"I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Maybe someday you'll get back and show everyone you're still alive. After that, I guess we might meet at the bar later in our lives and catch up."

Alic looked away for a moment. <It was okay at first... But I did get lonely. Starting enjoying being human, maybe too much. I started to forget why I was there to begin with.. and I just wanted to be normal like everyone else.>
She sighed, then continued. < I didn't want to come back to my own people, I had nothing left with them. But I knew if I didn't leave, I never would. Then what was the point of me being there? So the first opprotunity I got... I left.>

Alic was ashamed that she couldn't quite handle being on Earth, but it felt good to be able to talk to someone about it.

<Earth is...much richer than anything I have found amongst the Andalites,> Terenia says, <but it is not always enjoyable. I have seen more death since leaving Earth than most humans see in ten lifetimes, and still some of the most despicable acts I know of were done by humans to other humans. Humanity is both a gift and a curse, I suppose.>

Terenia pauses, gathering herself. It has been a very, very long time since she has spoken about her time as a human. More often than not she tends to avoid it, trying to repel a combination of homesickness and repulsion for the life she left.

<You do seem rather...human...fo r an Andalite,> Terenia notes, <it is refreshing. Most humans I meet these days are not human at all, but mere vessels of Yeerks. >

Corliss smiles faintly.  "I can leave Mike, you know, if you'd fancy a real chat," he says dully.

<Oh, I'm sorry,> Terenia says, looking distinctly uncomfortable, <I didn't mean any offense. I don't hold any grudges against your kind. Well, most of your kind. You do what you were designed to do.> She shrugs nonchalantly, <I just meant that it gets lonely from time to time, when the only free humans you come across tend to be locked in cages during their free time.>

Corliss nods.  "Well, it's lonely being the only one of your kind.  But cheer up, 'ey?  As long as you don't go shooting the place up, I reckon you've got mates here.  That's just the nature of the galaxy, innit?  Breeds lots of loners."

<The only one of my kind doesn't even begin to describe it,> Terenia agreed, extremely relieved by the friendliness that she had stumbled upon, <I really do need fuel though, at some point. I noticed ships of various origins out in the yard, and some look as though they've been here for quite some time. I wonder if any have fuel fit for a Bug Fighter that I could beg for or borrow...>

"Ossanlin's ship might be able to supply you a new fighter, but I'm flying a Skimmer class Imperial ship," says Corliss, spinning to face her completely in his bar seat.  "My sibling Myitt left here not too long ago in a Bug fighter, the fuels are of course compatible and we always keep extra.  Always have backup, I say.  There might even be some broken down Bugs out in that junk yard.  Do you want me to help you refuel?"

<I don't necessarily need to refuel right now,> Terenia says. As much as she wants to leave, she is also incredibly intrigued and almost comfortable with her current situation, and would not mind staying to find out more about this place. On the other hand, she if her superior finds her missing....

<It would be a good idea for me to know where fuel can be found, though,> Terenia says quickly, <Or to be refueled unless I have to leave suddenly. Or...something.>

Parker hears the andalite's comment about "shell" humans, "Well, good thing you came here, huh? I'm military and... 'enhanced', but human still." After Corliss offers to help refuel, Parker sits straight up in his seat. "Would like some secondary help? Some of those ships looked overturned. I can move 'em no problem for ya."

"Used to be this place was a decent Star Port," Corliss muses.  "But no matter.  We can syphon fuel and auxiliary power cells from our ships, or from that scrap heap out there."  She glances over at Joanne and Keshin.  "They have a Bug fighter, as well, but I'm not sure how willing they'd be to help someone who isn't giving them money or medicine."

Parker shifts in his seat and clears his throat, renewing his offer to help.

<Yes, humans could be horrible to eachother... But I enjoyed my life there anyway.> Alic was again starting to wonder why Terenia was here, and was hoping she wouldn't need to leave any time soon. She definately was enjoying her company, even through the awkward moments.

<I could be of no help here for fuel.. I hitched a ride from some Skrit Na to get here in the first place. Well.. more or less made them take me.>

<That would be excellent,> Terenia says in response to both Corliss and Parker, <thank you.>

She hesitates, looking uncomfortable once more, but then decides she may as well ask what is on her mind. She turns to Corliss, <You and your host switch off with who is in control? How did you manage to come to such a consensus? The few voluntaries I have met harbor quite a hatred for Andalites and their own fellow humans, but I have not detected that sort of bias from you...>
