Fletcher had gone to his quarters to get a change of clothes. Things had gone wrong on that latest mission. He usually didn't do things like that. He was the one who stayed behind to take care of the engine room or the technical things. But he felt that he had owed Morgan something for taking him on his ship.

"Gotta make this up to them," Fletcher said as he pulled a clean shirt over his head, covering up the offending tattoo.

That tattoo. One of these days, Fletcher promised himself he would get Asda to remove it. If that were possible.

Parker saw friendly movement on his motion sensor, "Looks like the verdict is in." He turned and walked bck into the med bay. Fletcher was missing. Parker didn't want to make any assmuptions, so he asked, "So what was the ruling?"

"He stays," Morgan replied. "He explained everything. Turns out it was a similar situation to Asda's. Learned enough that changed his mind. But the fact that he kept it from us all this time....it's going to be a while before he builds that trust back up."

"If there's nothing going on outside," Gaz said, "we were gonna head over to the bar and get a long overdue drink."

Parker nodded in understanding, then reported, "The soldiers are beginning to regroup and retreat. A ship took off from one of the craters. They're chasing after it. The way should be clear."

Corliss leans on the pool, resting his hands on the metallic edge.

"What are you going to do, then?" he asks Efaen.

"Great," said Gaz as she started out, "I could sure use a drink."

Morgan held out a hand to help Andromeda stand on her feet. "We'll meet you over there," Morgan said, "I'm going to take Andromeda to get some fresh clothes."

"Got it," said Gaz and walked out.

She stuck her hands in the pocket of her long blue jacket as she left the ship and crossed the way to the bar. It seemed like it had been ages since she was last in there.

Gaz walked into the bar and up to the bartender.

"Good to be back!" she said as she slapped some money onto the counter. "Rum."

At Gaz's slap of the bar, Thordon looked to her and said, "Welcome back Captain. I trust your venture was successful?"

Efaen shrugs, a dark look crossing her face. She turns away slightly and when she speaks again it is with a not-so-subtle change of subject, <Why is it that you claim to be on our side? This rebellion of yours, if it actually exists, why does it exist? What made you decide to abandon the rest of your species? It all seems rather un-Yeerkish.>

---

Trey flushes, a distinctly uncomfortable look in his eyes. He glances behind him and notices that Elayne and Mar have returned, and look more coupley than ever. Elayne looks more relaxed than he has seen her.

"It's...selfish," Trey admits with a sigh, "but...what happened happened. It's in the past. I can't help but think that it happened that way for a reason. Yeah, I mean, it sucks. Life is crap for the grubs, and even worse for the nothlits. But just because something is bad doesn't mean you should go messing with time to try and make it better, you know? Maybe I did agree to Elayne going back and maybe it did change things. Who might get hurt in the process though? It's not just my own existence at stake..."

The Director reasons, "Yes, but what if it's the wrong existence? You can go back and change the past. Yes, what happened happened, but what if it wasn't supposed to? Like I said earlier, you're existence is still undefined, your Time is in flux. You are a possibility. My friend has stopped so many bad things from happening in our Earth's past. So many things that could've made the human species extinct. He stopped the genocide of the human race so many times. You're no different. You can stop a wrong that was commited. You can stop the genocide of your race, of your entire species." He stopped speaking for a moment and let what he said sink in. He leaned in again and asked, "Think about this, what if all of your past pain, the pain of seeing your species die, your parents die... What if all of that was so you could tell her to go back and stop it all? What if the reason you exist, is so you can save your species?"

Corliss shrugs.  "We aren't abandoning the rest of our species, we're trying to help them find a better way.  The rebellion is more of a refuge for those who have been abandoned by their own people.  Exiled, dissonant, or just bloody different.  What we all have in common is that we won't let a corrupt government dictate how to live our lives, and control the fates of entire species...even if that means leaving behind everything and everyone we knew, to live underground and eat from a can.  I suppose it is rather un-Yeerkish, but then again, many of our faction are not Yeerks.  Those of us who are simply want to change the definition."

"Very much so!" Gaz said. Then she motioned to the door. "Have a look."

Gaz was without her trademark pirate hat and her purple streaked light brown hair was down. She was, however, wearing her old fashioned dark blue pirate jacket.

Morgan was walking into the bar, but the minotaur wasn't alone. Next to him was a woman with long dark hair and light skin. The dress she wore was sleeveless, but high in the neck and a shade of turquoise.

"That's Morgan's wife," Gaz explained.

Keshin smirks upon seeing the young man and points his Dracon at him. "Well finally. We've been looking for you. Put your hands in the air and get the hell out of that ditch. And don't try anything crazy. We're fast."

<Awesome, Kess! Somethin' went right! We got 'im!>

<No, just watch. A giant three-eyed rhinosaurus is going to come out of nowhere and ruin our day. And that's not even the weirdest thing that could happen. Our luck is just that bad here.>

"So...why the hell is the Imperial army after you, anyway?" states Keshin questioningly. "Did you piss off a Visser or something?"

Mar smiles and sits at the same table as Elayne, taking one of the drinks for himself. "Amazing that we've managed to stay together and alive this long," says Mar with a warm tone. "This Bar seems to go out of its way to cause trouble for its customers."

Mar then frowns. "Come to think of it...I am one of the only people who has managed to avoid catastrophe. Possibly because of my disinterest, but usually I'm smack in the middle of it. Mortal or not. I suppose it's a good thing. I need the rest."

"I guess this is a good time to head to the bar." Temrash said. "Come on, Keiko. You're probably really tired of seeing the inside of a ship, so let's check out a building made of wood." He stepped outside the ship, giving his surroundings a cursory glance. He still hadn't had any contact with Myitt, but he felt he should stay around Keiko to help her.

"Fletcher! Come out and let's hit the bar!" Which was a nice way of saying he wasn't leaving Flecher alone in the ship with everyone gone.

Elayne surveyed the Bar as she sat beside Mar and brought her beer to her lips. The Bar was continuing to fill up with some people she had seen when she first arrived, as well as some people she had never seen before. She found herself wondering when Myitt would be back; Elayne had liked her immediately and wanted a chance to talk with her again. But what will Mar do with you when his Precious is back? asked a smirking voice in the back of her mind.

Shoving it aside with a sharp sigh, she looked to Mar with what she hoped was a grin. "I wouldn't say things have been totally uneventful for us. My timeline disappeared for a while, and I remember you running outside into who knows what falling debris looking for me after that ship crash. We even shot down a Yeerk fighter in Myitt's Bug -- remember that?" By now, her smile was genuine. "We had met only a few seconds before all that mess began. I thought I had landed in the strangest war zone in the galaxy."
