opportunity.  Even those of us who remain imprinted with the Council's outdated dogma, there are many good Yeerks who just don't know how to break out of our government's oppressive cycle.  Conquest after conquest.  Is it so strange that there are Yeerks who don't agree with taking involuntary hosts, or who disagree with the war?  Who, like some humans and some Andalites, tire of the death of their friends?"

Salem smiled as Parker made fun of his verbal slip-up, and as he shook Parker's hand, he said, "Parker. I'll try to remember that. Nice to meet you."

He then listened, slack-jawed for a moment, as Joanne began to speak, and then smiled as she finished. He stuck out his hand towards Keshin. "Glad to meet you too. Both of you, I guess. Joanne, and... Kess, was it? I could go for a second mind sometimes. I've just got Al." He rolled his eyes, then grinned "I think I like you better when you're not holding me up. You said... Thordon? would be inside? I think I could go for a drink, anyway."

Parker tilted his head at Salem's mention of "Al". He asked, "And who's Al?"

Salem glanced at Parker and tilted his head to match. "Al's... an A.I. that I've been working with for a while. And an insane one at that. Formerly of Furka, so that's not surprising. He's been my only real companion since I left home."

Joanne nods in response to Salem's comment. "Yeah, four-armed guy's probably just sittin' around again. He shouldn' be too difficult to rouse. And it's interestin' that you got yourself such a lively A.I. Most A.I.s are a real bore. And sure, we'll go for a drink."

Joanne then turns to wander into the Bar with Parker and Salem. "So you're from out-universe, Salem? Otherwise you couldn' be a spacefarin' human in this area and not know what Yeerks were. Their ships are all around my Earth."

Salem stopped dead in his tracks at the mention of "out-universe."

"Parallel Earths? You're aware of the existence of other universes? Where... am I?"

Maybe someone here has what I'm looking for, he thought.

Parker answered, "No one really knows. This place seems to exist in every universe in every moment in time. In my universe, it's the 26th century and humans have colonized hundreds of planets. we too have created Artificial Intelligence."

Parker held out his opened hand palm upward. In his hand appeared a hologram of a man. His skin and clothing consisted of a transparent blue code constantly running up and down his body. His clothing was from ancient Norse mythology, animal skin shorts, shoes, and shirt. The man was kneeling on one knee and leaning on an up-side down, over sized hammer with a shortened handle. The man stood up in Parker's hand to its full height of 7". He placed the hammer on his shoulder and spoke. The voice came from Parker's speakers, "Greetings, I am Thor."

Salem grinned as Thor appeared. "There really is a lot more to you guys than meets the eye, isn't there?" He asked Parker. Turning to Thor, he said, "Glad to meet you, Thor."

"So," he muttered, half to himself, "maybe my ending up here had nothing to do with there being too much Hope..."

Parker responded to salem's half question, "You have no idea." Though one couldn't see past his visor, Parker's smug half-smile could be heard in his tone of voice as he spoke. When Salem commented to himself, Parker explained, "No, there's very few that were brought here for a reason. The reason I ended up here is because my SlipSpace engine malfunctioned and sent me here. I was about to drift through space endlessly before I saw this place. It was a miracle I landed here when I jumped ship. A few degrees the wrong direction, and I would've missed this place and drifted through space anyway, except without a ship. I know a soldier that was flying through The Bermuda Triangle and crashed here." Parker looked around at the vacant parking lot and said, "How about we head inside? It's too quiet out here."

"Sounds like a plan," said Salem, shaking his head to clear it and walking for the door. "I guess you could say I'm from out-of-universe, yeah," he replied, grinning, finally recovering from his shock enough to answer Keshin. "This... SlipSpace of yours. Do you know how similar it is to what the Andalites call Zero-space?" he asked as he stepped through the door and looked around at the customers. Most of them seemed to have returned to drinking and socializing since he was last in here, and he thought there were more of them now. He winced at seeing the shattered windows near where he'd been. "Bartender! Can I get... ah, just water for now."

Elayne frowned as Trey's conversation with the Director seemed to take a less pleasant turn, based on what she could read of the boy's facial features. Still, she wouldn't do his budding backbone any favors by swooping in to her rescue, no matter how much the Director irritated her or she felt protective of Trey.

Instead, she looked towards the door, watching as a new face entered with Parker and Keshin. Her frown remained solidly on her face at the sight of Keshin; she didn't hold their earlier... problems... against him, but she was certainly wary of him now. "And this place just keeps getting more crowded," she nodded in response to Mar, glancing at him then taking a sip of her beer.

"Seems like Terenia and Corliss've been gone a while now," she murmured. "I hope they didn't get caught up with all those Yeerk troops earlier."

Belzar noticed the person reenter the bar, and felt a bit awkward. Obviously there were many eople looking for him, so why was he coming back in? Or did he not care? Did Belzar have the right to make a scene about it?

Parker let his hand fall to his side, but thor's hologram stayed in place. Thor began to explain as they made their way to the bar, "No, Slipspace is completely different. Z-Space is actually a tangible place that exists alongside real space. Slipspace isn't really any kind of space at all. What happens is particle accelerators rip apart normal space-time by generating micro black holes. Those black holes then evaporate due to Hawking radiation."

As they enter the bar, Parker says, "Let's grab a table near the door." He grabs hold of a chair and spins it so only half of his legs are under the table. He sits down and surveys the room instinctually while watching Salem get his drink.

He hears a strange sound behind him and turns to look. He sees the glass that littered the floor begin to melt and crawl toward the window. It traveled upward and reformed the windows as though they had never broken. Parker shakes his head in wonderment and quickly remembers the hole in the roof he had created when he fell from Khazrak's hound's death. The roof was completely intact as though nothing had happened to it. Parker felt a dark turn in his stomach and muttered, "This place..."

When he settled again, he saw Silver in the distance next to her family. He gave her a single wave of acknowledgment. He didn't want to ask her to leave her family, and he didn't want to abandon his new "friend".

((Al, you can control the bartender, just keep in mind that he's a rather surly character and never talks.))

The Director shook his head disappointed. This human was so frustrating. He rubbed his forhead a moment trying to think of a way to better reach this limited child. He says, "Okay, so how do expect to do that exactly? You can't carry on your father's work if you're sittin' here on your arse in a pub. Besides, by what I've heard, half of your species has already been changed for good. Which do you think would be more effective; going to a planet that's only a fraction as strong and even more weak in morale, or going back when they're already strong and boosting that strength? You're a defeated, depressed, weak human. What good can you do by returning to a planet filled with defeated, depressed, weak parasites? Unless you've got a ****e load of strong hosts to bring back with yourself, the only thing you're going to do is add one weak body to their ranks of the defeated. But if you go back when they were still strong and a threat. If you go back when they had hope. if you go back when they had that might your father spoke of. Well then you'd have a chance. Then you could do some real good."
